Demitasse
Demitasse (pronounced “DEHmee-toss”) is a two piece acoustic group. It is the side project for Erik Sanden and oe Reyes of the Texas art rock band uttercup. Singing at the very limits of their range, the duo gets sherpa high with their vocals, mixing melody, spoken word, and noise. The sound is somewhere between Simon and arfunkel, eonard Cohen, and the each oys on a dark day. Or Elliott Smith on an extremely bright, sunny day. Or John Cale tossing his car keys to Neil Young.
Femina-X
emina- is an avant-garde electronic soul band created by Daniela Riojas (vocals, autoharp, programming) and Alex Scheel (synthesizer, guitar, programming , who were later joined by eff alacios bass , and Chris Cooper (drums). Using a blend of electronic beats, atmosphere, and foundational live instruments, the music stems from a hunger to evolve and merge magic with blues, trip-hop, jungle, and pop. Through a primal-meets-modern hybrid of machine and (wo)man, it actively hones in on the colorful space between any and all labels, while creating unconventional fusions taking from sounds of nature, ancestors, electricity, modernity, and visions of ecstatic living. Known for his mastery of danceable Latin-infused yet experimental beats, Alex Scheel from local psych-rock band, Pop Pistol, incorporates his knack for amplifying song performance to a shamanistic trance. Alex Scheel conducts electronic programming while skillfully toggling from voice to guitar to laptop, lending his hand at every musical element. Jeff Palacios, deepens the overall landscape with the unique task of being a rhythmic yet melodic counterpart to the electronic bass and sub-bass movements. Chris Cooper humanizes quantized beats with frenetic poly-rhythms and four-on-the- oor power. Daniela’s chameleon voice has the range to both coo and siren, lull and frighten, always reaching from a place of passion, imagination, and child-like playfulness. Her vision, melody, and lyrics construct the world within each song, pulling from her ability to narrate and share the deeply personal with an edge of fantasy.

Elena had a clear vision for the kind of music she wanted to create and made the decision to begin her own project. They met drummer Daniel uente and Elena extended an invitation to him to join them. Not long after, Elena posted a notice on Facebook that she was looking for a guitarist for her newly formed band. Austin Jimison responded that he was interested in joining the lineup. After some conversation Octahedron’s current lineup came to fruition. Octahedron has worked tirelessly writing and performing original music. They have played an average of one show a week and are always developing new material. The band has been involved in projects that have assisted the San Antonio ood ank and a local homeless program. They will often note that they are “making music to make life better.”
Pop Pistol
Where some see darkness, music mystics bring light. Somewhere within the indigenous blood that still ows through the icano trio op istol is a shamanistic connection to all realms of nature, space, time, animals, the divine, and magic. A combination of cosmic intuition and intentions to shape culture, the music of Pop Pistol envelops the passenger in a dream-scape of spirits and mass; this is teleportation through sound. The band began releasing recordings in 2006. Propelled by the arrival of their first full-length album Angelus’ in late , op istol steadily rose in visibility at home following up with the release of two more EPs; Shadow and Disappearing Edges . This year’s work has landed the guys on the cover of IngiteSA and labeled them est Indie Rock and in an annual readers’ poll from the San Antonio Current. The band has received noteworthy invitations to share the stage with various international artists, from a ida oheme, Sol ereyra, and u uka oderosa, to ilter, Dev, and Minus the ear. Perhaps their greatest accomplishment comes with the release of Animal Prisms in October 2012. Animal Prisms was engineered and produced 100% by the band alone with vinyl mastering credit to rammy nominated ob Catlin. The album intertwines lyrics and artwork with themes of instinct—chase, catch, and release. rom start to finish, Animal risms’ has an ambience that resembles a tribal exorcism; purging what haunts you, providing a room for it to breathe in. In 2014, Pop Pistol released the remix record Afterlife featuring many local electronic artists contributing their musical talents to the Pop Pistol universe. op istol is Alex aul Scheel, ocals Gonzalez, Drums
