GUEST BAND BIOS The Please Help Phillip Luna – vocals Juan Miguel Ramos – drums George Lara – bass Javier Padilla – guitar The Please Help combines modern pop, indie rock, strong vocals, and universal lyrics into one focused, mature, wellwritten artistic adventure for people of all ages and lovers of all music genres. With themes of love, outerspace, human interaction, and more love, The Please Help is a band to be seen, and their debut LP is one to be listened to over and over and shared with friends. Fronted by Phillip Luna, a full time artist and musician, he has been a consummate contributor to the San Antonio art and music community for almost three decades. A self taught multi-instrumentalist, his visual art and musical compositions are primarily based on behavioral and emotional health struggles and love. Juan has been a longtime San Antonio drummer. He has performed with bands Sexto Sol, Suzy Bravo & the Soul Revue, Sun-day, and 90s influential band Glorium. Juan is an artist, art educator, and a co-founder of San Anto Cultural Arts. Both Phillip and Juan were raised at Taco Land. George is a native San Antonian and has been playing bass for 25 years. He has been a member of Glorium and Sexto Sol. Juan and George first played in 1992. Guitarist Javier is a performer, writer, taco enthusiast, and a fifteen-year veteran of the San Antonio scene. He makes his home inside Loop 410, where he lives with his records, an espresso maker, two cats, and a pit bull mix named Marley. Sioux & Fox Josh Barrios – guitar, vocals John Morgan – bass guitar, vocals Noah Luna – piano, vocals Austin Burns – ukelele, vocals Sioux and Fox is a young local San Antonio band that characterizes what it means to be a four-piece group. With each member contributing vocals, instrumentation and creative input, the group is definitely a staple when it comes to seeing a band perform live. Formed by members Josiah Barrios and Austin Burns, the group also consists of multi-instrumentalists John Morgan and Noah Luna. The songwriting of this group has drawn comparisons to bands such as local natives, the Beatles, Young the Giant, and Fleet Foxes. With an EP currently in the works, the young quartet looks forward to many more amazing opportunities, shows, and times to share and make music.

YOUTH ORCHESTRAS OF SAN ANTONIO | ABBEY ROAD LIVE Octahedron Elena Lopez – lead vocals Austin Jimison – vocals, guitar Ruben Lopez – bass guitar Daniel Puente – drums For over two years, Octehedron has strived to make music in order to make life better. Working with an array of local musicians and businesses, they have made their mark on the local scene. Octahedron is currently working on their first full-length album. Femina-X Daniela Riojas – lead vocals Alex Paul Scheel – guitar Jeff Palacios – bass guitar Darian Thomas – violin Jai Roots – drums Femina-X is an experimental multi-genre band created by Daniela Riojas and Alex Scheel, who were later joined by Jeff Palacios, Darian Thomas, and Jai Roots. They use a blend of samples and live instruments, drawing musical influence from Latin ethnic dance, cumbia, ritual trance, hip-hop, jungle, industrial, drum and bass, and alternative ballad pop. Through a primal-meets-modern hybrid of organic rhythms and forward-thinking melodic interplays, Femina-X actively hones in on the colorful space between any and all labels while creating unconventional fusions taken from sounds of nature, historical events, the embedded goddess, ancestral voices, and modernity. Daniela’s chameleon voice has the range to both coo and siren, lull and frighten – always reaching from a place of passion, imagination, and child-like playfulness. Her vision, melody, and lyrics construct the world within each song, pulling from her ability to narrate and share the deeply personal with an edge of fantasy.

YOUTH ORCHESTRAS OF SAN ANTONIO | ABBEY ROAD LIVE Deer Vibes Michael Carrillo – vocals, guitar Courtney Jeanette Sanchez – vocals Devin De Leon – guitar Emilio Gomez – guitar Jordan McCarthy – bass Stephen Flores – trumpet Julian Escobedo III – trombone Deer Vibes is an indie rock band, a musical collective including as few as five and as many as fifteen members, formed in 2009 by Michael Carrillo and Devin De Leon. Most of its members currently play in various other groups and solo projects, mostly in San Antonio, however in Austin and Dallas as well. The group has two releases under its belt, one being the EP, “Ventura” in 2011, and the long awaited full length “The Nature Of...” in December of 2015. The group is often characterized by its very large number of sounds and its grand orchestrations featuring guitars, horns, violins, violas, and cellos. Buttercup Erik Sanden – vocals odie – bass guitar, vocals Joe Reyes – electric guitar, vocals Emilio Navaira – electric guitar, vocals Diego Navaira – electric guitar, vocals Buttercup, a life-affirming art rock band from Texas, has written hundreds of original songs that NPR calls “jangly art rock for the left side of the brain.” Since 2004, the band has released seven fulllength recordings and a DVD documentary. They have toured the US and have shared the stage with Jonathan Richman, Elliott Smith, Rhett Miller (the Old 97s), Ian Moore, Jad Fair, The Apples in Stereo, Salim Nourallah, and Willie Nelson. Buttercup is a trio of distinct personalities: singer Erik Sanden, guitarist Joe Reyes, and bassist odie. The three joined forces in 2003 and have remained the best of friends. In this way, Buttercup is a real band, like U2 or the Osmonds, with long term membership (original members) and a large body of work. Erik Sanden functions largely as a frontman: he is terribly handsome, nigh-literate, and his humor tends towards the absurd. Joe Reyes is famous for his unwavering smile, generous nature and, oh yeah, for his Grammy. Odie, a Texas treasure, brings unconventional voicings, deep sartorial sense, and rock-and-roll-animal power both to the bass and to his cooking. (He has been known to craft high-quality sandwiches on stage.) Their newest recording Battle of Flowers is being mixed by Larry Crane (Elliott Smith, Death Cab for Cutie, Sleater-Kinney) in Portland, Oregon, and is slated for a late summer release on Bedlamb Records.

