yOn September 17, 2004, the LHS Student Council held a fall celebration called Festivus for the whole school. It was an afternoon of great ethnic food, fun games, music, and a much needed time spent with friends.
Many of the LHS clubs were represented at Festivus. The African American Caucus, Asian Caucus, LHS Book Club, and the LHS clerical staff all sold different kinds of food for the LHS students and teachers to enjoy.
There were many different kinds of music at Festivus this year. The LHS Drumline was there, a DJ played for us, there was Karaoke, and the band Umbra, a local , band made up of three LHS students, freshman Eddie Steele, junior Kellen Grotrian, and freshman Sean Mikkleson.
There was plenty to do at Festivus this year. The pool was open for a very small fee, Sumo Wrestling was popular, and the dunking tank was also a favorite. The Drama Club put on .a garage sale, and gave away all of the old retro clothes to .anyone who wanted them, and DECA had a tent with information and a basketball hoop outside on the sidewalk.
Over all, Festivus was a blast, and a great afternoon at LHS.

Lincoln High School offers a day care for the students who have become parents, parenting classes are also offered for those who are to be parents. This helps the students who are also parents at Lincoln High get a high school diploma, and be good parents. The LHS student-parents get to spend time with their children, and the rest of the day the children learn and grow by doing daily activities.

Lights, Camera, Action! And with that the Lincoln High Drama department got on their way creating yet another awesome year ull of laughs and fun, tears and sorrow.
The Drama department takes pride in their ability to select just the right plays to preform, and this year was no different. With a sweet ~tart, the first play was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The Pied !piper of Hamlin was selected as this year's one act, which turned out to be a good choice as it gave Lincoln High the title of One Act State Champions for the second year in a row.
Then came Cole Porter's Anything Goes for the spring musical, forcing our talented actors to not only act and sing, but to learn to do tap as well. All in all we were bowled over by the abundance of talent here at Lincoln High, as we always are. We look forward to future bright stars ho got their start right here.

Cross Country Teams Go -
The Extra Mile ...

Let's think back to last summer: what were you doing at 7:00 in the morning? Most of the world was sleeping in, but that's not the case for an LHS Cross Country runner
Every day the team was getting up early for morning workouts that included intense runs that sometimes reached up to 10 miles a day for the girls and up to 12 miles a day for the boys, followed by 20-30 minutes of abwork, and on top of all of that, another 20-30 minutes of exercise bike workouts Insane? One might think so, but new Head Coach this year, Tony Black, knows what he's doing with his runners
The summer morning workouts were nearly double what they had been in past years, but proved to be in the athletes' favor in the long run, since both teams had excellent seasons. The girls' team qualified for state as a team, and the boys' team missed out on qualifying as a team by one place at districts
Despite the narrow miss of team qulification for the boys, both teams had excellent finishes to their season . According to Coach Black, "The success of girls' team this year was due to a complete team effort from all. They were very positive all season long
and their energy at meets kept them going strong
The boys' had a lot of challenges throuhgout the season dealing with setbacks from injuries but regardless, everyone still ran their best races at the end of the year." Keeping a good spirit throughout the season can be tough to do when challenges arise, but the boy's team grew very close this year, as they con·stantly gave one another support, and handled things very well.
"The boys are a very competitive team and the strong friendships they formed this year are ultimately what kept them going, and I believe that was the most successful goal obtained for them this season, " says Gooch Biack •
Two members from the Boy's team still qualified for state individually by placing in the top 15 at Districts; seniors Ray Mikkelson and Chris Hatch. The girls' performance at state as a team was outstanding as they placed 8th overall, with two of them, junior Ashley Embury, and sophmore Brandis Hurt, making the All-City team by placing in the top 7. Congratulations to both teams this year on outstanding performances! Best of luck next year in the 2005-2006 season!

Brandis Hurt Varsity Girls
Chosen by Head Coach Tony Black, sophmore Brandis Hurt is this year's spotlight athlete for the girls varsity team Brandis is a very driven athlete who has worked hard to improve her time by about a minute from last year Brandis was a great contribution to the team this year at the state meet, and her personal best time this season was an incredibly fast run of 16 :01 at districts. According to Coach Black, Brandis ran the most of any girl on the team this summer preparing for the season, and the key to her success was her constant hard work "Brandis i~ a girl who really knows how to lead by example," says coach Black

he Lincoln High tennis season this year went really well. The team had several tournament finishes in the top half, including second place in the twelve team LHS/LNE Invitational. The team's coach, Steve Ward said the players worked hard to improve and kept improving the entire season. With two returning Varsity players and many returning players form JV, the team· s prospects were high. The players' hard work paid off and was shown when Dan Beckwith took a 3rd place medal in the #1 singles, as well as the #1 singles champion in the 10 team Millard West Invita tion al.
