In writing my final Chronicle article as Principal, my heart is filled with gratitude. How fortunate am I to have experienced something so special that saying goodbye is so hard. However, I know this is not really goodbye, for I will always be a part of Loreto which has been my spiritual home for over 40 years.

It has been my privilege and my pleasure to have worked in girls’ education for the past 35 years and to spend 24 of these years working in three Loreto schools and serving as a Principal in two of them. There is certainly no exaggeration when I say that the spiritual and educational influence of Mary Ward in my life has been profound.

Looking back to my commencement at Loreto, as a Year 9 student in 1975, I could never have imagined the journey that was to unfold.

I have been blessed with good health, good friends, wonderful colleagues, a loving husband and family and many angels, whom I’ve sadly lost along the way, watching over me.

I wish especially to acknowledge and thank the Loreto Sisters for their belief and trust in me, their gentle encouragement, their grace and their wisdom. I have been

blessed to have had them as my teachers, mentors and friends. I owe them so much.

When you belong to a school you belong to a community; this is what I shall miss the most. I wish to thank each and every one of you who has given to this community.

Whether as a student; teacher; staff member; leader; parent; past pupil; committee member; volunteer or friend of Loreto, when you give of your time, your gifts, your energy, your love and yourselves, you build community and that giving is multiplied one hundred fold. Your gifts empower and enrich. Thank you.

My decision to retire as a Principal has been made for a multitude of reasons but primarily because the time simply felt right. Learning of Kim Wickham’s appointment has only confirmed for me that the time is right. I believe that Kim is an excellent appointment and that this school will flourish under her leadership. I wish her and the community every blessing.

Next year will be for me a year to stop and simply be. I shall enjoy the stillness and the quiet. It will be a year where my plan is to have no plans.

I will simply wait, in faith and hope, for wherever the Spirit might carry me next.

Mrs Hamilton, the journey from apprehensive, new Year 9 student to retiring Principal of Loreto Coorparoo has been an amazing one – perhaps there is a Year 9 student at Coorparoo today who will follow a similar path and one day become Principal of this school!

TIMOR LESTE IMMERSION MRS ANDREIA WIGAN Whilst we often hear of fixing problems and helping others as the aims of immersion programmes, the Loreto Timor- Leste Immersion was, in fact, not at all about that.

The focus of the 11 girls and two staff members who participated was to give of ourselves and to be seekers of truth, rather than to do charity work, to judge or to solve problems. Whilst the girls planned activities, particularly basic English lessons, the real aim was to connect with the people we met. And we did this with ukuleles, singing, games and a tiny bit of very basic Tetum.

MARY WARD TOLD US TO BE “SEEKERS OF TRUTH AND DOERS OF JUSTICE” AND THIS TRIP GAVE US THE OPPORTUNITY TO CARRY OUT HER WORDS.

There were so many highlights of the trip that it is impossible to detail all that we did. Initially, we were based in Baucau, the second biggest city in Timor, 120kms and 4 ½ hours’ drive from Dili. From here we visited the Loreto Preschool in Gari-uai that we have supported via our Mission Day fundraising for some years. We were privileged to see the preschool almost completed and already in action, and to visit the neighbouring government primary school. We also spent time in a women’s domestic violence shelter and particularly enjoyed our interactions with the young people at an afterschool Youth Centre.

The second part of our trip was for many of us the most significant. Our time in the village of Remexio in the hills to the south of Dili was the most confronting in terms of accommodation, amenities and food and drink. Here, we were immersed in the reality of life for Timorese rural communities. The experience of bucket showers, no flushing toilets, electricity that was at best intermittent and the basic diet of white boiled rice, two-minute noodles and boiled greens was challenging and powerful.

The immersion’s success can be measured in the girls’ reactions to the sobering reality of what they saw.

For these girls, this experience demonstrated the hope that exists in the young people of Timor but also revealed the reality of the lack of opportunities for much of the population.

WHILE THE EXPOSURE TO THE POVERTY OF THE COUNTRY WAS INITIALLY A SHOCK, IT SIGNIFICANTLY ALTERED OUR VIEWPOINTS AND MADE US APPRECIATE OUR OWN SITUATIONS. S A L LY N I E L S O N

MAKER CLUB MR RUSS MORGAN This year saw the launch of Loreto’s first Maker Club.

