You know it. You know when you are facing a quality product and when you are not. Quality has its own language, its own expression. You can see it. You can feel it. You can hear it.
Our aim is to give you this experience the first time you see our wood-burning stoves and fireplace inserts. And we aim for more than that. We want you to pay attention to the flames, the clean combustion, the thickness of the glass, the sound of the door opening and closing, and the well-thought-out design.
When we think of stoves, we basically think of quality - in all dimensions. Our stoves must provide the best possible combustion and ensure the lowest possible CO2-emissions. They must be durable and solid, and their design must be functional and elegant.
With this in mind, we have been developing and producing wood-burning stoves for more than 40 years. And that is why our stoves heat up thousands of homes, particularly in Europe, but also across the rest of the world.
This catalogue provides an introduction to our wide range of wood-burning stoves. We hope you enjoy what you find, and that you will see all the options available as an obvious opportunity to get exactly the high-quality stove you are looking for.
Eco Design is an EU directive that aims to promote energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions in our environment. The initiative stipulates the overall requirements and framework for energy-consuming products, including wood-burning stoves. The requirements come into force per 1st January 2022 and will be introduced in EU and EEA countries. This means that stoves that are not approved as “Eco Design” cannot be sold in the European markets.
Here at Lotus, we have full responsibility for ensuring that our products comply with the requirements of Eco Design 2022. Our stoves are tested using reliable and accurate methods, using only recognized techniques. That is why we are proud to say that our products already meet the strictest standards, which means that our well-developed stoves are already ahead of EU standards for emission measurements and particulate emissions.
We constantly strive to offer our customers stoves with the latest technology, the best design, the highest efficiency and with respect for the environment.
Over the years, Lotus has focused on manufacturing products of the highest quality, as illustrated by the picture on the right. Lotus manufactures solid and lasting products, which come with a ten-year warranty. Spare parts and wearing parts are available for 20 years – because you are buying a quality product, designed to last for a long time.
Wood-burning stoves must be easy to operate, beautiful to look at, and environmentally friendly. Lotus has therefore chosen to prioritize quality and functionality in relation to both our design philosophy and the choice of materials. All our wood-burning stoves are tested at recognized test institutes, guaranteeing that Lotus’ products always live up to the strictest environmental requirements, irrespective of the market where our products are being sold.
Lotus wood-burning stoves and fireplace inserts are created in close collaboration between architects, designers, technicians, and suppliers all over the world. We combine Danish design traditions with the best quality components, which are sourced worldwide. Our outlook is international, and we seek to create simple and beautiful products that are rooted in both tradition and innovation. Our vision is to create a sense of unity and user-friendliness with complete products, where design, functionality, and outstanding technology appear as a whole.
Lotus has manufactured high-quality stoves since 1979, and today the range includes many unique design series within wood-burning stoves, heat storage stoves, fireplace inserts, and gas stoves. You will always be able to find a suitable stove or insert for your home that meets the needs of your family, so you can spend time in each other’s company in front of the fire and the dancing flames.
A new product from Lotus comes into being through meetings between designers, technicians, salespeople, and suppliers. Gradually the product begins to take shape, from hand-drawn sketches to computer files and, finally, a well-designed, solid, and well-made quality product.
Creating moments is one thing, but we must also take responsibility in the long run - for the environment and for the world’s resources.
When purchasing a Lotus product, you can rest assured that high priority has been given to its combustion technology, ensuring a clean combustion both at a low and at a high output. Furthermore, we do our utmost to minimize the impact on the environment when producing the stove. Last, but not least, the product’s long lifespan ensures a positive lifecycle assessment in relation to the world’s limited resources.
Lotus collaborates with several test institutes, professional and industrial bodies etc. to ensure optimum products, environmental considerations.
When you use your Lotus wood-burning stove or fireplace insert, you are helping to take responsibility and do your bit for the environment.
