Publications isn't all "fun arrl games." Take a look at Stephanie
June 19 9 9
Th.is year the publications staff chose to droicate the yearlxXlk to Mrs. Bomrerger. Mrs. Bomerger teaches first rrl swmd year Sµmish She also teaches 7th grade oral mrnrnunication classes. She knew from an early age that she wan Erl to re a teacher. Her dad was a teacher and a prirx:iµil and she always loved going to school with him on the week.em: , to help "grade µi.{HS". At first she thought that she wanted to l:xmme a first grade teacher, but later de:ided that teach: ng middle school would seem more fun
After graduating from the University of Nebraska, Li:na:lln in May of 1995 she taught in York, Nebraska, for tr ee years.. Then she moved mck to Lirmln and has teaching here at Gcxrlrich since 1998. Mrs. Bomrerger teaches -ee classes of Sµmish two. one class of Sµi.nish one, and two classes of exploratory world language and oral mrnrnunicatir is She loves the fact that she gets to teach some kids for three years in a row. She loves Sµi.nish but also wants to te:- -::h English sornooay. too.
A muple of days a week after school Mrs. Bomrerger tutors at Sylvan learn 1g C.enter. She likes to work there oo:ause she gets to help a variety of kids, from elementc --y to high school
One of her favorite things to do is spend time with her family. She has two ol er brothers, a younger sister, and a younger brother. Her family is pretty close and they , t along well The newest memrer of her family is her nia:e., Lily. She was born on Dff:em 27th.
Another in}portant person in Mrs. Bomrerger·s life is her husl:0.nd Jeff. They I )t married on Octorer 13th. and it was the wooding of their dreams. She says that • g married is wonderful even though it takes some time getting usoo to. "One of the k d things is getting usa:i to having a new name! Sometimes I have to think twice wr n someone cal]s me Mrs. Bomrerger!"
When she can afford it she also loves to travel She has l::ren to Germany, Fran " Switzerland, Austria, and her favorite place. Sµnn Her favorite trip to Sµi.in was in 1997 when she took seven of t r students from York there for almost a month 'We had a blast."
Besides checking µi.pers with her father Mrs. Bomrerger loved doing things with her friends. In her town th! e was a µirk that was quite popular. Her and her friends would play games like kickl:nll and kick the can for hours in 1 e µirk. She also rememrers having pretend woodings as kids. If a boy and girl liked each other they often had big woodir s for them on the l:0.ndstand in the rruddle of the µirk. Mrs. Bomrerger doesn·t ever rememrer reing the one l:xmrrn g marrtoo. although she rememrers most of the time remg the flower girl sneaking into neighbors yards mllff:ting flow ( s She was no stranger to small towns from the age or five clear to graduation Before supper was the time imple muld f d their own µirk filled with little kids such as Mrs. Bomrerger.
In her small town she enjoyed knowing everyone. She felt it was the highlight of living in a small town Beinl a kid in her small town was really fun she loved reing able to go dancing almost every weekerxi If not in her town tl n in another nearby. She liked where she went to school in her town oo:ause everyone was involved in athletic sports, • it just a select few like here at goodrich and middle schools all over Lirmln She rememrers a time in her town when evr f spring her school put on a musical and every kid helped out with it in some way. Everything in her school was a grc p effort and she liked that a lot oo:ause it made her and her friends feel prmrl - Nancy Studey

The favorite fall holiday of some people is Halloween ~me of our middle school students thought they were too old to "trick or treat" so a lot of them just dre,ssm up and hung out with their friends. Others just did nonnal everyday things and ignorro the wickro holiday. Many people attendm parties that were going on Other teenagers (not naming names) pullro traditional halloween pranks including toilet papering houses, smashing pumpkins, and egging houses (and sometimes people). People got lots of candy and ate a lot of it at school the next day. Over all the holiday went down pretty well and Gcxxlrich students were happy.

c~m spring be something speci2I or nothing 2t 211? I like it bec2use it's much w2rmer th2n f 211. Spring is like 2n oce2n, it's different with every w2ve just like the long ye2rs th2t differ by the d2ys. if you listen closely you he2r the voice of the wind slowly conversing with the flowers in the fields discussing issues th2t only spring h2rmony c2n reve2I.
You know it's spring when the snow begins to melt 2nd the birds begin to sing. , All this occurs from nature 1s natural h2rmony or the scientific version, but th2t's too complex for me.

