A jam -packed year

This year has been an experience for everyone: for the seventh graders who came to a new school, the eighth graders who were no longer the newcomers, and the ninth graders who would soon say goodbye.

Someday we' 11 look back on the memories of these years and smile, laugh, and cry. For this year has been packed with work, determination, and fun.

CO-EDITOR Kellie Galusha ,::.~~ starring Josh Strohmyer as Rudolph.

"We were down by 2 points 12-14. Dawes was serving for the final point. I called a time-out and told the girls Dawes would miss their serve, which they did. I told Nicole (Giebelhaus) where to serve, she did and served 3 aces!" -Mr. Bayne

Career Unit

This December the 9th graders were involved in a career unit. This unit began with a survey that helped students figure out what jobs would best suit them. Those jobs were researched, including which job requirements were needed and how much each profession made.

After this research , the students went to East High school to interview the people and the job they specialize in (Some 9th graders were disappointed because the career they were interested in did not have anybody from that profession, but they made do with what they had there). The students had lots of fun and got plenty of information for the unit.

Jammed To The Max

When I think about the 1993-94 school year the first thing that comes to mind is how the students and staff worked together to make Goodrich a welcoming place.

The Student Council worked hard at decorating the building, painted windows, and started a "Spirit Wall." Over 200 students volunteered to serve on committees that improved our school. Teams, clubs, and classrooms adopted areas of the building to maintain, improve or beautify. Students came up with hundreds of suggestions and then many students developed plans to make sure projects were carried out. Students were stationed at the front door to welcome visitors to our building. Other students served on a committee that sampled food and recommended new dishes to serve for lunch. They also proposed changes that improved the atmosphere in the cafeteria.

There are far too many examples to mention them all. But, the important thought is that a great deal of energy was put into making Goodrich a~ even better place to be , and this could only be done with the joint efforts of students and staff working together for a common goal. Many of the projects that were begun will carry over into subsequent years and will continue to benefit every student, parent, staff member and community member that enters our building. Isn't that an excellent mission in life? ... To leave each place better than we found it. -Tom Furby-