YOUTH ORCHESTRAS OF SAN ANTONIO | ABBEY ROAD LIVE We Leave At Midnight John Dailey – guitar, vocals Cris Galvan – guitar Raul Alvarez – bass, vocals Chris Guerra – keys, vocals Kory Cook – drums Chris Maddin – aux, vocals This five-piece indie rock collective hails from the Alamo City, creating a refreshing blend of melodic pop and timeless R&B. The combined efforts of complex chord progressions and doo-wop harmonies has become the very staple of what is known as We Leave at Midnight. “If you took Crosby, Stills & Nash and overdubbed them the way the Beatles recorded “Because”, added the Band, Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys, and added a pinch of doo-wop and blended it all with the most pop-friendly yet artsy sounds you can find from the 70’s through the 90’s” – Enrique Lopetegui SA Current. Alyson Alonzo & The Sugar Skulls Alyson Alonzo – vocals Jeff Palacios – guitar Dominic Walsh – drums George Garza – bass Darian Thomas – violin Jaime Ramirez – keys Julian Escobedo – trombone Alexis Cavazos – trumpet Adam Tutor – alto sax Sean Nelson – clarinet Sugar Skulls is the brainchild of Alyson Alonzo and Jeff Palacios. They started jamming at a house party in 2010 and, after playing a few shows together, slowly realized that they could turn music into magic and captivate an audience. Alyson Alonzo’s voice and Jeff’s guitar melodies seem to be melded together in perfect harmony. After years of hard work and dedication, the group has evolved into a 10-piece dream team that boasts a full band as well as strings and a horn section. Their first EP is highly anticipated in the San Antonio music scene. You never want to miss a Sugar Skulls performance.

YOUTH ORCHESTRAS OF SAN ANTONIO | ABBEY ROAD LIVE YesBodyElse Matthew Rose – vocals, drums Lewis Sussman – vocals Dale Johnson – bass Rachel Laven – vocals Joe Reyes – guitar YesBodyElse was formed in San Antonio in 2014. The band performs eclectic songs based on real experiences, anecdotes, and pure lies. It makes no claim to follow a genre, rather choosing to go where Matthew Rose’s musical influences and ideas lead it, from world-roots through country to rock and pop, blues and beyond. The music emphasizes harmony and humor. YBE released the 16-track CD “ElseWhere” in 2016 and DT Buffkin of the San Antonio Current noted that “the songwriting is absolutely there.” YBE performs mostly in Southtown and invites supreme guests to join the show, which is always a party. Later this year, the band will record a children’s record and will perform another Liberty Bar Tuesday residency in May with the requisite raft of excellent guests. fishermen Gabe Medina – keys, vocals Edwin J. Stephens – lead vocals, lead guitar Eli Medina – guitar, vocals Roy Scavone – bass guitar Omar Rosel – guitar, vocals, keys Jeremy Dowd – drums, vocals your humble friends from San Antonio, Texas. tugging at your heart strings, aiming for your conscience. Their sound is alternative rock with some elements of progressive rock, folk rock, and hard rock. The band formed in January of 2016 and evolved out of the local indie rock band, December’s End, which had just completed a one-year hiatus. December’s End was an all acoustic band made of twin sisters, Mandy and Maggie, and their husbands, Chris and Jon. After Mandy began writing with electric guitar during their hiatus in 2015 and after meeting fellow musicians Travis and Garrett at their church, jam sessions turned into writing sessions, which gave birth to the Emissaries. The band is currently working on recording and releasing a live EP sometime in Summer 2016. Check their website (www. emissariesband.com) for news, contact information, gig schedule, and updates.