Maker Club runs after school once a week and has initially been offered to students in our junior years. Maker Club offers our students the opportunity to design and manufacture a wide range of artefacts. Some of the things we have explored this semester include 3D Printing, electronics, manual and computer based Designing and 3D Scanning. Students have demonstrated their enthusiasm and ingenuity by designing and making their own personalised Fidget Spinners, LED Badges and 3D Scans of themselves. In the future we will be probably be expanding what we offer to include Robotics, Coding and image editing using Photoshop.

Clubs such as the Maker Club reflect the College’s commitment to providing a broad range of activities which allow students to pursue their interests and develop their talents. The Maker Club is also a very practical way to encourage girls to consider future study and career options in the STREAM area (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Art & Mathematics). And it is also lots of fun!

IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 75% OF THE FASTEST GROWING OCCUPATIONS WILL REQUIRE STEM RELATED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE, INCLUDING CRITICAL THINKING, PROBLEM SOLVING AND ANALYTICAL CAPABILITIES. IF GIRLS ARE NOT ENCOURAGED TO BELIEVE THEY CAN BE THE PHYSICISTS, ENGINEERS AND COMPUTER SCIENTISTS OF THE FUTURE, THEY WILL NOT CHOOSE THE ADVANCED LEVEL SUBJECTS AT SCHOOL THAT ARE REQUIRED TO ENTER STEM PROGRAMS AT VOCATIONAL AND TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS. YOUNG WOMEN WILL NOT ONLY BE SHUT OUT OF THE MAJORITY OF JOBS, BUT ALSO MANY OF THE HIGHEST PAID CAREERS. L O R E TO S P O R T S DINNER 2017 Parents enjoyed a fantastic night at the 2017 Loreto Sports Dinner on Tuesday 15 August, with over 215 parents, staff, Sports Captains and students in attendance.

We were treated to three inspiring guest panellists who outlined their journey from schoolgirl champions to the world stage, including 2000 Olympics silver medalist in pole vault, Tatiana Grigorieva, Brisbane Lions AFL representative and Brisbane Heat cricket Captain, Delissa Kimmince, and Australian netballer Gretel Tippett from the Queensland Firebirds. We were also fortunate to secure Channel 9 Reporter, Brittney Kleyn as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies.

Members of the Sport Support Group worked tirelessly to secure a large number of great prizes and auction items for the night, and we are so grateful to the 50+ local businesses and Loreto families who assisted in this way. L O R E TO S TA R S 2 0 1 7 Tiaan Smith (Year 12) gained national selection for Volleyball (both Indoor and Beach) and was appointed the Australian U19 Volleyball Team Captain. She is currently a member of the Queensland Pirates Australian Volleyball League team which competes in the national league. Tiaan was also selected in the Queensland Academy of Sport Volleyball program and into the AIS Beach Volleyball program for 2018.

Presley Woods (Year 10) took part in the Harvest Rain Theatre Company production of the musical ‘Grease - The Arena Spectacular’.

Presley was one of 850 performers chosen as part of this spectacular show.

Anyela Rogan (Year 9) and Trinity Cunningham (Year 7) qualified for the Queensland State Gymnastics Team and competed at the National Championships.

Phoebe Reid-Smith (Year 12) was selected for three special roles. Firstly, she was chosen as the member for the Greenslopes electorate in this year’s Queensland Youth Parliament which involved membership of the Justice & Legal Affairs Committee. Secondly, Phoebe was selected to represent Australia as a delegate in the United Nations Youth Assembly in New York in August. She enjoyed an amazing opportunity to participate in workshops, lectures, debates and meetings with other world representatives. Thirdly, Phoebe was selected as an Ambassador for ‘One Girl’, an organisation that promotes the education of girls and women in developing countries. Phoebe helped to raise funds to educate girls in Uganda and Sierra Leone.

The following Year 11 students were chosen to become Peer Mentors in 2017: Abigail Clark, Madeline Fitzgerald, Eleftheria Georgas, Kristelle Jaimes, Caitlin Laycock, Jessica Liddy, Victoria Lopez Vaquero, Sophia Morris, Gemma St Ledger, Anna Stathis, Hannah Underwood, Julia Wands, Eleanor Whitaker, Stephanie White, Tamara Wolf, Mia Wong.

Maddison Ryan (Year 12) was selected for the U17 Australian Indoor Netball team to compete in South Africa and competed

as a member of the Queensland team at the National Titles where her team was undefeated, winning the Australian Championships. She was also selected to compete in the World Junior Indoor Netball Championships where she played against New Zealand, England and South Africa.

