PRAISE THE LORD! FOR ANSWERED PRAYERS…

On August 14th, 2021, a strong, 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the southern part of Haiti, severely damaging many cities and burying people in the rubble. More than 2,200 people lost their lives when homes, hospitals, and churches collapsed. Over 12,200 people were injured, and 130,000 houses were damaged or destroyed. There was unbelievable destruction and despair among the Haitian people. God led us to “put our hands to the plow” and take massive steps in earthquake disaster relief efforts for victims who lost everything. With your help, we worked with our Haitian staff and local contacts in these areas (like Mayor Yvrose in Jeremie and Hubert), passing out tons of food, such as rice, beans, cooking oil, etc. Everyone, even our children from the Children’s Home, came together to help give out donated blankets, sheets, handmade children’s clothing, medications, and other disaster relief supplies. We also distributed more than 2,000 tents to families that lost their homes. It hurt our hearts to see these poor families displaced with no homes and in desperate need. So, we prayed, and, in obedience, we were led to build 100 “Gabion houses” for the earthquake victims. These three-bedroom houses are very strong and are made from local materials using local labor. We want to thank all of our partners who sacrificed, with gifts of all sizes, to care for and provide hope for the poor during the aftermath of this devastating natural disaster. You are changing and saving lives!

Vilmond and his wife are in their late 80s. The earthquake in south Haiti left them and their family of 23 homeless. Thanks to your love, the Lundiçois family are recipients of one of the first thirty homes built by Love A Child in the area of Arnold, Haiti.