Burning wood is CO2-neutral, and every year it saves Denmark and the rest of the world from burning large volumes of fossil fuels. Wood fuel is part of a natural cycle, with CO2 being released when the wood rots in the forest or is burned in a stove. The CO2 is recaptured when new trees grow. A very short cycle, and one, which for fossil fuels takes an infinite length of time. Therefore, in using your Lotus wood-burning stove or fireplace insert, you are helping to mitigate the greenhouse effect and climate changes.
The brochure, which you are now holding in your hands, is also an environmentally friendly and sustainable publication. Printed on the right paper and sustainably produced. You must also be aware of your responsibilities when using your Lotus woodburning stove or fireplace insert.
ALWAYS use the right firewood and follow the operating instructions. Then you can be proud of what you are doing for the environment and the climate. We might not be able to change the world on our own, but together we can.
Fuel consumption, optimum utilization, and efficiency are all words, which we encounter to an increasing extent in our daily lives. We must look after our environment and the natural world, which is why it is important that we make the most of the available resources.
Consequently, at Lotus we strive to ensure that you get the most possible heating out of every kilogramme of wood that you burn in your Lotus stove. For this reason, we have introduced the term ‘Hourly Consumption’. This consumption symbol is clearly stated by each of our models in this brochure:
It shows how much – or rather how little – wood is required for your Lotus stove to operate most efficiently and utilize the wood most effectively based on assessments by us and the test institutes. At this consumption, the balance between dynamism and efficiency is estimated to be at its optimum.
Your Lotus stove has a perfectly optimized combustion chamber. By modulating the air flow more effectively in the combustion chamber combined with the best possible materials, you achieve a good and environmentally friendly fuel economy.
How ‘aggressively’ you fire your stove will inevitably have an impact on the fuel economy. Using a lot of fuel with the air vent wide open is like driving your car with the accelerator pushed to the floor – and not as efficient as firing with the recommended volumes = ‘economy driving’. Aggressive firing can result in losing as much as 20-25% of the stove’s efficiency. Recent technological developments also become evident when you compare a new stove with an older wood-burning stove. Here, newly developed, and fully optimized stoves from Lotus are up 30% better, to the benefit of the environment and your wallet.
So, look out for the ‘Hourly consumption’ symbol on each model, and you will be surprised at the savings you can expect in relation to your firewood consumption. Energy efficiency – to the benefit of you and the environment.

Heat- and temperature-distribution is the optimal choice, if you want the same level of heat released over a longer period. Lotus wood-burning stoves make it astonishingly easy for you to control, whether the heat should primarily be distributed quickly by means of convection heating or slowly via radiation heating. This is controlled by means of a simple control lever.
Soapstone and Indian Night-stones are natural stones with a unique ability to store heat and then release it slowly. The high weight of the stones and the stove’s unique construction optimally combine the mass stove’s ability to store heat and release it slowly with the wood-burning stove’s steady and controlled combustion. The heavier the stove, the more heat it can store to release later.
If you opt for a slow heat distribution, you will simultaneously be building up a higher temperature in the stone. This is regulated easily by means of the elegant control lever on the stove.
The combustion chambers of all Lotus heat storage stoves are lined with materials allowing the heat to pass through the side of the combustion chamber and out into the storage mass. The high weight and the stoves’ construction allow for more heat to be stored and subsequently released evenly for several hours.
Contrary to most other stoves, Lotus heat storage stoves also heat up the lower parts of the storage mass thus achieving an optimal use of the stove’s total heat mass.
Look for the radiation/convection heating symbol at the individual stove models.
Due to the unique design of the Lotus stove, where heat is not just stored at the top of the stove but spreads throughout the storage mass, the stove works like a battery, emitting heat throughout the night.

A lot has been said and written about wood-burning stoves and the environment over the years. It is important to stress that burning wood in a Lotus wood-burning stove is just as good for the environment as it is for your budget and the enjoyment you and your family will derive from having a real fire.
