Student eouncil

One of the exciting experiences at Pound was the election of th e officers and rrembers to the Student Council. All members and people of the four offices were installed at an all school assembly . The committee chairmen were also recognized, and presented with a recognition pin. Student Council and Offic=: e r pins were available to anyone, on the council, who wished to have the nice keep-sake

The Student Council made an excursion to Robin Mickle J unior High School We were intertained with a well - organized meeting presented by their council. It was in.teresting to hear the other group's view points on different subjects.

The most recent big decision of our council was whether or not to have a "POUND HANDBOOK" The book would contain a small map of the school which would be most helpful to the incoming class. It could also have a listing of the faculty and office staff and the room numbers for all, as well as basic school policies. Those are just a few of the ideas suggested

Red Cross was off to a great start this year. Sally Christensen and Jack Yanike, chosen last year to be co-presidents, had twenty-four council members to carry out the many exciting and worthwhile projects this year.

For a Halloween Party, the Red Cross went to Whitehall Orphanage and presented them with a football, and helped them carve pumpkins.

We received a very interesting album from Greece, for our School to School Project. We sent them our album and we plan to keep up a correspondence.

During October, cans of food were collected and taken to a needy family fcr a Thanksgiving dinner.

On December 18, the Red Cross again went to Whitehall to have a 11 Birthday Party for everyone who had a birthday in 1964. 11

For Christmas, each student brought all of their old toys to school. Approxirrotely 700 toys were collected, which were taken to an Indian reservation.

For the second year in a row, Pound has won the Butternut Keystrip Plaque by collecting the most keystrips of the Jr. Highs. If we win it next year, we will get to keep it.

At the Spring Fair in Miller & Paine, Pound was represented by a booth showing our album on Greece. During this time we recorded a tape to send to Greece.

For Enrollment Week, the Red Cross sponsored a Talent Show in our auditorium. There were many groups from other s-chools plus our own talent. This raised $46.80.

Also during March, we took an azalea to the Homestead Nursing Home, we also provided some entertainment.
