Day1
WedeparttheUKforSpainandtransfertoour hotel.Hereweenjoydinnerandagood night’ssleepbeforestartingourchallengeinthe morning!
Day2 Alcazaba(3,371m)
Wemakeanearlystarttodayinpreparationfor thetoughestdayofourchallenge–theascentof Alcazaba,locatedtothenorthofMulhacén. AftercatchingthebustoAltadelChorrillofrom Capileiraourchallengebegins,andwefollow thesouthridgeforanhourbeforefollowingthe easterntraverseofMulhacentoSieteLagunas. SieteLagunasisamostbeautifulplace–alush greenvalleycontainingsevenlakessurrounded bydramaticpeaks.Afterreplenishingourwater suppies,weascendthevalleybeforetacklinga steepscreegullythatleadstothesummit plateau.AlcazabatakesitsnamefromtheArabic wordforfortificationorfortress,andwe’llsoon understandwhy!Aftertakingourcelebratory photosatthesummit,wemakeourwayback downthemountainandtransfertoourhotel.
Day3 Veleta(3,394m)
Ourchallengebegins!Followingbreakfastwe makethetransferfromLanjaróntotheHoya delaMora,locatedat2,500m.Webeginour ascentofthenorthridgeofVeleta,thethird highestpeakinmainlandSpain.Thetrekking isroughandrocky,andourjourneytothe summitwilltakeapproximately3hours.From thesummitthereareoutstandingviewsinall directions,especiallysouthwardswhereona cleardaywecanseeasfarasMorocco!After we’vetakenintheviews,weconcludeour daystrekwithanascentofCerrodelos Machos,beforemakingourwaybackdownto thecoachforourtransferbacktothehotel andeveningmeal.

Day4 Mulhacén(3,482m)
Ourfinaldayinthemountains!Afteranearly start,wecatchtheNationalParkbusfrom CapileiratoMiradordeTrevelez.Fromherewe ascendthesteepandrockywestflankof Mulhacén,thehighestpeakinmainlandSpain. Fromthesummitwecanseethewholechainof theSierraNevadarange-iftheweatherisonour side!Wedescendviathelongandgentlesouth ridgebeforecatchingthebusbacktothehotel. Thiseveningwewillhavealittletimetorelax beforeourcelebratorymeal!
