Volume 17 - 2 June, 2015 Dear Parents & Students Have enthusiasm for your cause, nothing of much worth is a attained without enthusiasm. Mother Gonzaga Barry IBVM
And so it is, I hope, with great enthusiasm that the students have begun their final preparations in the countdown for the upcoming end of semester exams. This is the season of the harvest, where the fruits of commitment, perseverance and hardwork will be rewarded. I thank the teachers for their every effort given to engendering in their students a love of learning and a thirst for the pursuit of excellence. I look forward to reading many reports of positive engagement and learning at term’s end. PRINCIPAL’S LEAVE – Term Three
In this, my fifth year as Principal of Loreto, I am blessed to be given the opportunity for enrichment/sabbatical leave. This means that I will be on leave from the College for Term Three. In my absence, Ms Helen Carty will be the Acting Principal. I wish to thank her most sincerely for accepting this appointment. I know that she will greatly enjoy this experience and that she will be well supported by the wonderful Loreto community. Whilst Ms Carty takes on this added responsibility, Ms Annie Diamond will be the Acting Deputy Principal Pastoral Care and Mrs Rosemary O’Neill will be the Acting Year 12 Coordinator. I wish to thank them both for accepting these positions. I know that they too will both enjoy your support. I wish them every success for the term. Some of my time away will be spent attending a Summer School for School Principals at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. This course is one that has been highly recommended to me by colleagues so I am greatly looking forward to the experience. As well as spending some time in the States, my husband and I will also be taking part in a one month Study Tour on Catholic Culture conducted by the Catholic Theological College University of Divinity. This Study Tour – Pilgrimage visits sites of Catholic significance in Ireland, Scotland, England and Italy. I know that I shall relish every moment and look forward to sharing aspects of this experience with the community upon my return. WELCOME
To Mrs Jenny Sampford who once again joins us for a short stay. Mrs Sampford will be with us for the next four weeks in the absence of Mrs Jeanette Little who is taking some Long Service Leave to spend time with her family in celebration of the birth of Mrs Little’s first grandchild, Spencer. We wish her every joy for this special time away.
