It is a moment in the year when the ranch’s heritage and the natural world meet in a way that feels both familiar and freshly defined.

We also share an early glimpse into The Story of Lost Creek Ranch, highlight some notable moments from Western Art Week, and close with everyones favorite cinnamon rolls from the weekly breakfast cookout - sure to save you from a wintry chill. A New Chapter in Cabin Comfort A milestone in Lost Creek Ranch’s nearly 100year history was the renovation of our guest cabins. The revitalized spaces feature redesigned bathrooms with heated floors, Waterworks fixtures, LaBottega robes, and Grown Alchemist in-room amenities—creating a spa-like retreat after a long day in the saddle. From hand-selected furnishings to curated artwork, every detail honors the ranch’s storied past while offering elevated comfort. Perhaps the most rewarding part was watching decadelong guests step into their favorite spaces, thoughtfully reimagined.

Colt Starting Clinic
In 2025, Lost Creek Ranch proudly brought our longtime fishing permit in-house, expanding fly fishing opportunities for guests of all experience levels. From drift boat trips on the Snake River to family-friendly wade fishing, casting lessons in the Wedding Pasture, and evenings of bourbon tasting and fly tying in the lodge saloon, we curated experiences for both seasoned anglers and first-time fishers alike. Fly fishing will continue to be offered as an optional add-on to your week at the ranch. With the Snake River designated a National Wild and Scenic River, time on the water is as memorable as it is beautiful. To match the setting, we’ve elevated the experience with premium gear—think Simms waders and Orvis Helios rods—because your time on the river should feel anything but ordinary.
We raised a glass to expanded culinary experiences under the Tetons—from the new horse-trailer bar to sunset dining in the wedding pasture during our specialty chef week.
One of the standout moments of 2025 was the ranch feature in the October issue of Western Horseman magazine. The feature spotlighted our June colt starting demonstration with 35 Select Stock, where guests watched eight young horses take their very first start under saddle in the ranch arena — a meaningful beginning to each horse’s future path. We are humbled by the recognition and proud to continue celebrating the heritage of horsemanship at the ranch. Plans are already underway for next year’s Colt Starting Clinic with 35 Select Stock, set for June 14–20, 2026.
We recently returned from a family trip at Lost Creek Ranch and truly do not have enough wonderful things to say about it! The location was stunning and conveniently approx. 30 minutes from the airport and downtown Jackson Hole. The newly updated cabins we beautiful and comfortable. The meals were delicious and Charlie, Harrison, Sasha and the other dining staff/chefs provided wonderful, personalized service. We had a few birthdays during the trip and the pastry chef made the most stunning delicious birthday cakes for our group. My kids adored kids camp and the fun, caring, intentional and protective staff- Evany and Sam. All activities ran smoothly and were a blast including hikes, rides, river floats, the rodeo, plein air painting, skeet shooting, archery, etc. The evening activities were fun and across the board and the staff was amazing. Jasmin, the General Manager, was a huge help in all planning for the trip (where 13 of us traveled). Cannot recommend Lost Creek Ranch enough!
This place is a slice of heaven. The rooms are newly renovated. The staff was incredible! No ask was too big...my sister in law had food poisoning from before we landed. They made her homemade broth and drove an hour to pick up her antibiotics ! The food was amazing. The wranglers were fun and helpful. Beautiful scenery, great company, many activities, and family friendly. We will be back! This will be an annual family trip for sure!
The ranch is the jewel in the area. The setting is stunning. Service and amenities are definitely upper tier for a dude ranch. Their staff members are all rockstars in their field who are eager to give you the time of your life while making it all seem effortless. They love their job which makes it easy for the guests to relax into indulging the comfortable lodging, delicious food (catered to dietary preferences) and fun activities. My family is vegan and the kitchen prepared creative dishes for us at every meal time. We liked the variety of trail rides customized to each family members riding ability, and enjoyed the private river float with truly exceptional guides. We do recommend a car to explore hikes or sights around the area and venture into Yellowstone. And yes, the weather can be somewhat unpredictable - we got rained, hailed and snowed on in July... - and mosquitoes are plentiful. Just remember you are in the natural habitat of all sorts of wildlife.

The Story of Lost Creek Ranch The Story of Lost Creek Ranch is a forthcoming volume that brings together archival photographs, original government records, and long-form research to document the evolution of the ranch and the land it occupies. The book will be available for purchase in the new year and represents the most complete record of the ranch assembled to date. The book places Lost Creek Ranch within the broader history of Jackson Hole, documenting the transition from open range to early tourism and the individuals whose stewardship shaped the land across generations.
Cinnamon Rolls This season invites us to slow down and gather together. Long winter nights have a way of warming hearts— especially when spent sharing a meal with the people we love. And there's no better example than a morning spent around the breakfast table: college students home on break, grandparents in from out of town, little ones still in their pajamas. Our pastry chef, Kia's cinnamon rolls have been a guest favorite for three years running—and for good reason. These 1st place Teton County Fair winners are the perfect way to make any winter morning feel special.
Ingredients 1 c Warm Water
3.5 c Flour
1¼ tsp Yeast
2 tbsp Butter
1/2 tsp Sugar
2 tbsp Brown Sugar
2 tbsp Honey
1½ tsp Cinnamon
2 tbsp Canola Oil
¼ c Cream
1½ tsp Salt
Directions 1. Pour Warm Water over yeast, let activate for 5-10 min 2. Stir in Sugar, Honey, Salt and Oil 3. Transfer to a stand mixer and slowly mix in flour 4. Let rise in an oiled and covered metal bowl 5. Punch down and roll into a rectangle that is ½” thick 6. Brush with Melted Butter, Sprinkle with Brown Sugar and Cinnamon 7. Roll up the dough and cut out 2” slices placed in a greased pan -cover to let rest for minimum 20 min 8. Sprinkle with Brown Sugar and Cinnamon, pour cream over the top 9. Bake at 350* for 20-25 min
Winter Solitude After my fourth season managing Lost Creek Ranch, I always find myself reflecting on the summer’s highlights and the continued care and improvements made to preserve this truly historic place by the ranch owners, the Gottwald Family. It is their deep love for the ranch that inspires so many of us— myself included—to return year after year, eager to curate another unforgettable summer in the Tetons. Looking ahead to 2026, I’m excited to share even more of what makes Lost Creek Ranch so special: stories from the ranch’s rich history (brought to life through our recent book), favorite recipes from the ranch kitchen, staff spotlights, returning and new live musicians, specialty weeks, and much more. A heartfelt thank you to every guest we were fortunate to host this past season, and to those we look forward to welcoming in 2026. Our journey here is rooted in keeping the spirit of this Western lifestyle alive—and without you, we simply couldn’t do what we do. Thank you, and may the season ahead be filled with joy, laughter, and meaningful time spent with the ones you love.
