Today was The Foundation for Lovejoy Schools Grant Patrol Day! The Foundation for Lovejoy Schoolsvisitedeachofourschoolsandawarded grantstoouramazingeducatorsforprojectsthat enhancelearningopportunitiesforstudents.The FoundationisanimportantpartofLovejoyISD’s Legacy of Excellence. Through their hard work andyourgenerosity,theFoundationwasableto fund approximatley $650,000 in grant requests. AbigLovejoycongratulationstoJoshuaJamesonearningfirstplaceonthewriting portion of the UIL State Computer Science Competition. The Lovejoy High School Computer Science Team earned 5th place at State. Congratulations to Joshua James, Hannah Mao, Brady Kofahl and their coach, Pam Ford, on this significant achievement!

We would love for you to join us at our annual Lovejoy AP Studio Visual Arts Exhibition this Saturday, May 18th. The exhibition is open from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and takes place in Fairview Town Center at 183 Town Place. My family and I are looking forward to dinner out and enjoying time at the AP Studio Visual Arts Exhibition. I can promise you that you will be more than impressed at the remarkableskillofourvisualartistsandtheexcellenceofourvisualartsprogram.
We are quickly approaching the end of the school year. With five more days of school left, I hope our students are able to reflect on the growth they have made and enjoy the relationships they have fostered with their peers and teachers. We will finish the 2023-2024 school year strong next week and hold the graduation ceremonyfortheClassof2024onSaturday,May25th.

This award is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon an individual by our PTO. Each year, the community nominates a parent, volunteer, teacher, administratororcommunityleaderwhohasgoneaboveandbeyondintheirserviceof students.Somecontributionsarebigandvisible,whileothershappenquietlybehind the scenes, making a huge impact all the same. Committees from each local PTO reviewedmorethan130submissionstochooseacommunitymemberandstaffperson to honor. We are grateful for all the nominations and amazed at the impact the nomineeshavehadonourcampusesandinourcommunity.

It was the perfect day in every way! Puster Elementary had three very important new administrators on Tuesday. Puster students Jay Garza, Ford Hamilton, and Kendall Buskuhl served as 1/2 day campus principal, assistant principal, and counselor respectively. They held important meetings, recorded announcements, hosted campus tours, and made important decisions. Itwasafunandmemoroablemorningforall!Thisspecialactivitywasmade possible by donations made through the Foundation for Lovejoy Schools auction at DenimandDiamonds. Thankyouforyourcontributions!
On Wednesday night we celebrated 29 amazing student athletes at our Special Olympics Banquet. These students competed in Basketball Skill as well as Track and Field events this year and brought home many gold, silver and bronze medals. We are excited to add BocceBallnextyear!
Sloan Creek Student Council packed 500 lunches for the Samaritan Inn in McKinney. These young Leopards are exemplifying our Graduate Profile by, “responding in love and service to thoseinneed.” Weare#LovejoyProud of them for their selflessness and service. View Lovejoy’s Graduate profilehere.
The SCIS Band and Orchestra performedintheirInstrumental Music Festival at Lovejoy High School this morning. Both groups received first division ratings from both judges and made beautiful music for all!

The next day Game 1 resumedandtheLeopardswerevictorious(3-2).Game2wasplayed30minafterGame 2andtheLeopardstookcareofbusinessinGame2(4-1)leadingtocapturingthetitle ofAreaChamps!

The Leopard football team finished its first spring football practices under new head coach Todd Dodge. It has been a great spring with coaches teaching players a new offensive and defensive system and having some of our new coaches build relationshipswithourplayers.Ourrisingfreshmancametowatchalotofourpractices so they could be around the coaches and players as well. We are excited for football season!

Lovejoy Softball ended their season this past Saturday after a tough battle with the Forney Jackrabbits. We finished the season with a record of 23-12-1, beating two #1 teams in Texas, accomplishing co-district champions (something that has not been doneintenyears)andfinishingasRegionalQuarter-Finalists.WeareSOproudofnot only their accomplishments, but the heart and soul they poured into each other this season.Thesesixteengirlsbattleduntiltheveryendtogether.Toourtwoseniors,we are SO proud of you and cannot wait to see you be successful in your future college careers.
