It’s been a bit of a whirlwind! Leading the Annual General Meeting and being selected by the Board to be the President. Now the real work begins.

I am looking forward to working with the talented people on our Board so that we, as a Board, can meet our responsibilities to the members and continue improving our Club.

The primary responsibilities of the Board are as follows: (1) (2) (3)

Establishing and maintaining policies regarding the conduct of the Board and of the members of the Club. Supervising and assessing the General Manager’s performance in managing the dayto-day operations of the Club. Protecting, planning for and investing in the Club of the future.

We have made significant investments in and improvements to our facilities, the benefits of which are clearly reflected in the growth of our membership and the enhancement of the Club’s image in the marketplace. We continue to get inquiries and applications to join our Club and expect this to continue.

The bar has been set high but the Board, Club Management and our Staff are all working to continue to raise the standards.

Personally, I am excited to have a role to play in the future of the Lost City Golf Club.

Don Greenhalgh, President

WGA NEWS Interclub Congratulations to our Lost City Ladies Interclub team sponsored by the club and our WGA. The Florida State Golf Association Women’s Interclub Matches are a new state-wide team competition between golf clubs throughout the state. Captains Martha Greenhalgh and Mary Lou Neagle put together a team of 20 women to play in the event during this inaugural year. Our division included Delray Dunes, Quail Ridge and Seagate Country Club. Each club hosted 3 Four-Ball matches and also traveled to each of the other clubs to play matches. Nassau scoring allowed for 2 points to each team winning the front nine, another 2 points for the back nine, and 2 points for the overall win. We played for 6 weeks starting in January and February. By February 8, Lost City was tied with Seagate. Lost City went to Seagate for the final match on Feb 9th ---and won by all 12 points – while playing in the rain! – to win our division. Playoffs will begin the last week of February, so please wish us well. Congratulations to Martha and Mary Lou for organizing, scheduling and encouraging us. And a big thank you to all of the women participants from Lost City: Marcy Albright, Glenie Austin, Pat Cmarik, Edie Craddock, Cindy Crawford, Stevie Davenport, Gina Devine, Jeannine Dowley, Laura Feick, Lynda Forbes, Barb Golding, Martha Greenhalgh, Jen Kelley, Debbie Kingsley, MaryLou Neagle, Jane Pasquale, Carol Patmore, Claire Rose, Sharon Sands and Karen Vaughan.

Dear Lost City Golf Club Members, In today’s business world these questions are frequently asked: “ What’s the purpose of your business?” or “Why are you in business?” or “What’s your why?” As I write this month’s article we are in the middle of our Member-Guest Week where Lost City Golf Club’s purpose was in full bloom. We were full of family members and friends from near and far enjoying laughs and good times together over golf, food and drink. Brothers, sisters, sons, fathers, mothers, daughters, aunts, uncles, cousins and best friends sharing the great game of golf! Playing and practicing at our wonderful club and enjoying the fresh air and tropical scenery! Some played well and some better luck next year but all were smiling and happy. Our Womens’ and Mens’ Member-Guest committee members did a fine job implementing their vision for the week and working with staff to bring their vision to fruition. Our department heads and frontline staff were well prepared and executed at a high level in all areas based on the reports from our members and their guests. I could go on and on but suffice it to say that this week displayed what golf and the Lost City Golf Club are all about. The Dennis Walters Golf Exhibition was a very special addition to our Member-Guest week this year. An extremely talented golfer, he stated his philosophy loud and clear. “We all can overcome major obstacles and accomplish great things…..if we are willing to put in the time and effort.” To say he was inspirational is an understatement. And we all enjoyed a lot of laughs while receiving his thoughtful and positive message. Great Job Lost City Golf Club!! Leo McMahon General Manager Lost City Golf Club

Our soils reports have come back showing very low fertility levels, something that is certainly noticeable while playing the courses. Each course will receive a different blend of products to allow us to gauge the plant's reaction (health/color) and compare notes as to which program will work best for the Lost City golf courses moving forward. Mole cricket applications have already been made and will continue to be a top priority in monitoring and re-applying products as needed. Over the past 4 weeks, I’ve witnessed many non-handicap golf carts being parked on our approaches and too close to our greens. I encourage you to please keep cart traffic away from these areas as much as possible; it is an added stress to a young turfgrass plant that is weak and lean from lack of fertility and the previous cooler winter temps. We will be implementing a system to help identify where golf carts should be exiting fairways to help relieve stress in rough areas as well. Our focus right now is plant health and recovery through the remainder of the season and heading into the Summer months. Thank you all for your continued support. We are looking forward to finishing this season strong! Taylor

February Recap In February, we had many fun and competitive events that were kicked off by 2022 Can-Am! The American team started out playing very good golf in both the Men’s and Ladies Can-Am and both teams had a good lead after Day 1. The Canadian Team turned it around on Day 2 and came out firing on all cylinders. At the end of the day, the American Team was able to barely win both the Men’s and Ladies Can-Am. It was a great couple of days of golf that showed the awesome comradery between the membership at Lost City.

Dear Lost City Golf Club Members, On Friday 2/25/22 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new guidelines on when people should wear a mask or not, based on their county’s COVID19 risk level. South Florida: Under the new guidelines, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties have a medium COVID risk level, which means masks are optional indoors, though the CDC is still recommending people with high-risk conditions speak with their doctor on whether they should wear a mask. The Club will be following the new CDC guidelines established for Palm Beach County. Reminders: • Stay home if you do not feel well. • If you test positive for Covid-19 you must not come to the Club for 5 days. Sincerely, Leo McMahon General Manager Lost City Golf Club
