When you look at Amanda Davis what do you think of? Well more than the ma- jority of Irving Ninth grade students thought of her as a singer. On December 7, 2000 ninth graders took a poll on who is most likely to be ... (and then a various job) and here are the results.

The next Bill Nye the Science Guy .or Bill Gates might be Greg Radwick. Stephanie Thompson may be the next cover girl for Vogue Magazine. In the entertainment industry Amanda Davis is thought of as Bette Midler. Maggie Blumer might be taking over Ricky Lake's job as a talk show host. In the next 20 years Annie Krein might be the next Julia Roberts. Drew Burson might be the next Kurt Warner. Hannah Tegt may control the United States as she appoints Andrea Ta1lman as the Surgeon General and Margaret Milligan as ambassador of Austria. Lori Wandzilak could be teaching your children English at Irving. When you're watching NBC news 20 years from now you might see Bethany Asboe being honored with the Nobel Peace Prize. Or you may see Jared Stoner on Food Network with his own cooking show.

So 20 years from now when you are watching some late night talk show, eating some exquisite cuisine, or voting for the next U.S. President, look at who it is, you just might know them.

Will Bethany be the next Mother There a? 20 NINTH GRADE

The Irvin g Orchestra ·

hard in orche ·;tra

Music has changed a lot over the year . New technology has changed the way that you can play and listen to music. Popular musical styles change very often. But, students will always enjoy playing in the chool orchestra.

Irving has had an orchestra ever since it was opened. Presently, Irving's orchestra has 29 students. The orchestra includes grades 7-9. The class is taught by Mr. Olmsted, who has been teaching at Irving for 10 years, and Mr. Roehrs, the strings specialist. Mr. 0 says that he is very proud of the students' work ethic. He also says that he likes to teach the class because he likes to work with the students.

Even though some students might be younger than others they till get experience with harder music. This is because Mr. 0 places students in different sections o that they can get experience with all levels of music. They also play a variety of cl 1 s i cal and modem music.

The orchestra gets a lot of opportunities. They get to play in orchestra contests and they play at Irving's concert at Antelope Park at the end of the year. Some the members even get to go play at the elementary schools.

This program has been around for a very long time and hopefully will continue for a long time because one thing never changes - people love music.

throw a dance?

Student Council throws all the dances. At first they have to raise money. They do this by selling candy after school. After they raise· the money; they use the money to pay for decorations and a DJ. Then for about a week they sell tickets to ---------- stu- dents. Then they have It is a lot of to put up th e work throwing decorat i O n S a dance. which takes about an h o u r • They get everyone who bought a ticket in, and they start the dance. STUCO has to dance to get the party started. A couple hours later the dance ends, but STUCO isn't done yet. They still have to clean up. It is a lot of work for just one dance.
