Lux has been open for three years, and is still going strong. Through academics, athletics, and activities, we have succeeded to the best of our abilities, and flew together as one. Lux has the strength and the dreams to fly right through the years. We fly together through the good and bad times and always see the positive side of negative situations. We are cautious of the path that lies ahead of us. Our experiences at Lux will truly help us fly through the years. Our memories will always be there to guide us through the obstacles that lie ahead. We work towards our goals and always aim for the stars. The 8th grade class was the first class to go through all three grades. Lux 8th gr ders experienced all three years and stood true to the school. They led their peers to the highest goals and dreams possible. They have flown through all three years and will soon take off, but will land again, and always remember this wonderful school.

As John Lux Middle School finishes off its third year, we can look back and se e all that we have done in this school. We have helped out the community through donations to the Malone Center. We have had enough heart to give some money to the penny drive during the holiday seasons. Besides helping out, Lux students also flew through their sports, often finishing out on top. We have had fun at our dances and our fun-nights. On top of it all, Lux students have shown off their academic achievements by excelling in the classroom and showing a good attitude towards their school. Way to go Lux and keep it up!

This semester the journalism class worked hard. They issued two newspapers and the majority of the yearbook. Fourth and fifth period classes worked together to make the best yearbook ever. It was a semester of effort and fun put together. They spent the semester taking pictures, writing articles, putting together layouts, interviewing new people, selling yearbooks, plus • the oewspaper. They learned the facts needed for any journalism career.

A they land~d, they looked around with awe. The sixth graders have grown a lot this year. They learned to pread their wings with the help of their teachers, through projects and field trips. All in all, this has been a very successful year for the 6th graders. What's next for the sixth graders? Learning to fly in 7th grade!

This year is the last year for the eighth grade students at John Lux Middle School. Their teachers have prepared the eighth graders for their long awaited high school experience. The eighth graders have been strong role models for their younger peers. The eighth graders' sixth grade year was one to remember; Lux' s first year. During that time they looked forward to meeting new people. In the seventh grade they felt more comfortable in their atmosphere. Now they feel honored to be the first class to fly through all three years.

This year volleyball started with a series of tryouts to place players into teams. The A team is girls who would like to be in competitive games. The C team is the team of girls who play just for the fun. The B te am is right in the middle. No matter what team the girls were on they all had a fun time playing volleyball.

Odysse y of the Mind is an after school club that meets on Mondays and Fridays. They do a lot of spontaneous activities. They are given a category and then given two mi~utes to come up with ways to solve the problem. They do a lot of thinking games and activities. For the state competition , they get into groups and have to come up with a skit that is eight minutes long. Over all, Odyssey of the Mind is a club for people who enjoy thinking and brainstorming with a limited amount of time. Anyone can enjoy this club if they put their mind to it. Join Odyssey of the Mind!
