This will be the last ninth grade class at Pound Middle School prior to the opening of the two new middle schools. The ninth graders will have to prepare for the next step in their lives. They will face many new challenges including meeting new people and adapting to a new environment. For the ninth grade students moving on to the next level will remind them of being the youngest again.

In the Middle
Most Pound eighth graders agree that there is a distinct difference between eighth grade and seventh because they feel more in control and accepted at Pound. Eighth grade homework seems harder to some students in comparison to the amount the year before. Consequences were determined by individual teachers, but in general, the eighth graders found that their new teachers weren't quite as lenient as they were last ye~r when it came to tardies.
Eighth graders could choose more of their classes as opposed to th~ electives chosen for them the past year. Students in the middle had more choices and felt the clear diversity of eighth grade from seventh. Eighth graders feel more experienced and comfortable in their middle year at Pound.
