Potluck Dinner

I went to the potluck dinner for Multicultural night and the theme was "Cajun." There were so many great foods.There were·at least 50 different options. As you may know this potluck was held in honor of our sister school Carencro Middle School. They went through hurricane Katrina and almost everything was destroyed. So we, Pound Middle School, donated money for them to have new school supplies and clothing. We wanted to get a little taste of there life. •
At this Potluck there were so many Mardi Gras beads. Everyone had school spirit and everyone had fun. There was also a raffle for Ipo shuffle, raffle tickets were one dollar. When Dr. Deibler pulled the winning ticket, everyones hopes were high. Mrs. Sharp's name was read loud and clear. We all thought it would be a student but it was a teacher! It was a small but nice reward for her efforts!
Some of the foods at the potluck were so good! There was jambalaya, banana fritters, lots of flavored rice, and com bread. A lot of families came and participated by briging a Cajun dish. Mr. Deshaine was super excited about his jambalaya. This was a very fun activity and it got students involved .. Not to mention it gave Pound a taste of Louisiana.

C. Flu scare for the birds
Medical officials put the world on notice after a strain of avian flu was detected in some isolated human cases in China and Hong Kong. After more cases popped up in other parts of the globe, the World Health Organization urged countries to prepare for a possible pandemic.
D. Top court shuffle
John G. Roberts became the new chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, filling one of two vacancies. To fill the second vacancy, President George Bush nominated Circuit Court Judge Joseph Alito after his first choice, Harriett Miers, withdrew.
E. Shuttle back in orbit
Two years after the Columbia tragedy grounded NASA's manned space flight program, space shuttle Discovery returned NASA to outer space with a successful two-week mission. However, there were still anxious moments after loose foam insulation from take-off caused Discovery's return to Earth.

J. White Sox champs again finally
The Chicago White Sox eased the pain of long-suffering Windy City baseball fans by winning their first -World Series title in almost 90 years, sweeping the Houston Astros in four games. Chicago was dominant, rolling through the playoffs with an 11-1 record.
K. So long, Obi-wan
The long-awaited final movie in the Star Wars saga, Revenge of the Sith, dominated the box office and became one of the highest grossing films of all-time, earning nearly $400 million. Despite the critical and financial success of Sith, series creator George Lucas vowed that the story was over and no more Star Wars movies would be made.
