The 1982-83 yearbook is being dedicated to Mr. Henninger by the yearbook staff, because he is a "Totally Awesome" counselor. Throughout the years he has been there to help with the bad times, and to share in the good times.
Mr. Henninger has been at Goodrich for 8 years. He taught Basic Studies, Social Studies, and EBE, before becoming our counselor. The yearbook staff asked Mr. Henninger what he enjoyed about Goodrich. He said it was the opportunity to work with the students and the satisfaction of seeing the ninth graders promoted to high school.

A typical day for a ninth grader at Goodrich Jr. High starts off by coming to school, and buy ing donuts to raise money for promotion. Their next stop is the commons where they sit and visit with their friends until the bell rings. When the bell fin ally rings, the ninth graders make their way to thei r locker, grab the books, and hurry to class.
Four classes later the ninth graders meet the ir friends for lunch. After lunch they have a choice o f playing basketball in the gym or playing games in the game room. Some talk to their counselor, Mr. Henninger, who said, "It's great to see scared little sixth and seventh graders turn into grown up ninth graders."

Other attendants watch the crowning
The 1982-83 Royalty was crowned February 12, 1983. The king, Scott Hoyt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Hoyt, has attende Goodrich for the past three years. He has been involved in basketball and other intermural activities. Scott plans to attend Li ncoln High School and then go on the college to play basketball. The queen, Audrey Donscheski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ji 1 Donscheski, has attended Goodrich all four years. She has participated in volleyball, Red Cross, and Health Careers. Audre ~ plans to attend Lincoln High School and then go on to Beauty School.
The Valentine's Assembly was performed in front of the eighth and ninth graders and some of the teachers. The assembl y consisted of musical groups such as: Swing Choir, Small group, a trio, and a foursome. There was also a totally awesome sk it called, "Fast Times at Goodrich Jr. High." The assembly ended with the crowning of the King and Queen.
Again this year Mrs. Downs and Mr. Bulling played a special role in our Valentine's Assembly. They helped organize th e talent show and were the MC's for the assembly. The 1982-83 class would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Downs and Mr. Bulling for all the help they've given us.

The typical day of an eighth grader starts at Goodrich Junior High, somewhere between 8:00 and 9:15 A.M. The normal day begins with a gossip time in the commons or gym.
When the bell rings, they rush down the crowded halls towards their lockers. With their books in ·one arm, they enter their first classroom. When it's finally over they rush to make sure they aren't late for their next class.
Some of the required classes are English, social studies, health, and math.
At lunch, some people enjoy eating lunch, but others would rather go to the gyms to play basketball or talk. When lunch is over, the students go to their lockers, then back to class.
An eighth grade teacher said, "I love teaching eighth graders. They are willing to work hard and do extra work to learn more about their subject. The eighth graders are a fun group to work with."
Their counselor, Mrs. Sandquist, is very helpful to them. When asked what she think of the eighth graders, she aid, "They are a neat bunch." Over all, eighth graders are caught in the middle because they aren't the big shots and they aren't little kids either. This year the eighth graders are giving a good go at making the most of the year, and they are doing a great job of it!

A typical day of a seventh grader starts by coming to school and meeting with their friends. When the bell rings they make their way down the hall to their lockers. They have had trouble with their lockers this year and they have to have help so they" won't be late to class. Finally they make it to class and are ready to start their day. Some of the required classes for the seventh grader are: basic studies, math, science, phys. ed. and reading.
When lunch finally comes around the seventh graders are pretty hungry since they have worked hard during the first part of the day. After they are finished eating they" can go to the gym and play basketball, or to the game room to play checkers, or they can sit in the commons and talk
with their friends. When lunch is over the seventh graders go back to class and get right to work. Soon school is over and then they can go home and do their homework.
Mr. Johnson, the seventh grade counselor, says that he really likes the seventh graders this year and that they really are a neat bunch of kids Mrs. Hamilton, a basic studies teacher, says that the seventh graders are intelligent and very alert this year and that they are the "Cream of the crop." In class, Mrs. Hamilton is putting great emphasis on figurative language that the students use in their writing. One of the books they read was the Christmas Carol. Mrs. Hamilton said that the kids were really aware of some of the problems in 1982 that were the same in 1882.

A typical day of a sixth grader at Goodrich Junior High starts at 8:30 a.m. Their very first day at Goodrich is difficult because they're in a new school. The new surroundings make it hard for them to find their classes and lockers, but with the help of others, they manage.
The required classes for sixth graders are math, reading, science, basic studies, and P .E., which leaves them one or two elective classes.
During lunch sixth graders notice a big change from grade school to junior high. Sixth graders have more freedom than elementary students. They can eat anything of their choice that is being served, or bring their own lunch. Sixth graders can go to the gym during their lunch period.

Between classes some goof around, some talk to teachers, and some flirt. Sixth graders ha ve the best record for not being in the time out room.
Some of the fads this year are leg warmers , friendship pins, valley girl and new wave language.
Sixth graders have three counselors. They are Mr. Henninger, Mr. Johnson, and Mrs. Sanquist. They said sixth graders are a great bunch of students. They are hard workers and are determined to be successful. Sixth graders this year have an advantage over the new seventh graders next year. •
Sixth graders look forward to many things in the seventh grade. For example they can join school clubs and intramural sports.

Health Careers also explores careers. Mrs. Knaub, their coordinator, takes the club on field trips. They've been horseback riding and visiting hospitals. They also had a Christmas party with the children at Cedar's Home.
