The Fair Board’s Santa Fund

The Southeast Weld County Junior Fair and Rodeo reflect an amazing community that has been supporting its kids and each other for over 100 years. The fair provides a great opportunity for our RE-3J students to showcase their hard work on projects in 4-H and FFA and gives them an opportunity to market their livestock projects in the sale. In 2005, Fair Board members, Scott and Brenda Garcia, realized there were children and families in our community who were less fortunate and/or unable to take advantage of this specific opportunity. The Garcias brought the Fair Board the idea of starting a fund to raise support and give a little help at Christmas time and throughout the year to families in our community who are less fortunate. With the Fair Board’s approval, the Garcias began organizing Santa’s Hard Luck Fund.

Although the name has changed to the Fair Board’s Santa Fund, our mission to help others in our community remains the same. Since its inception, hundreds of children and their families have benefited from the generosity of our community.

At fair, the Fair Board’s Santa Fund is supported by a silent auction along with the sale of a few larger items auctioned in the sale ring during the Junior Livestock Sale. Most of the funds are used to purchase gift cards at Christmas for RE3J families in need. These families are nominated by the schools. The Fair Board realizes hard times don’t just happen during the holidays, so it stands to support those in need throughout the year!

The Southeast Weld County Fair Board believes we are blessed to be a blessing. If you would like to donate to the Fair Board’s Santa Fund and serve those in our community, please stop by the High Plains Bank in Keenesburg and donate.

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

FAITH, FAMILY & FREEDOM ON THE FAIRGROUNDS

As we begin another year at the Southeast Weld County Fair, we celebrate the traditions that bring our community together—none more so than our local fair. For 104 years, the Southeast Weld County Fair has reflected our core values: faith, family and freedom. While the fair has grown, our commitment to supporting one another remains unchanged. Whether attending the Junior Livestock Auction, contributing to a favorite livestock or home ec project, or supporting the Santa Fund or scholarship applicants, our community consistently invests in our youth.

This year, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, Colorado’s 150th anniversary, our 104th fair and 20 years at our current fairgrounds. These milestones remind us of our history and the dedication that has kept this tradition alive for generations. In the past twenty years at this location, our fairgrounds have become more than just buildings and arenas. They are a place where memories are made, friendships grow and generations gather each year. Every year, you can see the values of faith, family and freedom throughout these fairgrounds. You see faith in neighbors caring for one another, generosity and shared values that guide us. Family is at the heart of fair week, with generations working together and passing down traditions.

The fairgrounds are where parents, who once showed animals as kids, now watch their own children do the same. Freedom is seen in our agricultural lifestyle and in young people learning and growing through hard work. Our community spirit and these values make the fair special. Many families carry memories from the fairgrounds: early mornings, long evenings, nervous show-ring walks, first ribbons, auction handshakes and friendships that last beyond fair week.

For young people, the fair builds confidence and responsibility; for families, it is where traditions are passed down. Our 4-H and FFA members showcase the future of agriculture through projects that require dedication and instill pride. Supporting our youth is a key strength of the fair, as our community invests in the next generation. Volunteers and neighbors work

together throughout fair week, embodying our longstanding community spirit.

As Fair President, I want to personally thank our volunteers, board members, exhibitors, sponsors and community members, both past and present, who make this event possible. Whether they help in the barns, repair panels, clean the grounds, support the auction, or join in one of my “what if we tried this” ideas, their willingness to help never goes unnoticed. This fair would not exist without the people who give their time, energy and heart to it year after year. The Southeast Weld County Fair is something our community can be proud of, not just for the events, but for what the fair stands for: hard work, tradition, service and people coming together to support one another.

As we celebrate another year, I encourage everyone to join in all the fair has to offer. Support the kids, attend the shows, enjoy the rodeos, visit the exhibits, and spend time with friends and family. Most importantly, take a moment to appreciate the people around you and the community that makes all of this possible. Join us at the Southeast Weld County Fair this year. Bring your friends, celebrate our traditions and help us make this fair the most memorable one yet.

Fair Royalty Rules

The SEWC Royalty are ambassadors of goodwill for the community and youth of the Southeast Weld area. Their purpose is to promote the Southeast Weld County Fair & Rodeo (SEWCF).

Judging: Sunday, August 2nd, 5:00pm

Location: Main Building

Lady-in-Waiting Contest Guidelines/Contestant Eligibility:

1. Young ladies who have turned at least 15 by current fair date and not exceeded their 19th birthday.

2. Contestants must be single, never married, without child and not planning to marry prior to the conclusion of their royalty reign.

