SERVICE TO OTHERS: STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

Lawson Angner A Servant’s Heart

Upper School English teacher and Yearbook Coordinator, Vannah Scarborough, states that Lawson is the first to volunteer for any creative task. She truly has a servant's heart and is the goto girl for all things school spirited. She possesses a positive and upbeat attitude inside and outside of the classroom. I look forward to her warm hello every morning. LPS wouldn't be the same without her and we are so lucky to have her as a leader in our school

“Hi everybody! My name is Lawson Angner, and I am a Freshman here at Lowcountry Prep. This is my fourth year as a Marlin, and I’m looking forward to many more years to come! I love spending my school time with my classmates because they all feel like my brothers and sisters. Some extracurriculars I enjoy are tennis and listening to music. I have played on the Lady Marlin’s Tennis team for the past four years and took on the title of Team Captain this year with one of my good friends Sophie Elliot.”

“When I have free time at school, I like to check in with my teachers and see if they need help with any tasks. I am happy to be a part of our amazing Yearbook Committee as Junior Photographer, a member of the Honor Council, and I proudly represent the Class of 2027 as their elected representative. Outside of school and tennis, I like to babysit and support the small businesses in my community. I also love to go the beach and shop with friends. If you see me on or off campus feel free to say hi, I’ll always say it back!! :)) “

INTRODUCING OUR NEW PTO PRESIDENT

INTRODUCING OUR NEW PTO PRESIDENT

Robin Johnson jjj.

FAMILY APPRECIATION NIGHT Hello Marlin family! I’m excited to lead our active PTO for the 2023-2024 school year. I was looking for a way to give back to our community and saw the search for a PTO President to help orchestrate the events and fundraisers for our school. As you may know, the current tuition fees only cover about 87% of our school expenditures and that’s where PTO helps to bridge the gap. In addition to fundraising, I envision the PTO as a way to help bring our school community together by supporting students, parents, teachers and staff at large. One of the ways the PTO has implemented this is through creating opportunities for parents to volunteer to chair various events throughout the year. Each chairperson then creates a committee of parents to help them. And let me just say, I’m so thankful for our wonderful volunteers as there is no way I could do this without them!

A few of the exciting events we have planned for this year are:

● Fall Raise Craze Fundraiser Goal: $30,000 + 1000 AOK’s! ● Veterans Day/ Grandparents Day Program ● Family Appreciation Night Potluck Dinner ● Holiday Teacher Luncheon ● Lower School Valentines Day Dance ● Middle School Dance ● Spring Bash Fundraiser Goal: $60,000 +

● Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week

I grew up in High Point, NC and graduated from Appalachian State University… go mountaineers! I’ve been a Murrells Inlet resident for 16 years now after moving from Greensboro. I’ve also lived in Winston Salem,Hickory, Charlotte, Mount Pleasant and even Little Rock. My dream is to live abroad if only for a summer in Europe!

My husband, Winfield, is an attorney at Bellamy Law Firm and our teenage daughter Hanna is a 9th grader at Lowcountry. We decided to join LCP after challenging middle school experiences coming out of covid. We love the small class sizes, the caring teachers and educational opportunities.. especially the trips abroad! We are excited to visit Greece and Italy this summer after an amazing experience in France.
