LovejoyCommunity,

There is nothing better than the eager anticipation, hope, and opportunity of a new school year. We cannot wait to welcome our students back to school on Thursday, August 8th. Our teachers and staff have been working hardtoensureyourchildhasasuccessfulstart totheschoolyear.Thisweek,Lovejoyteachers have been deeply engaged in professional development. As part of our new school year preparations, we were excited to support our teachers with additional high-quality curricular and andinstructionalresources.Ourteachersdeservetohaveallthetoolstheyneedat their fingertips to provide our students with rigorous learning experiences. Investment in this area is intended to support, streamline, and align the critical workofourteachers.

Last Saturday, we had a ton of fun at the Lucas Farmer’s Market back to school event. Lovejoy students and staff came out to show their support, including our incredibleDrumlineandseveralofourstudentathletes.Mr.Wieller,LovejoyHigh School Principal, and I braved the dunk tank and were on the losing end of numerous Lovejoy ISD kiddos with great aim. I also had the opportunity to purchase some beautiful art from Lovejoy ISD student, Kate Tanner. The City of LucasputsalotofloveintotheFarmersMarketanditisawonderfulwaytospend aSaturdaymorningwithyourfamily.

Please be sure to enroll your student(s) by noon on Sunday, August 4th. All students,includingthosereturning,mustenrollthroughPowerSchool.Itiscritical thatwehavecurrentinformationtosupportthelearning,health,andsafetyofyour child. We cannot wait to see you and our students at our campus back-to-school eventsonAugust6th.

ENROLLMENT

In preparation for the 2024-2025 school year, Lovejoy ISD has updated the student enrollment process. Student enrollment records contain extremely important contact and safety information that must be updated annually; therefore, class lists and schedules will only be released if student enrollmentiscomplete.

Complete All Forms - A parent or guardian must complete all student enrollmentformsforeachenrolledstudent. 2.

EnrollmentDeadline:AllformsmustbecompletedbySunday,August4th atNoon.

BUS SERVICE INFORMATION

In preparation for the 24-25 school year, all bus fees have been assessed in RevTrakforallon-timebusregistrations. Paymentsmaybemadethroughhere orviacheckattheLovejoyAdministrationBuilding.

BusRoutesarecompleteandpostedonline;however,adjustmentswillbemade asnewstudentscontinuetobeadded. PleasecheckonlineAugust7thforthe mostup-to-daterouteinformation.

To request late registration please email Transportation@LovejoyISD.net and they will provide waiting list instructions. Please note: Bus service may be delayedordeniedduetolateregistration.

Class lists and schedules will be released on August 5th through PowerSchool for students with completed enrollment forms. Access enrollment forms through the PowerSchool ParentPortal.

BACK TO SCHOOL TRAFFIC REMINDERS

As we continue preparing our classrooms and campuses to welcome students andfamiliesbacktoschoolwewantedtoshareacoupleremindersaboutthe firstcoupleweeksofschool:

Pleaseplantoallowforadditionaldrivetimeforthefirst2weeksofschool. Increasedtrafficvolumeandslowertrafficflowduringarrivalanddismissal willcausecarpooltotakelongerthannormalforthefirst2weeks.

Ifutilizingbusservice,pleasekeepinmindthatrouteswillmostlikelyrun slower,forbothAMandPM,forthefirst2weeksofschool.

Pleasedoublecheckthatyouhavereceivedyourcampusarrival/dismissal plan relating to parking and carpool, as they may have changed from last year.

Lastly,pleasehelpushaveasuccessfulandsafekickofftothe2024/2025school year by exercising extra patience and extending extra grace during these next fewweeks.

ATTENDANCE

AccordingtoTEA,ifastudentisnotphysicallypresentandinaseatonthefirst dayofschoolthentheywillbecodeda"noshow."Codingastudentanoshow willtemporarilydisabletheirschedule.

Whenthestudentreturnstoschool,thestudentorparentwillneedtovisitthe campus counselor or PEIMS/data clerk to have their schedule reactivated. Please plan on having your student arrive early to school so this can be done beforetheirfirstclass.
