COVID-19 PROCEDURES MANAGEMENT OF SUSPECTED COVID-19 PATIENTS

Suspected cases will be informed to Public health Department who will instruct the Nurse how to proceed. Please note, should the Public Health deem the patient a suspected case they may instruct the Nurse with the assistance of the Hotel, in the case of a guest, he or she must remain in their room or in the holding room until the Public Health visit the property to access the patient and take them to medical facility if necessary.
Sick Employees
Employees who appear to have symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, new loss of taste and smell) upon arrival at work or who become sick during the day should be immediately separated from other employees, customers, visitors and be sent home.
Separation from other employees.
Identify a room that will be used as a sick bay / holding area. The sick bay should have at minimum an equipped hand-washing station or where not practicable, the provision of a handsanitizer station (equipped with the requisite alcohol content - 62% alcohol).
Sent home arrangement.
Since employees are presenting with COVID-19 symptoms, safe transportation measures are to form part of the contingency plans for handling sick employees whilst at work.
Sick Guest
During the quarantine period, it is important that staff take precautions to prevent the spread of the virus. Staff should avoid close contact with these guests unless duly authorized by a trained medical professional. Food and other services should be delivered to guest(s) in quarantine by a staff member who has been properly fitted with the recommended safety gear.
If the guest falls ill or requests assistance from their room, the guest should be quarantined in-room and care administered until Public Health and/or Ministry of Health and Wellness personnel arrive on property. Companions travelling with the affected person(s) should also be placed under selfquarantine until Public Health and or Ministry of Health and Wellness personnel arrive on property.
ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN FOR COVID-19 POSITIVE CASES
When any employee or guest is confirmed to have COVID-19 infection, employers are to inform fellow employees of their possible exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace while maintaining confidentiality as required by the MOHW and follow all the instructions given by them.
ISOLATION ROOMS
Patient must remain in the room.
The Hotels needs to equip the isolation room with necessary equipment hand wash station or hand sanitizer dispenser, the things for comfort and medical grade PPE (N95 face masks, face shields, disposable aprons, gowns) for the worker. Predicted time for patient evaluation might varies by the Health department, hence patient comfort and mental status is very important in their cases.
MoHW and Hospiten Supervisors must be informed.
Meals must be sent to the room by hotel staff using room service and leave them by the door or in the receiving box.
Only 1 person must be assigned to the room for each shift.
Temperature must be check by Medical provider (Nurse) two times per day.
Patient must be transfer by the Ministry of Health to their designated location.
Sanitize isolation rooms upon exit of the patient.
TREATMENT AND FOLLOW-UP VISIT WHILE PATIENT IS IN ISOLATION ROOM
Treatment will be carried out by the nurse based on the patient condition until the necessary personnel from the Health Department arrived,
A care plan and a set schedule of follow up visit will be created by the nurse for the treatment and monitoring of each patient, same will be documented and make available to be presented or handover to necessary license medical personnel upon request or arrival.
Patient will be an assigned a trained staff provided by hotel Health and Risk Committee in collaboration with nurse, the staff will fully equipped and attired with necessary PPE, to provide meal to the patient.
Communicate with patient via telephone is important for follow up care, and must be available in the room in case there’s a change in their condition, or a need for anything, and a trained security can also be place nearby the isolation room area.
TRANSPORTING PATIENTS FROM HOTEL TO THE HOSPITAL OR ANY OTHER MEDICAL FACILITIES
If a patient shows symptom, he/she should be placed under self-quarantine until Public Health and or Ministry of Health and Wellness personnel arrive on location or be immediately transported to the nearest health facility, where applicable as instructed by the MoHW.
The nurse at all time must keep their supervisors up-to-date with all action be taken by the them in caring for the patient
The patient must be transfer in the appropriate transportation vessel, an ambulance with trained medical personnel to continue monitor or management patient condition.
The drop off location example; medical facilities must be informed of patient condition as instructed by the Health Department, and also mode of transfer and time of department with patient expected time of arrival after leaving property. The patient and relative have to be fully informed of patient care and further plans, as recommended by the Health Department and consent must be given by patient or relative.
The medical team transferring the patient must be contacted prior to arrival and fully informed of patient status and recommended management, pick and drop off location, in order to organize and equip themselves according to the health guideline protocols.
The hotel will carry out their role and function in maintaining smooth transition of patient transfer, by making all necessary arrangement to create a safe route or passage of transfer for the patient to and other personnel on property to minimize contaminating areas and crowd management, by assigning workers properly trained to achieve this goal.
