Teacher Spotlight: Tom Strong Sign up!

This is Mr. Strong’s second year teaching at LPS. Currently, Mr. Strong teaches AP World History, AP US History, Honor’s Personal Finance and Economics and the Senior Writing Seminar. He is also the assistant coach of the LPS Boy’s JV basketball team.

Did you know there's a superhero who takes on deadly villains from history? Yup, his name is Tom Strong, and he's got some seriously cool moves. You can even check out his comic book on display in his classroom. Don't miss out on this epic adventure!

Meet Mr. Strong, a Cleveland, Ohio native and a die-hard Buckeye's supporter! He kicked off his academic journey at Ohio State University, where he majored in history and minored in philosophy. He then took his passion for education to the next level, earning his Masters at the University of Toledo in Middle Childhood Education.

Service to School and Community: Jenny Musiol I have been a student at LPS since sixth grade, and it has always been important to me to give back to my school and community. I am a leader of Fellowship of Christian Athletes where I get to share the gospel with fellow students, write and direct monthly chapel skits, and speak at events such as Fields of Faith.

FCA challenges me to share my faith no matter the time or place. I am also involved in my church’s youth group, production team, and children’s church ministry. I love being able to film church services in order to ensure those who cannot join in-person are still able to view the message. The children’s church ministry allows me to build relationships with younger kids and teach them about Jesus through events like sports camp or Vacation Bible School

My sports teams provide me with chances to mentor younger athletes and encourage them to have a good attitude and strong work ethic. I also enjoy working with clubs such as NHS and prom committee to coordinate events for the student body and the community. The Bible says, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Serving helps me put others before myself and to stay focused on the path God has already laid out for me.

Service to School and Community: Elizabeth Joseph

’ I’ve been attending Lowcountry since 5th grade. For the last few years, I have been involved with the leadership team of FCA. I am the co-president of middle school FCA and the vice president of High School FCA. This group has been a wonderful way to grow my faith and include Jesus in my school life.

Along with FCA, I am a part of the Diocese of Charleston Youth Evangelization team, a group of High schoolers that puts on two retreats for both Middle and High schoolers. We meet monthly and plan rigorously on skits, talks, and breakout sessions for these conferences. The most important aspect of this team is that it is all rooted in prayer. Hours are spent praying for those who will attend the conference and for the needs of those around us.

I have enjoyed spending many weekends working to serve others. It has changed who I am as a person and has allowed me to put my focus on the most important thing in my life which is my faith.
