Since 1927, Irving Middle School has ha d a long-running legacy of dedication to its students. It was the first middle school built in Nebraska. Our current principal , Mr. Hugh McDermott, follows Mr. Van Horn, Dr.Grossmeyer, and Mr. Folsom. Our school was named for writer Washington Irving, author of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle.

This year, our school was honored to supply the setting and characters of the film project, 'Stories of Us.' This unique experience allowed the 8th grade Drama class to act in an inspired movie about bullying. Also this year, Irving set a new record by gaining over l l ,000 food items in our Tom Rutz Memorial Food Drive. Way to go, Irving!