3. Contestants must live in the RE-3J school district or physically attend a RE-3J school.

4. Royalty must be willing to make a reasonable number of appearances representing the SEWCF.

5. Any questions which may arise about a contestant’s eligibility should be addressed to the Queen Coordinator and/or SEWC Fair Board.

6. In the event the Queen or Lady-in-Waiting does not fulfill her duties, she will reimburse the Southeast Weld Fair Board for any prizes won or expenses incurred in that capacity.

7. The Queen or Lady-in-Waiting must not serve/represent any other associations in any royalty capacity during her reign for the SEWCF.

Contest Judging:

A panel of judges will score contestants in the following areas:

1. Personal interview

2. Prepared speech

3. Impromptu questions

4. Written test on fair and rodeo knowledge

5. Horsemanship knowledge and riding skills

Term to be Served:

The reign of the Queen and Lady-in-Waiting will be from August of the contest year to August of the following year. At the time of the contest, the contestant with the highest score will be named Lady-in-Waiting and continue in that position for one year. The current Lady-in-Waiting will take over the responsibilities of Queen at the end of her term and continue as Southeast Weld County Queen for one year.

My name is Anastyn Perez, and I am honored to serve as the 2025–2026 Southeast Weld County Queen. I am currently a junior at Weld Central High School and also attend classes at Aims Community College. After graduating high school, I plan to attend a university to pursue a degree in business while continuing to compete in collegiate horse judging.

I am very involved in both 4-H and FFA, where I show horses and goats, compete in a variety of events, and serve as both a Weld Central and district officer. Through these experiences over the past year, I have had the opportunity to meet incredible people and build meaningful connections that have made a lasting impact on my life. As Southeast Weld County Queen, I am proud to represent agriculture, the western way of life, and the youth programs that have shaped who I am today.

I am truly grateful for the community I have the privilege to serve and for the unwavering support from those around me. I am also extremely thankful for my family, who support me in everything I do.

Addy Cook

Hi, I’m Adalyn Cook. I am the SEWCF 2025-2026 Lady-in-Waiting. I am 16 years old and a sophomore at Weld Central High School. I was born and raised in Keenesburg, Colorado and my parents are Doug and Jennifer Cook.

In my free time, I love hanging out with my friends, playing competitive volleyball, going to the lake with family and friends, and competing in gymkhanas.

I really appreciate our small town of Keenesburg! There is a lot of love and support from everyone with all things involving the youth! I’m excited to be Queen and encourage all the little cowgirls to follow their dreams and one day they can wear the crown and represent our amazing little town!

Grand Marshals

Stan and Judy Roskop are honored to serve as Grand Marshals of the Southeast Weld County Junior Fair and Rodeo; a place that isn’t just part of their story, but part of their family’s legacy and the community they’ve loved for a lifetime.

Stan grew up south of Hudson on the family farm, attending Hudson Elementary School, where he learned early the value of hard work and responsibility. Judy moved to Hudson in the third grade from the northern suburbs of Denver, and it didn’t take long for this small town to become home. Both graduated from Weld Central High School and Stan went on to attend NJC. High school sweethearts, Stan and Judy have spent the last 49 years building a life together grounded in faith, family and a deep-rooted work ethic.

They are the proud parents of two daughters, Lacie and Shelby, who were raised in the barns, arenas and show rings of the fair. Both were deeply involved in 4-H and proudly carried on the family tradition as Fair Queens creating memories that would shape not only their childhoods, but the generations that followed.

Judy’s love for animals, especially horses, has been a lifelong passion. From years of showing and earning national recognition to mentoring young exhibitors, she has poured her heart into the next generation. Today, that love lives on through their granddaughters, Kinley and Allie, who continue to walk those same paths, carrying forward the values and traditions that mean so much to their family.

Stan was raised by his father, George Roskop, to work hard, respect the land and always give back to his community. And that’s exactly what he’s done. From owning and operating Tonville HVAC to supporting 4-H, FFA, local athletics, and serving for many years with the SEWC Fire Protection District, Stan has always believed in showing up for the people and places that matter most.

His commitment to the fair runs especially deep. Stan served on the Fair Board for 14 years, including as Board President during the transition to the new fairgrounds 20 years ago. He remembers that time not for how hard it was, but for what it meant. Neighbors became family, long days turned into lifelong friendships, and a community came together to build something bigger than themselves. It’s something he believes can never truly be

replicated. As he often said with a smile, “Judy was a fair board widow during that time”. Stan also started the arena banner program so that local community members could show their support during the fair and rodeo. This has become a great way to help fund the rodeo events during fair.

