What Visual Identity Is

isual identity differentiates one company from another and unifies and focuses attention on corporate values. Purposeful design and vigilant management of that identity increases awareness and builds recognition among a company’s audience – both internal and external. A thorough, systematic, and wellarticulated identification program achieves the perfect balance of consistency and flexibility.

Across the board, businesses once based on long-term relationships have become more consumer-driven and productoriented. While these changes have precipitated growth in size and scope for MJLM, these same changes also mean we face stiffer competition. MJLM employs more than 150 professionals and offers a remarkably large array of services. To establish and support our efforts toward marketplace differentiation, client retention, and recruitment, MJLM needs to project a consistent corporate identity which communicates our message across a variety of media.

A strong visual language emphasizing consistent messaging and flexibility of use has been developed. The visual style is simple and professional. The expansive program includes: • corporate identity (logo design, typeface, color); • corporate stationery

(letterhead, business cards, envelopes); and, • corporate collateral (brochures, product sheets, websites, report covers, forms) Consistent Messaging One of the greatest challenges for any midsize to large company is an identification program that will be implemented by any number of departments, in multiple locations, and by several vendors.

Regardless of what an approved set of style guidelines may require, people will customize presentations, report covers, and corporate t-shirts and coffee cups.

We understand this penchant for customization and designed with it in mind. We have developed a program that offers consistency and flexibility through the use of detailed templates with built-in ways to adapt the design to accommodate content. Accounting for the way people really use the system’s components ensures the company’s core values are always communicated consistently – even when an employee prefers MJLM Blue over MJLM Grey.

This styleguide is designed to provide answers to your questions about logos, color, typography and more. The identity standards detailed in this manual include standards for use with all media, including publications, advertising and Web and collateral materials — plus templates designed to reflect the company’s core message.

Our visual identity connects MJLM’s notable past with our vision for the future. Please keep it handy and apply these standards consistently.
