GOING ALL OUT

BON APPETIT!

"Enjoy yourself. These are the good old days you're going to miss in the years ahead.,,

Unknown

As ninth graders experienced their last year at Pound, they started to prepare for the future.

Ninth grade students have adjusted to many changes during their years in middle school. They realized as ninth graders, they had to accept more responsibility, including more homework and final exams.

The 1997-98 school year brought changes to Pound itself. A new administration, less passing time, and fewer students affected everyone. Making up a week of missed school due to the fall snowstorm also _ was a challenge.

Ninth grad~rs completed their time at Pound, and their first year in 1 high school.

PLUNGING AHEAD

"There are always two choicesl two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy."

Eighth grade, the year of looking back at the accomplishments and mistakes of seventh grade. They have defined the middle in middle school and were constantly involved in Pound activities.

Eighth graders had to step up to their teachers' challenges, and faced more tests in the past year. They began to prepare for the future by taking foreign languages and classses that may tell them what they may want to do in the future. , Eighth graders also started completing required classes needed for graduation.

Math teacher Lori Hilligoss helped her students find the answer to a problem.

MAKING AN IMPRESSION

''Some people com~ into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while and leave foot~ prints on our hearts. And we are neve~ ever the same.,, Unknown

As seventh graders completed their first year at Pound, they experienced many changes from elementary school to middle school.

Seventh graders had to get up earlier and learn their way around Pound. Seventh graders had the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends as their schools blended together.

The students of the Pound Team A Panthers and the Team B Junior Knights enjoyed their own lockers this year, and their entire grade ate lunch together.

Studying ancient civilizations and Greek mythology, along with different exploratories got them started. Let's see what the future holds ...

Social Studies teacher Valerie Harris's students Ashley Weyers, Jill Schwarz, Alicia Toy, and Stephanie Stull completed worksheets.

A .PROFILE OF CHANGE

"There are high spots in all of our livesl and most of them come about through encour~ agement from someone else."

George Adams

The 1997-1998 Pound faculty described the school year in one word: CHANGE.

Change in administration included the addition of Principal Chris Deibler and Asst. Principal Kelly Schrad.

With the change in administration, came changes in the seventh and eighth grade team teacher makeup and the physically moving of teachers' classrooms to reflect the grade level each taught. In addition, many teachers changed the grade level they taught.

With the school year, came the voluntary supervision around the Pound building by facullty before and after school, helping to ensure the safety of Pound students. Faculty also volunteered to supervise after school clubs and evening concerts as well as numerous other activities.