One of the most meaningful chapters of that journey came years later, when Stan had the opportunity to serve on the Fair Board alongside his son-in-law, Trevor Schreibvogel. What started as service became something even more special full-circle moment, side by side, working toward the same purpose, carrying on the same values. It wasn’t just about the fair it was about legacy, family and passing something meaningful down to the next generation.

Stan credits everything to the unwavering support of Judy, their daughters Lacie and Shelby and their granddaughters Kinley and Allie, the reason behind it all.

Together, Stan and Judy Roskop represent the heart of small-town life where hard work, family and community are everything. Their story is woven into the Southeast Weld County Junior Fair and Rodeo, and their legacy will live on in every barn, every arena, and every young exhibitor who walks through those gates for years to come.

General Rules & Regulations

All rules pertaining to the Southeast Weld County Fair and its activities are subject to final interpretation and enforcement by the Southeast Weld County Fair Board or its designated representatives. Check the website for any updates and changes. www. southeastweldcountyfairgrounds.com

ALL JUDGES’ DECISIONS ARE FINAL.

GENERAL RULES

SEWCF REGISTRATION

• All entries are to be submitted online through the approved online portal. Registration will run from July 5-July 25. The link for registration is found on the fair’s website.

• Any entry after July 25 will be considered a late entry and MUST be completed through the fair office prior to July 31 at midnight. Late entries will be assessed a $20/class fee payable in cash or check to SEWCF on the day of check-in. Email registration_SEWCF@outlook.com to begin the late registration process.

• NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER JULY 31

• Refer to the schedule for information about check-in times and shows.

RESPONSIBILITY – The management will use all care to ensure safety for exhibits after their arrival, but in no case will they be responsible for any loss or damage done to, or arising from, any animal or article on exhibit. The exhibitors shall indemnify fair management against all legal or other proceedings in regard thereto. Every animal or article shall be entered and exhibited in the name of the bona fide owner.

ELIGIBILITY – Exhibitors must be bona fide members in good standing of a Colorado 4-H Club or Vocational Agricultural Program.

• Members who are 8 years of age and have not reached their 19th birthday prior to January 1st of the current year are eligible to compete.

• A member considered to be in good standing must pay state dues, attend most of the club meetings, complete at least one project taken during the club year, present a demonstration to the club, participate in club-sponsored events and perform community service. A current and up-to-date record book is required and must be presented when entering all projects, except for livestock.

• All livestock exhibitors must complete interview judging in their county prior to the fair.

• SEWCF follows Weld County guidelines for eligibility.

PROTESTS – All protests must be made in writing and presented to the superintendent in charge of the respective division. All protests must be made within 2 hours after the event occurred and must be accompanied by a $100 deposit before any action is taken by the SEWCF Board. The deposit will be forfeited if the protest is not sustained.

PREMIUMS – No animal or article deemed unworthy will be awarded a premium. The award of premiums will be limited to entries named in the premium list. When there is no competition between exhibitors, only one ribbon and premium can be awarded at the discretion of the judge. All judges’ decisions are final.

Any exhibits arriving before or leaving without permission from their respective superintendent will forfeit their prize money. All exhibitor meetings are MANDATORY.

LIVESTOCK

SHOW AND SALE ELIGIBILITY

• The SEWC Livestock Sale is a terminal sale.

• Animals eligible for the livestock shows and sale must be owned by a 4-H or FFA member residing in or physically attending, in person, the RE-3J school district. Proof of residency or enrollment may be required by the Fair Board before registration is accepted.

• Beginning in 2026, studentswho reside outside the district boundaries and attend the RE-3J online schoolwill NOTbe eligible forthe market showorsale.

• All exhibitors must live in the school district or physically attend RE-3J schools from tag-in and/or weigh-in date until the day of fair to be eligible for the sale.

LIVESTOCK ENTRIES

• Exhibitors may nominate and tag a total of 5 market animals per species. All 5 animals may be entered online. Only 3 may be weighed in on the day of the show.

• All market animals must be weighed in to show.

• No reweighs.

• All animals are subject to inspection by a veterinarian at weigh-in.

• All animals must be housed in their designated areas.

• Nolivestock,excludinghorses,willbepermittedtoreturntostocktrailers,trucksor parking areas following check-in.

