LNE MEDIA CENTER
Another school year is about over the last for a few, though most will be back again next September. For everyone it has been a busy year . . . more fun than usual , more studies than usual, more to be remembered.
So when years pass and 1947 joins the faded pattern of the past, tum to this book, look again at your friends, teachers, and activities, and relive all those things that have become only a memory.

INDUSTRY!
There 's a saying that anything in a school's office is liable to turn up at the Board of Education and usually does-so " red tape" isn't the only cause of the endless tasks at 720 South 22nd street. Industry is the school board 's by-word, though, and they stick by it whether putting the final " okay " on school requests at board meetings or caring for their own private businesses . Promoting the rise in the mill levy was one of th~ir major problems of the year but always foremost were their duties of governing the 12,805 students in the Lincoln Public Schools .

THEIR WORK IS NEVER DONE
The time is far past when faculty members locked their rooms at 3 :15 and left the building , for now the many extra-curricular activities claim their after-school hours Sponsoring organizations such as Y-teens and H i -Y . . . instructing no-credit classes as life-saving . . . planning ass e mblies as that for State Day chaperoning groups as on music trips ... the teachers from Northeast are en d ing a busy year- busy with prov ing to ;students their importance away from books as well as their necess ity in the classroom

"WE'RE LEAVING NOW - "
'42 .As the first seventh graders in the brand new school we were wide-eyed and lost
'43 Now becoming acquainted with the new faces and with going from room to room for classes
' 44 Our last year in the junior high and the biggest thrill came when dreaming of sitting down stairs in the auditorium and of going to the school dances
'45 Feeling really grown up in senior high, and with the extra activities , we found it hard to keep our minds on studies
'46 This was a big year because we now found our. selves as leaders and officers of the many organizations and in the spring our first high school formal banquet or dance
' 47 Feeling like we're just getting into the swing of things, we have to say "so long". We leave the things that have now become traditions of Northeast to be carried on by the underclassmen.

So Mrs. Berniece Rasmussen reorganized the girls' small group they were invited to perform all over the city at social gatherings, business meetings, anywhere there were music lovers and always they met with wholehearted approval.

CURTAIN Tl-ME
Outstanding students outstanding dramatists together they formed an outstanding organization. Under the guidance of President Beverly Ball, Vice President Betty Sabin , Secretary Paul Hartman, and Treasurer Joan Speidell they completed a successful year successful in every respect. Their already powerful number was further strengthened by initiation of new members twice during the year.
Oodles of food too much food made aches galore but it all provided a scrumptuous time at a covered dish supper and later a picnic. Highlights of the year were the full houses at the two plays, "June Mad" and "Cat and Canary" merging of Mu Kappa Tau with Masque and Gavel, a national speech organization , near the end of the year at a formal initiation .
Worried looks and last minute preparations back stage before the curtain goes up on " June Mctd ".

Anything to be different so the " N" club picnic featured food poisoned ala carte (some fellows were sick afterwards anyway) . Tradition wouldn't claim their carnival at least till the crowd coupled up and danced ... but it was the best ever and they had just reason to be proud of the athletic powers they displayed. "BABY" GRADUATES
It's their "baby", this '47 Rocket! The staff pinned all their hopes on it invested every cent they had in it showed it every social advantage even gave it a school-wide debut.
Sales men who said ''no films or flash bulbs" (as they so often did) were faced with grim determination ... teachers reluctantly gave up persistent students day after day to " go write captions" the photographer was always swamped with picture-taking schedules for "baby" had to have the best of everything no matter what the consequences.
For eleven months they watched it grow with the accomplishment of their prize work gradually it took form in front of their proud eyes and finally , they thought it was ready to " meet the people" for in it was everything you ' ll want to remember for the 1947 school year.
Now it's your " baby " your treasure
