The cost of anything purchased at the shop will be added to your child’s school bill.

If you have LWC items you would like to donate to the shop, please ensure they are clean and in good repair, and leave them, clearly labelled, with your house Matron.

General Uniform Guidelines (1st Form to 5th Form)

All Pupils

All pupils should be dressed smartly and should take pride in their appearance. The College uniform must be worn on weekdays from 7.45am until the end of the working day.

Boys’ hair should be clean, smart, tidy, shorter than collar length, and not shaven.

Girls’ hair should be clean, smart, tidy and off the face. Long hair should be tied back (1st – 5th form girls).

Hair should be predominantly natural in colour and not exhibiting any extremes of fashion.

Boys must be clean shaven at all times. Boys may not wear earrings or other piercings, but may wear a discreet ring, necklace or bracelet.

Girls may wear only one stud or sleeper in the lower lobe of each ear, one discreet ring, necklace and bracelet, but not ankle bracelets. No other piercings are permitted.

Pupils in Junior House may not wear make-up. Pupils in 3rd-Sixth Form may wear a discreet amount of make-up when in College uniform. Any type of false nails are not permitted and coloured nail varnish may not be worn.

For Saturday morning activities pupils may dress in casual clothes rather than College uniform.

Casual dress consists of clean and tidy clothes of a sensible design. In all cases staff have discretion to decide on what is acceptable.

For certain activities, trips, and visits outside College, pupils may wear casual clothes according to the instructions issued by a member of staff. Pupils may only attend lessons in casual or games clothing if they have a specific reason and, even then, only with the permission of the person in charge of the outing/activity and the class teacher concerned.

Pupils must attend breakfast and lunch in College uniform except as above.

All uniform and sports kit garments must be clearly labelled with a pupil’s first name, surname and boarding house.

Shoes

All pupils must wear smart black shoes which should be clean and in good repair (not boots or trainers).

Heel height should not exceed 35mm.

Black or grey socks must be worn with trousers. Black un-patterned tights or white ankle socks should be worn with skirts (pupils should not be bare legged). Flesh coloured tights may be worn in the summer term only.

Sixth Form Pupils

Sixth Form pupils do not to wear College uniform; however, it is the intention of the College to have a Sixth Form who look smart, feel smart, and work smart. Our Sixth Form are given greater freedom and flexibility than 1st to 5th form but, in preparation for the world of higher education and employment, should always be professional/interview smart in their appearance.

‘Sixth Form dress’ must be worn at all times during the working day (Mon-Fri; 8.00am – 3.45pm).

We hope that all pupils will feel comfortable to make a thoughtful and considered choice about the clothes worn at school in relation to their gender identity.

This policy is the product of widespread collaboration within the LWC community - including pupils, parents, staff and governors. In addition, it was informed by the guidance produced by the UCL Institute of Education and the School of Sexuality Education (link here). It will be reviewed at least every two years.
