• The yearbook staff would like to extend our thanks to Mr. Goeglein, retired science teacher at Pound, for his tremendous work. He has taught here since the school opened in 1963. He retired on January 15, 1985. We will miss him greatly.

Southeast Heavyweight football team had a 2&4 record

This year ' s girl's Varsity basketball team had a record of 8 wins, no losses. They were city champs this year. The girls' Reserves basketball team had a record of 3 wins and 5 losses.
Nikki Stineman, of the Varsity team, said she thought the competition was good She also thought there was good sportsmanship on the team Nikki was very happy that they got city champs.

Boys' Gymnastics had three meets this year. The seventh and eighth graders won their first meetlclnd don't know about the other two.
Rick Pierson got all-around in the seventh grader's first two meet s. Brad Blumenstock got all-around in the eighth grader's last meet.

Co-ed Basketball
The Co-ed Basketball teams this year were: Rownd's Squares, Dead Brain Cells, Streakers, Terrible Ten, Puddles, Scabs, Oops, Dunk Dunks Dunker Dunkers, Team, Prissy and the Superstars , David and his Disciples, Bulls, Nicks, Golden Trojans and Hoyas.
The winning team was the Rownd's Squares. They got 10 dollars worth of Valentino's certificates. The team members were Nikki Stineman, Lisa Borchardt, Kari Goldenstein, Jon Johnson, C C. Fitzgerald, Mark Bunde, Geoff Rownd, and Brent Johnson.
Tracy List, of the Streakers, said there were good teams but she wished there were more teams and playing time. Each team played four to five gam~s Next year Tracy hopes her team will be the champs and that there are better referees.

The soccer team met after school and was coached by Mr. Deschaine.

Greg Bro said the swimming competition was "Pretty rough" and diving was "Not so tough." Swimming scored on a team basis, diving on an individual basis. Greg was city diving champ. He says the swimming coach was pretty good and the diving coach was a "Really great Coach."
Brent Johnson was the only person from Pound who played golf this year.
He got free golfing at four golf courses while competing. He played golf everyday, and got better as he went.
He said the competition was tough. He said there were a lot of really good players. He had fun making new friends every day.
The only real tournaments were individual at the end. It was not a betweenschools type competition.
The Ping Pong tournament champs this year were Mark Bunde and Chris Watkins. In the losers bracket the champs were Mr. Kirkendall and Miss Jorn.
Mark said the competition was good and so was the sportsmanship.

Red Cross
Red Cross has 75 members this year. They have done many money raising projects They have , sponsored babysitting classes and have done babysitting at conferences. They have had canned food drives for the needy.
Red Cross meets once a month and the officers meet one more time. This year's officers are: President-Chon Klich, Vice President-Dawn Klich, Secretary-Michelle Beebee, TreasurerDevonna Price, Program Director-Annette Rieman. And the teacher sponsor is Mrs Hopkins.
This year's Dungeons and Dragons is led by Mr. Foulk. The students in Dungeons and Dragons are : Scott Hatten, Matt Bouwen s , Ian Melroy, Isaac Cline, and Damon Card. Dungeons and Dragons meet every Friday night after school.

Squires & Squirettes is our select swing choir. They have gone to many different places throughout the city to perform. Those include elementary schools, Hillcrest Country Club just to name a few! This year's Kantorei has been able to travel in and out of town for their many performances. One trip was to Kearney to perform for the Choir Director's Convention; another was to the Governor's mansion. There are 40 selected members.

This year's 9th Grade dance was a big thrill. It was slow getting started but once it did, it was a lot of fun!!! It was sponsored by the Student Council, who decorated the commons for it.
This year's 7th Grade Pizza Party was held in first semester. It was a big hit!!

The winter plays took place on December 6-12, 1984 Under the direction of Mr. Deschaine, "Me, Too Then" and "Hello Ma!" came off as a success.
The cast of "Me, Too Then" inducted Tiffany Erisman as Vera, Dave Stamper as Slats, and Brian Salmon as Leonard. The cast of "Hello Ma!" included Mindy Berry as Dee, and Na talie Baskin as Ma.
The assistant director for the plays was Kristen Linder. The st a ge manager was Aimee Guzman.

The spring plays were, "I'm Herbert," "The Babies," and Kindly Take Your Seat." The plays were directed by Mr. Guenzel. .
The cast of "I'm Herbert" included Kevin Francis as Herbert, and Tanya Christiansen as Muriel. The cast of "The Babies" included Mitch Parker as He, and Sheryl Schmidtke as She. The cast of "Kindly Take Your Seat" included Dave Stamper as Roger, Corey Groshan as Bill, Kristen Linder as Passenger, Laura Deitchler as Nancy , Mindy Gould as Navigator, Laura Morgan as Florence, Travis Russell as Neville, Natalie Baskin as Lynder, and Eric Canny as Control/Tower.
The stage managers were Robin Rowe, Eric Canny, and Briana Richwine.
SPirit Week .
The week of March 11-15 was "Spirit Week." The activities were designed by the Student Council together with the administrative staff.
• The first day of "Spirit Week" was designated as 'Hawaiian Day' where leis and palm tree print shirts were the norm.
Following school an allschool 'Hawaiian Dance' was held

Wednesday was 'Friend / Teacher Appreciation Day ' where you could send notes to your friends and they would be printed in a special paper. Thursday, the guys' and girls' Varsity and Junior Varsity teams took each other on in friendly game of basketball.
Goofy Glasses were abundant on Tuesday, the day designated as 'Goofy Glasses Day '. That night, conferences were held and the Student Council sponsored a Chili Feed.
Friday, March 15, was the last day of Spirit Week. It was designated as 'Dress Up Day.' Highlights of the day included Mr. Ferris showing up at school with a tux on and Mr. Nelson wearing his grandfather's wedding suit.
