Volume 27 - 4 September, 2012 Dear Parents and Students

God our Father, we give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old.

We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their voca on;

May they find courage and perseverance to balance work, family and

faith in joy and sacrifice.

We pray for own Fathers around the world whose children are lost or suffering;

May they know that the God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow. We pray for men who are not fathers but s ll mentor and guide us with

fatherly love and advice.

We remember fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers who are no longer

with us but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love. Amen.

Today and tomorrow we remember in our prayers our Year 12’s who are si ng their Queensland Core Skills tests. We wish them well, confident in the knowledge they will give their best. May they be focussed, fearless and free. We wish them every success. INDUSTRIAL ACTION As no fied by email all parents are advised that staff in Catholic Schools across Queensland have been authorised to take a full day of industrial ac on this Thursday 6 September. Some staff from Loreto will thus be taking ac on. However, Loreto will remain open as most staff will be in a endance. Where possible, classes will be held as per the usual metable. However, there will be a need to run some supervised study lessons. Should this posi on change we will contact you by email as soon as possible. Students should therefore come to school on Thursday prepared for classes but bring with them back‐up materials for study. THANK YOU The week before last a container load of used classroom furniture and educa onal resources was sent from Clairvaux MacKillop College to Goroka in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea. This was made possible through the generous assistance of major transport company TOLL working in partnership with Clairvaux MacKillop and Loreto College. Together we sent cabinets and some second hand office furniture. Dona ons were made from Mt Maria College, St Rita’s, Carmel College, Loreto College and Clairvaux MacKillop. Clothing items and school bags completed the consignment. This has been a charitable project for the benefit of Asaro Village Community School in PNG, where students stand up in class, three to a desk. Sincere thanks go to Mrs Laura Kea ng, Principal of Clairvaux MacKillop and Mr Pat Elsworthy for their co‐ordina on of the project and support staff in both schools for their efforts and cheerful assistance throughout.
