This year was the first time Pound par_; ticipated in the Geography Bee. This Bee is open to 4th through 8th graders. The Geography Bee is a national contest, so the national finals will be televised.
The national winner gets a $25,000 college scholarship and a lifetime membership in the National Geo ra hie Societ .
10 finalists from Pound are Lindsey Jones, Samantha Karnes, Rio Kim, Elena Hoff, Grady Huggins, Nick Brophy, Kerri Peters, A.J. Matthies, N ealesh Padhye, and Steve Dosskey. Steve Dosskey defeated all the finalists and might be going to state.
Majority of Pound voted.for Bush. The disrict mostly voted for Bush.
Pound Student Council organized a November Food Drive that helped the Lincoln Food Ban1c supply food to needy families for the holiday season.
Studnent Council also collected toys for Victorious Kids.
FEBRUARY 10 MARKED THE NGIHT WHERE POUND FAMILIES AND STAFF GATHERED T O CELEBRATE THE DIVER SE CUL TURES OF OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY. STUDENTS AND ADULTS WERE ENTERTAINED BY A DANCE GROUP FROM UNL. ALL THOSE IN ATTENDANCE ENJOYED GREAT FOOD, FESTIVE DANCING, AND FUN SURPRISES. THIS EVENT WAS SPONSORED BY POUND'S MULTICULTURAL COMMITTEE.
