Lutherans Outdoors in South Dakota provides camping and retreating programs for people of all ages and all abilities.

Lutherans Outdoors is a ministry of the congregations of the South Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Wyoming Conference of the Rocky Mountain Synod, and is open to people of all denominations of faith.

Youth Camps YOUTH CAMP | GRADES 3-8 June 12-17, June 19-24, and July 24-29 Hike and canoe, ride horse, worship around a campfire, grow in faith during Bible study, meet camp counselors and friends, play lots of fun games, and experience many more camp activities.

ADVENTURES | GRADES 7-12 June 12-17, June 19-24, July 3-8, July 10-15, July 17-22, July 24-29, and July 31-August 5 This small-group adventure experience includes full-day or part-day adventures such as hiking or overnight backpacking, biking on the Mickelson Trail, lake and creek kayaking, caving, service projects, and the low ropes challenge course and trail ride.

Servant Camp SERVANT CAMP IN THE BLACK HILLS | GRADES 8-12 July 3-8, July 10-15, July 17-22, July 24-29, and July 31-August 5 Join Outlaw Ranch for a week of Servant Camp in the beautiful Black Hills. This is a custom-designed week of Christian service for Senior High Youth, with the option of adding a day of Adventure programming. Let us help you craft a valuable and memorable experience for your youth group.

Leadership Camp PEER MINISTRY CAMP | GRADES 9-12 June 12-17 Peer ministry is an intentional way of training youth on how to respond to friends who are suffering. This week of camp includes face-to-face, learn-by-doing, skill-by-skill experiences -- no lectures, powerpoint presentations or white boards needed. You will learn Peer Ministry Leadership skills by entering the life and faith experiences of everyone in the room.

Skills learned will include: Listening, Questioning, Non-verbal Communication, Welcoming A Stranger, Values and Decision Making.

Youth Camps EXPLORERS | GRADES 3-6 August 10-12 This intro into camp is a great way to spend a few days enjoying all that camp has to offer including sleeping in cabins, tie-dying, swimming at the beach, enjoying great camp food, and growing in faith through Bible study and worship.

ELEMENTARY YOUTH CAMP | GRADES 3-6

July 10-15 (All Grades) July 17-22 (Grades 5-6) and July 24-29 (All Grades) Enjoy a week of Bible camp that includes worship, Bible study, games, crafts, and great camp food. Campers will experience small-group, community living while spending many of their waking hours in-and-on the lake.

MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH CAMP | GRADES 7-8 July 17-22 Bible study, swimming, crafts, games, worship, and an overnight camp out at Pickerel Lake State Park are all on the list for this Jr High experience. Campers will also find their week filled with fun water activities involving kayaks and Stand-UpPaddleboards!

Inter-generational Camp 1-2-3 CAMP | GRADES 1-3 AND AN ADULT July 6-8 and August 7-9 This is an introductory camp experience for kids and parents, grandparents, or guardians. Enjoying a fast-moving half week experience together. Counselor-led Bible studies for the children and pastor-led Bible study for the adults!

Specialty Camps CONFIRMATION CAMP | GRADES 5-10 June 12-17, June 26-July 1, and July 31-August 5 This camp is for congregations seeking a memorable experience for their Confirmation students. The week provides a classic Bible camp experience while setting aside time each day for pastors and youth leaders to lead their group in time together.

MUSIC CAMP | GRADES 5-9 July 31-August 5 Music Camp provides campers an opportunity to share their musical talents and abilities. In one week, campers will learn lines, design a set, practice, and perform a musical on Friday night for family and friends. Bring your instruments!

FISHING CAMP | GRADES 3-8 June 12-17 Lake Enemy Swim is full of fish waiting to be caught! Enjoying fishing from boats and our beautiful shoreline while learning new skills! During this week at camp they will enjoy their time not only fishing, but growing in community with new friends and Christ!

Youth Camp YOUTH CAMP | GRADES 6-8 June 12-17, June 19-24, June 26-July 1, July 10-15, July 17-22 and July 24-29 Located on a western horse ranch, Klein Ranch emphasizes horsemanship, small group living, natural and historic awareness, and teamwork. Campers will have the opportunity to grow in their faith with their counselors, while also making new friends, exploring the country on horseback, hiking the mini-badlands, and learning to take care of the animals.

Campers will also get to expand their faith and build community by attending worship at a Native American church.

Additional activities include camping out under the stars, water games at the Grand River and visits with neighboring ranchers.

Leadership Camp COUNSELOR OR WRANGLER-IN-TRAINING | GRADES 10-12 July 10-15 or July 17-22 Experience a new side of camp! For those who have interest in becoming a Wrangler or Counselor at Klein Ranch, this program gives you a chance to shadow and train with staff, assisting with all aspects of leadership with campers and horses.

Register once for mandatory training, then you can pick one or two additional weeks to work with the staff. Please contact info@losd.org to set up your additional weeks after registering.
