Volume 25 - 19 August, 2014 Dear Parents and Students We give thanks for singers. All types of singers. Popular, concert singers and tuneless singers in the bath. Whistlers, hummers and those who sing while they work. Singers of lullabies; singers of nonsense and small scraps of melody. Singers on branches and rooftops. Morning yodellers and evening warblers. Singers in seedy nightclubs, singers in the street; Singers in the cathedrals, schools halls, grandstands, backyards, paddocks, bedrooms, corridors, stairwells and places of echo and resonance. We give praise to all those who give some small voice to the everyday joy of the soul.

Amen.

Micheal Leunig “When I talk to you”

I offer my congratulations to the many students who last week performed in various Bands, Ensembles, Choirs and Orchestras as part of this year’s Queensland Colleges’ Music Festival giving “voice to the everyday joy of the soul”. As always their performances were polished and professional, earning high praise from the adjudicators. In all Loreto received an impressive 14 Gold and 4 Silver. Congratulations to all involved for the many months of planning, practice, rehearsals and commitment. Special thanks to the Music Department and tutors for their encouragement, support and enthusiasm.