Lucy Buttini and Mia Wong (Year 11) were selected in the annual Queensland–Swiss exchange program which is open to all Queensland high school students in Year 11 who are currently studying French.

Competition is high as there are many more applicants than places available.

The following students are actively involved in Queensland Surf Lifesaving, competing in a range of Youth Championships and Carnivals: Emily Humphries (Year 7), Hayley Rowan (Year 8), Chloe Kinross (Year 8), Grace Kinross (Year 8), Layla Manser (Year 8) and Riah Manser (Year 11). Layla Manser qualified as a Surf Life Saver and will now join her older sister Riah on beach patrol.

Abbey Guilfoyle (Year 11) travelled to France to perform at the Australian Memorial in Villers-Bretonneux on Anzac Day, as a member of the Voices of Birrallee Anzac Commemoration Choir 2017.

Abigail Cairns (Year 11) performed in the Ensemble of Les Miserables with the Ipswich Musical Theatre Company in September. She was the youngest adult in the cast, achieving her place in a highly contested audition.

Hannah Kassulke (2016) was also in the cast.

Congratulations to the over 270 Loreto Music students and staff who performed so well at the Queensland Catholic Colleges’ Music Festival. Loreto students achieved 7 Gold, 10 Silver and 3 Bronze Awards.

Laura Bourke (Year 11) was selected to ride in the Queensland team at the Pony Club Association of Queensland Nationals for Tetrathlon. She also represented Loreto in the Equestrian State Championships, and was awarded 5th place in the State in the 2017 State Show Jumping Championships.

Stephanie Taylor (Year 7) won the State Title for Modern Pentathlon and finished 2nd in the Fencing State Titles.

Arabeth Ireland (Year 11) was awarded equal First place in the State in the 2017 Australian Geography competition. An exciting part of her prize was to attend an all-expenses paid trip to Kangaroo Island, where she participated in various Geography field work activities.

Congratulations to all the girls who participated in the Language Perfect World Championships. Loreto achieved 127th globally out of 1,302 schools, 22nd overall in Queensland and 29th in Australia for schools our size. Loreto girls spent 581 hours answering 442, 812 questions – all in just 10 days! Natalie Gjokmarkovic and Anastasia Paramanov (Year 10) were given Elite awards, meaning that they earned over 10 000 points each.

L O R E TO S TA R S 2 0 1 7 Madeline Jones (Year 12) completed the QUT Future Leaders Program. This offers high-achieving students an opportunity to engage with QUT through a series of enrichment events giving them the confidence and inspiration to become future leaders and entrepreneurs.

Gianna Pavilion (Year 8) and Lindsay Baker (Year 8) received Gold Awards in the Education Perfect Science Championships placing them in the top 2% of 80,000 worldwide competitors.

Claire Jukes (Year 7), Gianna Pavilion (Year 8) and Lily Boyle (Year 8) won Gold Medals in the Manga High Super Hero Maths Challenge.

Mikayla Staples (Year 10) will be the first Loreto student to participate in the Association for Space and Science Education (HASSE) international program designed to empower young women to nurture their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields. She departs for Houston on 9 December and returns on 23 December from what is sure to be a life changing experience.

Ella Lidstone (Year 8), Saoirsa Ireland (Year 8) and Arabeth Ireland (Year 11) competed in the Queensland State Championships for Ice-skating.

Elise Andreas (Year 12) won two awards in this year’s State-wide Literary Competition sponsored by ETAQ, the QIEU and James Cook University. Elise won second place in Section A (Years 11 and 12) Non-Fiction Prose with her feature article entitled ‘Intersecting Stories’. In addition, Elise entered her short story entitled ‘Taunts and Touchstones’ and this won a Highly Commended Award.

Year 9 Business students Annabel Watson and Isla Jenkins were awarded second place in the Queensland Office of Fair Trading’s “Buy Smart” Competition.

ODDS & ENDS Michelle Heynen (1997) has risen above some extraordinary challenges in her life and achieved some wonderful things. She has published a book, Reflections of Sandra, which is dedicated to her late mother. She is also in the early stages of publishing her second book about her own diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis and the impact it has had on her life. Michelle works as a mentor to other young authors and those going through personal struggles.

Rhiannen Gimpel (2006) was named Middle Years Educator of the Year at the Adolescent Success awards which recognise teachers who demonstrate exemplary middle schooling practice.

