Reconciliation Vision Statement

Here at Loreto Coorparoo, we aspire to empower and motivate students to be just, compassionate agents for reconciliation who can confidently work together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people both during and beyond their time at Loreto

We are proud and humbled to be on Meanjin land. We celebrate the rich and diverse cultures of the Turrbal and Yuggera peoples and recognise the uniqueness of each individual’s story. We are empowered to act for reconciliation by learning and gaining knowledge firsthand from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of this land.

As a community guided by the values of Mary Ward and our Catholic faith, we are committed to listening to and working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people towards improving their lives and life chances. We are committed to a shared future through engaging our heads, hearts, hands and feet focusing on acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God (Micah 6:8)

In the spirit of Verity, we strive to understand our purpose by being open to learning, seeking the truth, and acknowledging past injustices

We enact Justice, working towards closing the gap because we value equality and the dignity of all people

In Freedom each of us is called to grow in our capacity to act with love and compassion to work in partnership with and support the self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We embrace our path to reconciliation with Felicity, with a sense of optimism, positivity and hope for the future.

As a community, we actively seek to understand our shared history and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage with respect, authenticity, and Sincerity.

Reconciliation is everyone’s business.
