• 250g groenboontjies, grof opgekap

• 3 groot aartappels – geskil en halveer

• 1 groot tamatie, geskil en opgekap

• 3 teelepel bisto-poeier aangemaak met halwe koppie koue water

• 2 teelepels “Knorr Bolognaise Cook-In Sauce” poeier

• 2 eetlepels asyn

• Sout en peper na smaak

• Kookwater

METODE:

• Plaas nekstukke in diep kastrol, gooi genoeg kouewater oor totdat vleis mooi bedek is.

• Voeg asyn by, plaas deksel op en kook dan tot droog en vleis begin potbraai.

• Voeg uie, knoffel en botter by en roerbraai alles saam tot lekker bruin en geurig.

• Gooi net genoeg kookwater oor om als te bedek, plaas deksel op en kook stadig vir 40 min.

• Voeg jou wortels, boontjies, aartappel en tamatie by.

• Gooi nog kookwater oor om als te dek en kook stadig tot groente sag is.

• Sprinkel met “Knorr Bolognaise Cook-In Sauce”, voeg aangemaakte bisto by, sout en peper na smaak en roer effens deur. Laat prut vir paar minute.

• Verwyder pot van plaat en laat rus vir 10 minute voor jy bedien.

• Sit voor met rys, stampmielies of lekker potbrood.

"South Africa is fast slipping down global competiveness rankings with a 500% increase in sick leave since 2001," says a leading medical specialist. A mammoth R19 billion is lost every year due to absenteeism in South Africa. The specialist asserts that with appropriate planning and management, corporate South Africa is ideally positioned to reverse these worrying trends.

One of the greatest challenges facing South African employers nowadays is to achieve a balance between keeping operational costs manageable while maintaining high productivity levels within a harmonious workplace. Without doubt, attractive staff benefits coupled with a pleasant, safe working environment can go a long way towards ensuring a productive, healthy and stable workforce.

South Africa, unlike many other countries, suffers from a quadruple burden of disease, namely infectious diseases, like Covid-19, HIV/AIDS, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) otherwise known as chronic diseases of lifestyle, and high rates of interpersonal violence and injuries. These can all result in a loss of valued skill and expertise, a decrease in productivity and profits, psychological problems and stress with a dependence on alcohol and drugs often compounding the situation.

The report revealed that while tuberculosis remains South Africa's biggest killer, diseases related to lifestyle, which include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, and cancer, among many others, are accounting for more and more deaths. "These diseases have a particularly devastating effect on businesses and productivity levels," it was asserted. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that NCDs will be the most common cause of death by 2030, far outstripping deaths from infectious diseases, maternal, perinatal and nutritional diseases combined.

Ultimately, the responsibility lies with the employer to invest in their employees' by ensuring employment benefits such as medical savings accounts, medical insurance or medical aid as well as the overall wellness programmes that create positive responses from employees in terms of job satisfaction and career growth.