Rhiannon teaches Home Economics & Hospitality at John Paul College.

Monique Latemore (2005) earned a Masters in Music from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2011, and for two years was a scholarship recipient of the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School and Dante Alighieri Italian Society. In 2016, Monique debuted as the principal heroine, Rosina, in Opera Queensland’s mainstage and touring production of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. Monique has now been accepted into a prestigious course in Germany at the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar.

Helen Svoboda (2011) is working as a professional Jazz Double Bassist. While she initially started playing bass at Loreto to fill a need to cover this position in the Big Band, her most recent gig was playing at Brisbane’s new Doo-Bop Jazz Bar with renowned Australian jazz vocalist Emma Pask.

Laura Egorov (2010) (3rd from right) is a Contracts Administrator with construction company Stokes Wheeler.

She was recently nominated for The National Association of Women in Construction’s “Young Achiever Award”.

Greta Smart (2011) appeared in a recent episode of Love Child on Channel 9, playing the part of Alan’s wife.

Carolene Meli (2002), a BREATHE project manager for Cirque du Soleil, spoke to the Senior class of Loreto College in the final weeks of their secondary schooling.

Carolene shared some of the highs and lows of her life since school with honesty and good humour. She gave the girls three ‘takeaways’ for their lives – to take their time, to learn from each experience and to connect with people.

LORETO BOOK CLUB Loreto has been very lucky to enjoy the ongoing support of Avid Reader and past pupil Jennifer Stephens (1988) over the past two years, and we’ve established a strong following for our Book Club.

There is a lovely inter-generational aspect to this group, as we have past pupil members spanning right across the decades. We urge all members of our Loreto community to consider joining us in 2018. The annual Spring Luncheon was once again a huge success with guest speaker Christen O’Leary (1983) noting how her own involvement allowed her to reconnect with past school colleagues – an experience she truly cherished.

We thank everyone in attendance for their generous support of the raffle, with funds raised supporting both Mary Ward International and the Loreto Scholarship Fund. Principal Cheryl Hamilton informed the Luncheon attendees that the Loreto Past Pupils’ Association Inc. has contributed $43,856 over the last five years (2012 to 2016). These funds have contributed towards a Mary Ward education for girls that may not otherwise have had the opportunity. The Spring Luncheon greatly assists the Past Pupils’ Association in this important aspect of fundraising.

In looking toward other ways we can support the College, LPPA Inc have established another key initiative in support of the College’s current Peer Mentor program. A Peer Mentor is a person who has been nominated by her peers and has volunteered to be of service to her fellow students.

She is trained to have the skills and confidence to respond in the best possible way when a fellow student turns to her with a problem.

L O R E TO G E N E R AT I O N S C O L L O P Y — D O O L E Y — C L A R K E F A M I LY On her arrival in Brisbane from Perth early in 1940, Marie Dooley (Collopy) remembers being greeted by two Loreto students at the Railway Station with a bouquet of flowers.

Like many boarders, Marie’s family lived in Brisbane (Clayfield), however she begged her parents to allow her to board at Loreto. Marie simply loved the company of her fellow boarders and cherishes the friends made here during 1940 and 1941.

Mass was celebrated every day by the Carmelite Fathers, and the boarders would join the Loreto Sisters in the Chapel located in the Deshon home. Marie remembers being in awe of the nuns but also appreciating their genuine concern for the girls and their studies. She recalls being taught by Mother Rosario, Mother Crescentia, Mother Raymond, Mother Dennis and Mother Rosa, and also remembers fondly the lay sisters who worked in the laundry and kitchen.

Marie finished her schooling in Melbourne and married Des in 1952. Upon her return to Brisbane in the early 1950s, she joined the Loreto Past Pupils’ Association and became its Secretary – a tradition that would pass down to her eldest daughter Mary Clarke (Dooley 1969) who served as LPPA President between 2000-2006 and 2008-2012.

With five children (Mary (1969), Cathy, Pauline (1972), James and Brian) all attending Loreto in the late 1960’s, the Dooley family enjoyed very strong links with Loreto Coorparoo spanning 1965-1978. With Pauline’s daughter, Lucy, a past pupil of Loreto Kirribilli, and James recently marrying Susan (a past pupil from Loreto Cavan, Ireland, whom he met while working in China), these Loreto links continue to expand.