Today, wood-burning stoves are subject to extremely strict environmental requirements. Our stoves do more than comply with the requirements for efficient combustion, they also lie well below the threshold values in Europe.
To ensure clean and efficient combustion, it is important that you operate your wood-burning stove correctly. Thus, firing with wet wood and household waste and restricting the air supply during combustion all have a negative impact on the environment. Therefore you should always follow the instructions, and then you will be helping to maintain a healthy and clean environment for your own sakes and that of future generations.
Sun, forests and having a clear conscience Basically, it is possible to say that the energy in a piece of wood stems from the sun, and that wood is therefore a renewable energy source. The amount of CO2 released from a piece of wood, which lies rotting in a forest basically corresponds to the amount of CO2 released from the same piece of wood when it is burned. This means that a woodburning stove from Lotus is CO2-neutral and that it does not contribute to the greenhouse effect but is, on the other hand, part of the natural cycle. In most countries, more and more forest is being planted, thus safeguarding energy supplies for the future. Thus, you can light your woodburning stove with a clear conscience, and enjoy environmentally friend heating.
Central heating is a great invention however it does not provide you with the cosiness and romance generated by a real fire.
A wood stove is also environmentally friendly as well as economic to run when burning the right sort of wood in the correct manner.
Generally, one type of wood is just as good as another when it comes to firing your wood stove. However, there is a difference in the weight of different wood types and there is also a difference in the way they burn. Light species of wood are easier to chop as well as easier to kindle – a fact making these highly suitable for kindling.
On the other hand, they do burn quicker than the heavy species of wood, and will generate somewhat less heat. Common sense will tell you how to combine the light with the heavy species of wood for economic firing.
After a tree has been felled, sawn and split, it needs to be allowed to rest and season for one to three years depend ing on the type of wood. As a general rule, the more com pact and heavy the wood, the longer it needs to season. However, wood can also be stored for too long. In addition to the wood becoming very dry, the gases disappear, which the wood otherwise releases during combustion. When the wood is stored for longer than the time it takes for the humidity of the wood to fall to 16-18%, then its calorific value slowly starts to decline before it is finally incapable of burning. So wood must be dry (16-18% humidity), but not too old!
It should be stressed that kindling and firing milk cartons or other household waste will prove harmful to your environ ment as well as to your wood stove. This also applies to firing pressure treated wood, or otherwise trea ted wood. So use nothing but untreated wood for firing, leaving the household waste and the like for the waste collection service to pick up.
The proper way: Always use wood – an environmentally friendly source of heat. The wrong way: Do not ever use milk cartons or pressure treated wood – which will contaminate your environment.
The proper way: Check that your wood is dry by beating the pieces against each other – a procedure supposed to produce a sharp sound.
The wrong way: Wet wood will produce sour smoke in the room, tarry soot in your chimney – in the worst case scenario a chimney fire.
The proper way: Use dry kindling wood for kindling, use a fire starter or similar – for quick and smooth kindling, in a manner sparing your environment.
The wrong way: Do not use paper and large logs for kindling – for this will cause slow kindling and will contaminate your environment. This also applies to milk carton or carton kindling, and similar.
The proper way: Use pieces of wood fitting your combustion chamber, and make sure that there is air between the wood and the walls of the combustion chamber in order that the pieces may be heated in one go.
The wrong way: Do not use pieces of wood which are too large - this will effect the efficiency of your stove
The proper way: Fill up your combustion chamber to manufacturer’s specifica tions only – typically using two or three pieces of chopped wood.
The wrong way: Never over-fill the combustion chamber. This will cause poor combustion, loss of heat transfer and may lead to your war ranty being voided due to overheating damage.
The proper way: Ensure that there is sufficient air going into the stove and that a flame is visible. A flame should always be visible to enable efficient combustion to take place.
The wrong way: Dark flames signal a sign of impure combustion. Turning your air supply down too much will release un-burned gases through the chimney, to the detriment of the environment and to your own firing economy.
