ABOUT THE BRAND
Born out of a moment of profound regional change, the Trident CEO Council was founded in the late 1990s by a small but determined group of industry leaders and company heads. In the wake of the Charleston Naval Base closure, the Tri-County region faced economic uncertainty and a fragmented path forward. Rather than retreat, these leaders came together around a bold idea: that collaboration—across counties, sectors, and communities—could shape a stronger, more resilient Lowcountry.
From the beginning, the Council’s ambition was clear. Build inter-county cooperation. Align public and private leadership. Create a region where businesses have what they need to grow, good jobs are within reach, communities thrive, and the Lowcountry’s natural assets are respected as integral to long-term prosperity. Opportunity, in this vision, is not selective—it is something to be expanded and shared, regardless of race, religion, age, or economic status.
Nearly three decades later, that founding purpose still guides the Council. What has changed is the scale and speed of the region itself. The Lowcountry is experiencing growth and transformation at a pace few could have predicted in the Council’s earliest days. With that growth comes complexity— and with complexity comes a renewed need for alignment, foresight, and collective leadership.
The evolution of the Trident CEO Council brand reflects this moment. It is not a departure from the past, but a clearer articulation of who the Council is today and where it is headed. It signals forward movement, shared responsibility, and a belief that meaningful progress happens when leaders work together across boundaries.
Because shaping the future of the Lowcountry is not the work of one organization, one industry, or one county. Progress takes all of us.
