in your hands
Lavena, cello + vocals | William Herzog, violin, tracks 2-4 | Jeff Stern, percussion, tracks 6-9
My greatest thanks to all of the amazing people who contributed their time, space, expertise, advice, money, and/or love to this album and all that went into it, including Peter Dayton, Ben Frock, Joe Magar, Julia Sheriff, Eric D'Alessandro, Scott Metcalfe, Katie Yurrow, Lydia Martin, Britt Olsen-Ecker, Marian Claire Holmes, Andrew Bove, and Bright Shiny Things, who took a chance on me when no one else would. Special thanks to my incredible duo partners William Herzog and Jeff Stern (they say always play with people who are better than you, because then you rise to their level - hopefully I was able to do so), and to the composers Gemma Peacocke, Jessie Montgomery, Caroline Shaw, Ted Hearne, and Bryce Dessner, whose music inspired me and became part of me. This album would not be what it is without the dedication, hard work, talent, and loyalty of Edwin Huet - I'll never forget talking about this project years ago in The Bun Shop with you! - and I also want to shout out Jason Treuting and Beth Meyers for expressing an interest in my album idea before it had even become real, because that conversation became part of the catalyst for me to finally take action. I cannot thank my family enough - Eli & Toni, Mom and Dad, Hans, Evan, and Jinyu - without their generous support and love, this would not have been possible. And finally, to Judah: you gave me everything...I am so privileged to get to share this life with you.
