MESSAGE
from the Superintendent
LovejoyCommunity,
On Wednesday, the High School StudentSuperintendent Connection Council visited kindergarten students at Hart Elementary School and Puster Elementary School to teach them what itmeanstobeaLovejoyLeopard.Thisschoolyear, thecouncilauthoredaspecialbooktitledthe“The Leopard Way” for our kindergarten students. The book is grounded in the Lovejoy Graduate Profile, butwrittenatakindergartenlevel.Theillustrations included in the book were drawn by students at eachgradelevel.
The high school students did an excellent job of reading the book to the Class of 2036, teaching them how to make the double Ls with their right hand, andgivingthemaLeotheLeopardkeychain for their backpack. The Q&A portion of the lesson involved the kindergarteners bombarding the high schoolers with adorable questions, like “What is yourfavoritedinosaur?”and“Whatisyourfavorite thingaboutbeinginhighschool?”.Thereisnothing that makes me prouder than big Leopards positivelyimpactinglittleLeopards.
Lovejoy’sLegacyofExcellenceinacademics, the arts, and athletics continues. Lovejoy High School students had a remarkable performance at the UIL Academic District Meet qualifying for Regionals! A list of their accomplishments begins on page 21. THE LEOPARD WAY
Earier this school year, the Lovejoy High School Student-Superintendent Connection Council was given the opportunity to collaboratively address a LOVEJOY 2030 Stratetgic Target (2.2): the vertical alignment of our graduate profilefrompre-kthrough12thgrade.
Thecouncilwastaskedwithfindingacreativewaytoalignthegraduateprofile acrossallgradelevels.Totacklethischallenge, thecouncilcreatedantangible resource, an illustrated book called, “The Leopard Way” to teach our graduate profiletoyoungergrades.
In addition to authoring the book, students on the Student-Superintendent ConnectionCouncilcrafteddescriptionsofillustrationsforeachgradelevel(K8),withafocusoncapturingthegraduateprofilethroughaKindergartner'slens. K-8 students were then selected to create illustrations. Last week, the council presentedthebooktostudentsatHartElementaryandPusterElementary!