As Brisbane’s first clinical social worker, Marie lectured medical students and had a key role in the origins of ‘Centacare’. One of the most telling stories regarding Marie’s amazing spirit concerns her driver-training skills. Marie took the role of a parent volunteer to the next level and taught a dozen nuns to drive in her Datsun Bluebird!

Marie’s eldest daughter, Mary attended Coorparoo during the time of Woodstock, The Beatles, more accessible colour TV, the Vietnam War and student revolutions. “I remember it being a time where Vatican II had started to affect thinking and the nuns were considering the future direction for the College. We had our first male teacher at Loreto (Mr Gary Stewart), and the nuns changed their outfit and now had their short hair showing. There was a lot of guitar singing and our days were a lot of fun.” Mary continued these Loreto ties with daughters Sarah (1998), Edwina (2000), Fiona (2003), Bridget (2004), and Annabel (2007) all attending Coorparoo.

When Mary presents Autograph Books to the graduating Year 12 students, she brings along her Mum’s books from the 1940’s. The girls delight in reading through the messages and seeing the care taken with calligraphy and heartfelt rhymes dedicated to Loreto friends and memories. Mary always emphasises that whilst the girls may physically leave the school grounds of Loreto, nobody can take the ‘Loreto’ out of the girl. Marie now has 15 grand-children (eight boys and seven girls, six of whom are Loreto past pupils), and two great grand-daughters on their way to Loreto Coorparoo in the future, so we look forward to many years of generational linkages ahead.

CATHERINE GREGORY (2003) FLUTIST ‘To be such as we appear and appear such as we are’ – these are the words of Mary Ward that continue to echo in the mind of acclaimed flutist and past pupil Catherine Gregory (2003). The virtues of Felicity, Sincerity and Justice have guided Catherine as she has forged her own inspiring path.

Catherine’s fondest memories of Loreto Coorparoo are the sense of community, the warmth and character of the teachers, and the camaraderie amongst friends. With the thoughtful prayer and liturgy and Mission Day spirit staying with her since her Loreto days, this self-proclaimed ‘Barry girl’ vividly remembers the fierce loyalty and battle lines drawn among Houses (especially on sport carnival days); cross-country training in the streets of Coorparoo; and the anticipated Loreto/Villa Musical every other year.

With a younger sister, Melissa Gregory (2009), and brother Matthew Gregory (Villanova – 2007) Catherine recalls how their parents fostered in her a great love of learning and an appreciation of music from a young age. “The piano was my first instrument, but I gravitated strongly toward the flute in my early high school years. Over time, the latter instrument became my great love, with its agility, versatility, iridescent sound qualities, and capacity for expression. Most of all, I enjoyed the window it gave me into ensemble playing and chamber music. Various mentors have played a significant role in my journey, which in some ways had beginnings from flute ensemble and orchestra rehearsals on the Mary Ward Centre stage”.

With so many achievements (http://www.catherine gregory.com/about/), it is clear how diligently Catherine has worked throughout her career. She attributes this success to “having forged meaningful connections and throwing myself into many types of work – as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player, and teaching artist. This variety ensures my career remains challenging and artistically satisfying.”

It is Catherine’s latest foray which invigorates and inspires her passion for both music and social justice. Currently based in the cultural melting pot of New York, working with ‘Decoda’, the affiliate ensemble of Carnegie Hall,

Catherine was recently appointed as Co-Artistic Director.

This chamber collective is dedicated to bringing meaningful musical experiences to all audiences. “We explore creativity, community, and identity through live performances and thoughtful methods of engagement all around the world. From performing in traditional concert halls, to classrooms, to songwriting projects for incarcerated communities, to community building workshops, we endeavour to use music as a means for transformation. Decoda has established annual chamber music and leadership institutes at Skidmore College and in South Africa, as well as annual residencies in Merida, Mexico and as the Resident Ensemble in Creative Performance at the Guildhall School of Music in London, UK.” In looking forward, Catherine dreams of establishing a chamber music festival in Australia, as a way to both foster cultural exchange between her two homes, and perhaps as a way to spend more time back in the country she still adores – citing Dorothea Mackellar’s famous words, “The wide brown land for me!”.

With some parting advice for Loreto students today, Catherine implores them to “follow your dreams, find your tribe, and live your mission and vision! Surround yourself with people who inspire you and never stop learning. Realize that making mistakes and enduring perceived failures are both essential to growth. With the flute, I found my voice. As the famous French flautist Jean-Pierre Rampal once remarked: “… the flute, the magic wand which transfigures our inner world when touching it: a divining rod which opens up the inner depths”. Find what it is that resonates with you to your very core and live that truth!”