• Bedding will not be provided by the Fair Association.

• Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning their livestock pens. A $100 fine will be assessed for unclean pens at checkout.

EXHIBITING

• Animals must be shown by the exhibitor. If the exhibitor has a show conflict, another SEWC 4-H or FFA member may show the animal(s) with superintendent approval.

• Failure to appear when a class is called will not justify a class recall. All judges’ decisions are final.

FITTING OF ANIMALS

• All livestock exhibitors will groom and fit their own livestock projects or be helped by a current 4-H or FFA member or immediate family member, if needed.

GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION

• Any animal can be tested at the Fair Board’s discretion.

• The Fair Board’s decision on all disqualifications is final.

• The following are grounds for exhibitor disqualification:

• Use of tranquilizers in any livestock being exhibited. Any prize money won by an animal will be withheld if it is found to show the effects of tranquilization or alteration while at the Fair.

• Use of artificial stimulants administered on the fairgrounds without a veterinarian present.

• Unethical livestock practices to enhance the appearance of any species. Oral drenching will be allowed only with handheld drench guns, no larger than 300cc. The use of stomach pumps is prohibited. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification with no recourse.

• Unruly animals that could cause harm to individuals or other animals at the fair. The Fair Board reserves the right to disqualify any unruly animal.

MARKET LIVESTOCK SALE

• Only one animal per exhibitor may be sold.

• All Grand and Reserve Champions must sell unless one of the following exceptions occurs:

• In the event one exhibitor is awarded Grand Champion in more than one market species, that exhibitor shall be required to select which species s/he will sell.

• If a single exhibitor is awarded a Grand Champion and Reserve Champion within the same market class or across all market classes, the Grand Champion animal is required to sell.

• Should an exhibitor be awarded a Reserve Champion in more than one market species, that exhibitor shall be required to select which species s/he will sell.

• Animals must be shown in the sale ring by the exhibitor. If the exhibitor has a sale day conflict, another SEWC 4-H or FFA member may show the animal with superintendent approval.

• It is against federal regulation to sell an animal for slaughter before the approved withdrawal period for a drug.

• To be eligible to participate in the livestock sale, the exhibitor must have completed the market project in the species that the exhibitor sold the previous year. Sellers must provide proof of successful completion of the Meat Quality Assurance program and attend a livestock record book interview through the CSU Extension Office.

• Sellers must have a premise identification number.

• Each animal exhibited in a market class receives a SEWC Sale Nomination Card. To nominate an animal for the sale, a completed Sale Nomination Card must be turned into the FAIR OFFICE within one (1) hour following the end of the livestock show of specified species.

• Only one Sale Nomination Card may be turned in per exhibitor, including multi-species exhibitors.

• Multi-species exhibitors will be permitted to exchange a previously submitted Sale Nomination Card with a different species nomination card during the one (1) hour nomination period for the species they want to be substituted. The replacement nomination card must be marked “substitution”. The originally submitted Sale Nomination Card will be removed.

• No Sale Nomination Cards will be accepted following the one-hour nomination period for that species.

• Sale eligibility will be determined after the show and exhibitors have declared which animal they intend to sell.

• Animals will be sifted on a percentage basis by class within each species.

• Any questions need to be addressed to the respective species superintendents.

• Selling in the livestock sale is a privilege. Any violations of these rules will eliminate the exhibitor from the sale for a minimum of one year.

• The livestock sale is limited to the following number of animals of each species: Beef –23, Goats – 11, Lambs – 23, Hogs – 23, Poultry – 1

Entries:

• The building will be closed during judging.

• Judging will be by the Danish System following Weld County rules.

• The award presentations will be at 4:00 p.m. on Friday in the Main Building for Home Economics and General Projects, including Crops, Vegetables, Poultry and Restoration.

• Projects will be released from 2:00pm – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. If you cannot pick up your project at the assigned time, arrange to have someone do it for you.

• Open to anyone age 10 and up. There will be a Junior Division for ages 10-12, an Intermediate Division for ages 13-15 and a Senior Division for ages 16-18.

• Contestants will be disqualified for failure to observe any safety precautions.

• Time starts at the signal from the contest supervisor. The operator will release the brakes and drive the tractor through the course.

• Timing ends when the supervisor signals that the tractor is back at the starting point and is properly parked. Failure to set the brakes at the end of the route will penalize the operator.

• All animals are property of the buyer immediately after the purchase.
