Lost Bear Gallery welcomes you to a winter exhibition of oil paintings by Herman Pekel. The Melbourne-based artist once again demonstrates his practice and skill in this concise collection, including natural and urban landscapes.
Written statements and elaborate words can at times overcomplicate art. The art of Herman Pekel is accessible; a language based on sound draughtsmanship, a technique developed over decades, and a visual interpretation of his chosen subject.
Several works in this exhibition feature the chill and quietness of the bush, while others glow in the warmth of a setting sun. These natural landscapes sit comfortably alongside illuminated interiors and street scenes; testimony to Pekel’s prowess and versatility.
