MEMBERSHIP MATTERS MEMBERSHIP MATTERS From the President
Come Together
An amazing event just happened at the Louisville Boat Club After months of planning and a little luck with the weather our staff and army of volunteers pulled off the annual City Meet swim competition at the LBC with flawless execution Our member, Reid Hafer, chaired a committee that covered every detail and contingency while our staff/employees worked unimaginable hours leading up to the event and throughout the weekend For our members not involved, a special thank you to you, too, as your patience was certainly tested for your regular activities at the Club were postponed for a few days Please read elsewhere in the newsletter for more accolades and City Meet results

Right Now
This is a great time of year at the Club and there is still plenty of Summer remaining with more activities at the pool and pavilion, the upcoming Dock Party, prime boating days, Tennis Club Championships, and Labor Day festivities on the horizon
Whether you are a Club member for “ x ” number of years, a current or past Board Member or a current President of our 150-year-old Club, it is a continuous effort to keep the history and tradition of the LBC preserved while taking action to improve the Club for current and future members
Future Club planning is now on deck after getting through many internal improvements, the Boat Race, and City Meet The current Board can now focus more on recent survey suggestions and other large projects at the Club while also considering important “facelifts” and maintenance needed Large projects include expanding our Indoor tennis facility to include more tennis courts, designated pickleball courts, an additional squash court, and a Padel court Other suggestions include a golf facility on the grounds, a fishing pond, and lighted tennis courts Also, an expansion of the Clubhouse 2nd floor to create more space for weddings, meetings and storage On the “facelift” list, we need to update the décor of the 2nd floor to keep pace with our recent upgrade to the Crow’s Nest While our pool pavilion is spectacular, an upgrade to our entire pool area is well overdue On the “ nofun” but imperative maintenance list: new roof for the Clubhouse, re-paving all our parking lots, and an overhaul of our Kitchen
It is an exciting time at the LBC and all these discussions are very encouraging for the future of the Club! But now is the time to prioritize and put the discussions into action
Enjoy the last 6 weeks of summer and see you around the Club