The difference in finish, texture and colour is what makes a Lotus wood stove unique. Whether you choose steel, glass, or stone with heat storage option depends on your wishes for design and function. Each of the different materials creates a personal and unique piece of furniture.
The steel used in a Lotus wood-burning stove is cold rolled quality steel. Before the stove is painted, it is “bombarded” with small steel balls. This ensures that the steel is completely clean before being painted. The paint used is a special heat-resistant paint that is able to expand together with the stove.
Soapstone is a mineral that occurs in countries such as Finland, Norway, India, and Brazil. A distinctive feature of this material is the soft, “living” surface. Soapstone is often used in heat storage stoves or as side cladding on traditional wood-burning stoves, as it possesses a fabulous ability to store heat. Like no other material, it is able to store the heat for several hours and release it gradually after the fire has gone out.
Soapstone is a natural material, and because of the natural variation in the stone’s structure and surface, you get your own personal and quite unique stove when you buy a Lotus stove with soapstone.
Sandstone is a sedimentary rock formed over millions of years; the fine-grained and varying structure has arisen by currents and displacements in the earth’s crust, and therefore the structure of the stones can vary a lot. In some cases, it may resemble the veins in wood, and in other cases the veins form completely random patterns and play of colours. It comes in many different light shades and textures created by wind and weather.
Sandstone is used both for heat storage stoves and as a decorative side cladding on traditional stoves. Sandstone is a natural material, and because of the natural variation in the stone’s structure and surface the stones may deviate from photos of the product. This is what makes each stone and each stove unique.
Limestone is an off-white stone, which is naturally built on prehistoric seabed, consisting of a mixture of sand, corals, and 10% chalk. This provides a beautiful stone with a play of shades of grey. Each stone is unique by nature. The variation in structure and surface ensures you a completely unique wood-burning stove and thus a unique piece of furniture.
As the name suggests, Indian Night stones originate from India. The stone is darker and more structured than the traditional soapstone. This provides a surface that is extremely resistant and easy to maintain. It is not only the beautiful glow that is characteristic of this material - the ability to store heat and distribute it slowly is also exceptional due to its high density. This makes Indian Night a beautiful and highly effective material for heat storage.
Indian Night is a natural material, and because of the natural variation in the stone’s structure and surface, each stone and each wood-burning stove has its own unique expression.
Coffee Stone, like sandstone, is a several million years old sedimentary type of rock, whose fine-grained and varying structure has been created through currents and displacements in the earth’s crust.
In some cases, the structure may resemble the veins in wood, and in other cases the veins form completely random patterns and play of colours. It is available in various reddish and brownish shades; hence the name Coffee Stone.
Coffee Stone is a natural material, and because of the natural variation in the stone’s structure and surface, each stone and each wood-burning stove has its own unique expression.
Lotus stoves with “Magic Glass” are outstanding in the field of ceramic glass. “Magic” is the term for the specially developed glass used in our doors for stoves of distinctly modern designs.
The development of the glass is the result of years of close collaboration between Lotus and our subcontractor. The process of producing Magic Glass is extremely time-consuming, and therefore it is only possible to produce a few units a day. Unlike many other manufacturers, we always use double glazing in our “Magic” doors. This means that the heat radiation from the glass is lower and that the temperature in the combustion chamber is increased. This is a part of the Lotus Clean-Burn-Technology, and the result is a completely unique product.
In addition to the many freestanding woodburning stoves, Lotus offers a wide range of fireplace inserts for every taste and with several customization options.
Our inserts are available in many different sizes, heights, and widths as well as with glass on the sides for a better view of the fire. If you want a room divider, our so-called “tunnel stove” is the perfect choice. The possibilities are endless.
All our inserts are also available with the elegant Magic glass, just as we offer a large selection of custom-made frames and adjustable bases to create the perfect installation, either in an existing fireplace or for new constructions. In other words, we guarantee that you will be able to find a Lotus insert that suits your taste, your home, and your needs.
