The association was formed in 1968 to promote, protect and preserve the San Antonio River Walk. This is done through special events, public education and Rio Magazine. Ford Holiday Boat Caroling Tuesday-Sunday only November 30-December 21
Reserve a festive caroling boat and sing along to recorded popular Christmas music. Music lyrics are provided. Boats are either $125 or $150 accommodating up to 20 people. Great fun for family, friends, co-workers, church groups and entertaining clients. Event details and registration online.
Ford Fiesta de las Luminarias
Fridays-Sundays only November 30-December 16 More than 2,000 luminarias warmly glow in bags lining the walkways to symbolically mark the “lighting of the way� for the Holy Family. This centuries old tradition begins at dusk.

Through January 6 5:30pm - 6:30am The world-famous Christmas lights are a gift to the public from the San Antonio River Walk Association and the City of San Antonio. 122,000 lights are draped over the bald cypress trees that line the River Walk.

Grand Marshal, SPEAKER JOE STRAUS
This year’s parade Grand Marshal, the Honorable Joe Straus, is the Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. He is the first Speaker of the House from San Antonio in a century and one of the longest-serving Speakers in Texas history. Speaker Straus’ family has been instrumental in making downtown San Antonio the treasure that it is today: His uncle, David Straus, played a major role in the development of the River Walk, and his mother, Joci Straus, founded the Las Casas Foundation, which oversaw the restoration of the Majestic Theatre and the Empire Theatre. Speaker Straus is joined on the float by his wife, Julie Brink Straus, and by their daughters, Sara and Robyn.

German Christmas BEETHOVEN KINDERCHOR The Beethoven Kinderchor is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to preserving German heritage in San Antonio through the singing of traditional German children’s songs. The Kinderchor meets on Tuesday at the Beethoven Halle during the school year. Children, ages 4-15, who would like to sing in German are welcomed and encouraged to join. Participation is free.
