Early in our life as Sybarite5, we had the good fortune of finding a home venue in NYC at the Cell Theatre. The Cell quickly became a space to incubate, explore new collaborations and continually connect with our audiences. Our concerts at the Cell over the past decade have included dozens of world premieres - many of which have discovered indelible favorites in our repertoire. On this album, we bring you live performances of these works by composers whose unique voices resonate with our ensemble.

These works are happily diverse and as different from one another as they could possibly be. We’re also thrilled that this is our first album featuring guest artists: percussionist and Co-Artistic Director of the Silkroad Ensemble Shane Shanahan; acclaimed mezzo-soprano Blythe Gaissert; and Iranian santoor player Ehsan Matoori. While nothing can replace the feeling of being in the concert hall for a live performance, we hope this album comes close.
