The Whittier Junior High School graduat in g class of 1972 takes pride in dedicat in g this yearbook to the great teachers who have served within the walls of this multi-million dollar , grand old building during the past forty-nine years and to all others clerks , custodians, cafeteria workers, student teachers , substitute teachers, construction workers , parents and patrons who have made every season a winning season and every year a successfu l year
To identify peop l e who have contributed the most or have glven their last full measure of devotion with distinction to Whittier and its master plan poses a problem - space will not permit naming all who are deserving , but i t seems to this day the hallways still ring with the mention of such names as Mr. Culler , Miss Hult, Mr Pr i efert , Mr. and Mrs Ross , Miss Veerhusen, Mr. Gartner , Mrs Wilson , Mrs. Brant, Miss Ralston, Miss Dee , Pop Heston, Miss Rousseau , Miss Zamzow , Miss Preston, Mr. Gammill , Mrs. White , General We l ch , and it seems most appropriate at this time to identify a dedicated teacher who has faithfully and tirelessly served Whittier students and patrons s i nce 1947. It i s our privilege t o bestow upon Mrs. West our special recogn i tion and honor on this dedication page as one, wllo has exemplified those qualit i es and performance of duties upon which the education profession proudly stands
To these people named and the many deserving but unnamed this book is hereby dedicated and may their names and spirits stand as beacon lights to illuminate the path of the students of Whittier Junior High School as they make their way along life's highway to their respective , self styled glory- Valhalla and/or a final resting place.

" Thoughts of Remembrance 'f
Whittier we sa y goodbye although it's hard to do For all three years_, we've been here you cared for us , we knew
Whittier , to you we owe thanks and in our hearts we're glad For giving us you r "vi c tori es " and for all the good times we v ·a had
Whittier you've made us proud and filled us with chee r We'll look back in yea r s to c ome and always hold you dear
Ti me has passed so quickly it seems that we've just met. For when or how or where to go we do not know just yet
The teachers too, they're really swell to us they've meant a lot
To set our thoughts and standards high that ' s pa.rt of what they've taught
Whittier to you we bid farewell and do it with regret
We think you're " 1" in everything for that much you can bet

We're not coming or going 'cause we're only in-between Our past is all behind us our future's not yet seen. Our Junior High days aren't over for we have one more year to go. And that seems a long time coming for all we' II have to know.
We have to know our English, our history and algebra too. Our lives are really complicated because of all the things we do. But yet we make the best of it and keep a smile on our face. Because the younger you are the better you can keep pace.
And so dear eighth graders lift up your chin. Walk lightly and briskly and wear a big grin. Look for tomorrow and live for today, then we' II be ninth graders by the end of May.