Two of her sisters, Nathalie Dudson (1956), and Mary Irmer (1963) were right by her side as Dr Lee-Anne Perry, Executive Director of the Queensland Catholic Education Commission, presented Sr Diaan with her certificate of nomination for a ‘Spirit of Catholic Education Award’.

CLASS OF 2007 – 10 YEAR REUNION It was a fantastic turnout from the Class of 2007! Filling the Foxy Bean Café in Woolloongabba, the ladies enjoyed a wonderful reunion on Saturday evening, 11 November.

Thank you to Heather Kirkup for all of your hard work in chasing up the 2007 crew (especially given you’ve also had a wedding to organise!). It was wonderful to hear the wide ranging careers and other adventures this group have pursued.

CLASS OF 1997 – 20 YEAR REUNION Andrea Appleton, Angie Phelan and Tanya Bopf (Malouf) wanted to make sure their reunion event triggered some quite specific memories of days gone by. Re-visiting their Semi-Formal venue seemed too tempting to pass up!

On Saturday 7 October, 70 ladies from the Class of 1997 met at the Coorparoo Bowls Club for a trip down memory lane. The ladies were also treated to some surprise guests at their event, with Dr Rai Irmer, Mr Brian Deveson and Mr Bill Kenny ensuring those school day memories came flooding back!

CLASS OF 1987 – 30 YEAR REUNION Joined by Sr Anne Kelly ibvm, the 1987 year group gathered at the Heritage Room in the Story Bridge Hotel on Saturday evening, 7 October to reminisce. Our thanks go to Belinda McAuliffe (Cappelli) and Maria Ebert (Teys) for going all out and preparing a ‘formative years’ playlist’ for the evening, not to mention a photo loop of images from those memorable 80’s school days and social activities. “It really was a fantastic night where old friends came together, sipped champagne, laughed and reminisced about our memorable high school days. We were lucky enough to have 43 gorgeous women attend, some of whom travelled from interstate so as not to miss this great night. Everyone was so thrilled to be able to catch up with Sr Anne who had a fabulous time reminiscing with us all, sharing many laughs and even a few tears! It was wonderful to hear so many women talk about their achievements throughout life by way of their families, travels, their own businesses and even stories of dealing with some of those difficult situations life can throw at us.” (Belinda McAuliffe)

L O R E TO R E U N I O N S CLASS OF 1977 – 40 YEAR REUNION New Farm was treated to the sweet sounds of Loreto’s ‘Cruci’ as 42 ladies from the Class of 1977 gathered for lunch at Watt Restaurant (Brisbane Powerhouse) on Sunday 21 October and broke into song in an effort to bring back the sounds of their schooldays. A meticulously organised affair, we extend our sincere thanks to Karen Peterson (Webber), Lynette Trinder (Pointing) and friends (a reunion committee of six no less!) for putting in so much effort to make this event such a memorable occasion.

“With some coming from as far away as central Queensland and interstate, 40 years of living, sharing, reconnecting and renewing long lost friendships was crammed into one wonderful afternoon. For some this was the opportunity to reconnect, for others it was another milestone in already established lifelong friendships. Our memories of our school years are filled with happiness and camaraderie, and the pride of being a ”Loreto girl” which not even 40 years could diminish.” (Karen Peterson).

CLASS OF 1967 – 50 YEAR REUNION Our huge gratitude goes to the Class of 1967 for their thoughtful class gift to our Loreto Scholarship Fund. The ladies gathered together at the Continental Café in New Farm on Saturday 29 July, making the very most of the travel plans of classmates who were attending our annual Senior Past Pupils 50+ Year Reunion & Mass earlier that week. Our thanks to Anne Marie Pigott (Beirne) and Robyn Bowman (Corbett) for bringing this group together, and for ensuring the extra special touches such as presenting the ‘Senior Past Pupils’ pin. “It was a wonderful occasion, very relaxed and chatty. Many funny stories and reminiscences were shared. I used the badges you so kindly provided as the pin for each person’s name tag and then explained their significance in a toast to the school, and particularly our class.

Fr Wayne Stanhope was the officiant and helped design the ceremony which was a celebration of both Catholic and Jewish traditions. Melissa Gregory (2009) (2nd from left) was Maid of Honour and Matthew Gregory (Villanova 2007) (1st on right) was Groomsman.