g eventh graders: they 're at the boHom of t.he ladder. gome of them are ready to move up. while others are still figuring everything out. It can be a big change. going from sixth to seventh grade. There are more classes for one thing. gome teachers can be stricter. not to mention there are around seven of them. instead of the two or three they have in sixth grade. Also in sixth grade. classes tend to be all in one place. but in seventh they can be all over the school. The assignments themselves can be harder. with bigger ones !like projects and tests) and tons more homework. Finally. there are two to three different lockers. and they have to remember all those different combinations. When seventh graders got here. they were mostly afraid of three things: homework. bullies. and geHing lost. For most. their fears were silenced. while they found other things to worry about. that they never thought would be a problem. But most seventh graders are survivors. getting accustomed to the changes. and even finding things to like about middle school. Like the many freedoms it offers. geventh Graders have a lot more independence. although it brings more responsibilities. it can be great. A lot of students like all the other students they meet. having more friends. and more people to date. And of C(?urse lunch is always a favorite. but at Goodrich students have more choices and an awesome salad. and snack bar.
Before eighth and ninth graders snicker. and start to make fun. think back to when you were in their shoes. geventh grade wasn't perfect. and we all had some of the same fears. but grew out of these as we grew up.

Many people have seen some special kids floating around the school. pi eking up attendance. and running the recycling program.Other than seeing them do those two Jobs. most do not know what these kids do. or why they are here at Goodrich. They are here to be part of the Community Based Education Program. They learn basic skills to help them in Ii fe. like counting money. learning to find certain items to purchase. and other things like that. which will ~elp them out later in life. Thif is called the Work and Job gkills program.
Every Wednesday and ~riday they go out into the community to places like ghopko.gupersaver.and K-Mart. They bring a shopping list. or look at one made by one of the teachers. They find certain items. and depending on who ·s list it is. they can buy those items. paying for them with their own money. They must make sure they have enoughmoney. These kids also help out at the Lincoln ~ood • Bank. helping to sort food and other Jobs.

Becoming a gophomore can be difficult for mod: fres;hman. There are many changes; that will take place when s;tepping into the future. gome of the things; that are on many fres;hman ·s; minds; are the big changes; that mos;t find a bit s;cary. gome of thos;e big changes; are moving from an average middle s;chool to a big high s;chool. There are a lot of people and all types; of divers;ity. Other things; might be the clas;s;es; and s;f:res;s; of keeping up. It can be hard to balance extracurricular activities;. like clubs;, s;ports;, andjus;t hanging out with friends;. but s;ome people can cram everything into there s;chedule inculding a part time jO~. With homework and trying to find s;ome free time. there might be a s;ens;e of falling behind.
Although there are many s;cary as;pects; of s;tepping up. to s;ophmore s;tatus;. There are the good points;. as; well. Thes;e exciting offerings; of ten help us; to actual! y take the leap. All the exciting things; often help us; to actually take that s;tep. Things; like a new lunch. better food. which is; always; a plus;. Moving to a new high s;chool opens; up the door of more freedom and the meeting of more people. There are a lot more opportunities; and clas;s;es; you can attend to achieve your goals; that you have s;et for life. In high s;chool you have more people to look up to. cons;idering you are not the oldes;t of your s;chool anymore. Als;o there are new varieties; of s;ports; and new competition. and other activity options;.
There are many choices; and challenges; facing the future s;ophomores; from Goodrich. They are making the next big s;tep in life. filled with all s;orts; of r:es;pons;ibilities; and tas;ks;. go it's; time to get focus;ed. and face res;pons;ibilities;. This; is; when it all really counts;. Good luck to all the fres;hmen. as; they head into the future.

Although only a summer has past, these farmer seventh graders now find themselves faced with not only more work, but work that is more challenging than last year . This preview of high school is usually scary until you get use to it and realize the freedom. High school is only months away .
Eighth Graders look at Ninth Grade as being top of school . One would think being a ninth grader would mean more advantages . Ninth Grade is not always an advantage, for example .the t0ings to study for and assignments are a lot harder .
Eighth Graders could get the idea they are not getting all the attention that they need . The students are not the youngest anymore, and not the oldest yet . They are stuck in the middle, it's like being a middle child .
Most students are externally thankful that new lockers were installed for them during the winter break. Opening their lockers should be a lot easier for them . The look of the lockers are better and it makes our school look a lot more organized.
As the end of the year comes, many eighth graders begin to start slacking off on their work, thinking that the year doe s not count . However, every ninth grader and teacher know. They need to get as much practice as possible for high school. Good Luck Eighth graders
