Thursday 1st BRAZIL

There is a little group of over a dozen isolated assemblies in the central region of Brazil (see map). They are “few and far between”, many of them separated by many hundreds of miles from any neighbouring assembly (the furthest away from us is 1900 miles). Some of these assemblies have existed for a few decades, some have just been newly planted. Pray for their preservation and increase. Elen and I are on our way to Rio Verde, over 450 miles from Pirassununga, where twelve meetings have been arranged from Thursday to Sunday. There are three small assemblies within a 60 miles radius, and we expect between 80 and 100 people to be present.

We continue with the translation and publication of the Ritchie commentaries (What the Bible Teaches). The New Testament set is complete with 16 volumes - the first edition (hard cover, 3,000 copies each) is running out, and most volumes have received a second edition (soft cover, print-ondemand). Of the Old Testament we have 14 volumes published, so only 5 remaining. Isaiah was published in July, and we are on the final editing of Jeremiah. We also publish the “Assembly Testimony” series of “Glory books”, various other books and booklets (a total of around 50 different titles), and a little magazine, sent out free of charge. Literature has been especially helpful to these isolated assemblies mentioned above, so we ask you to pray for the literature work.

We also value your prayers for the preservation of the established testimonies, and for the spread of the Gospel in the region around Pirassununga, an area of approximately 40 square miles in the southeast of Brazil. There are nine assemblies in this area. Some are going well (we had the joy of witnessing various baptisms this year in the towns of Descalvado, Aguaí, Pirassununga and Palmeiras), but some are struggling, with reduced numbers (please pray especially for the small assembly in Casa Branca). We have also seen some progress in Poços de Caldas, a large town of over 170,000 inhabitants on the

eastern fringe of our region. There is no assembly in Poços, only a weekly Gospel meeting in the home of a couple who meet with the assembly in Aguaí, 30 miles away. A young man has been saved and baptised in that town. C. 1998

I had four weeks of Gospel meetings with brother Donald Armstrong in the Armagh assembly, concluding on the 12th of September. We were glad to see many unbelievers attending each night with a definite interest shown by some. We were thankful to God for the opportunity to “sow the seed” another time and look alone to the Lord to give the increase. At the end of September, I was invited to the assembly in Mechelen, Belgium where I had a couple of Gospel meetings. The assembly had already distributed invitations in the district for a Gospel meeting each Saturday and Sunday night. I also shared some ministry and gave a report on our recent visit to Lviv, Ukraine. It was a joy another time to fellowship with the saints there and we appreciated their effort in the Gospel. We would very much value your prayers as we have just taken delivery of 15,000 Ukrainian Gospel calendars and have commenced distributing these in Northern and Southern Ireland among Ukrainian refugees. Again, we have chosen four pictures from Ukraine: Kiev, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and the Carpathian Mountains – each picture has a Gospel verse on it. We have sent 5,000 copies to other large towns and cities, like Sumy, Ternopol, and Odessa in Ukraine by courier. Some of these calendars are directed towards the soldiers and the wider population. Also, our brother Lubchic in Lviv is printing 5,000 calendars for Lviv and the assembly in Ivano-Frankivsk to distribute. Only Eternity will reveal the power and success of the Living Word of God. Coming towards the end of the year, we look back with great thankfulness to all that God has done in saving some dear friends who have been long prayed for. Earlier in the year we had the baptism of seven believers. We trust that they might continue to make good progress and live for Christ. Another young believer has recently come forward to seek to obey the Lord in this way. The last of 13 Sunday School prize-givings was held on Saturday past, with a good turnout and more than 40 parents attending.

Of encouragement was a letter we received a few months back from the USA. A young man, who attended our assembly Bible Class some 40 years ago in Gaborone, professed to be saved back then along with his older brother and sister. They were the three eldest in a family of six children. They came originally from Uganda and had a staunch Roman Catholic background. Thomas wrote to tell us of his father’s final illness in Kampala, but on his second hospital admission, just before his passing, the elderly man had received Christ as his Saviour. We thank God for His mercy.

At present we are witnessing a good interest in our weekly open airs. These are held throughout the year and continue even on the cold, dark winter nights. Local people at the four sites we normally visit have been joining us and sitting on the benches that we bring along. Two weeks ago, we offered to move to another place as there was a bereavement just across the road, but the family asked us to remain and preach, for they said that they too needed to hear the Word of God.

Sunday 4th BRAZIL

At the beginning of October, we spent a few days with the Christians in Porto Ferreira. They are a small group of three couples and a brother. It is always a joy to spend time with them. We had to cut our visit short due to the extremely dry weather and I had a lung infection that developed into pneumonia. This year there have been a lot of fires in the countryside House Meeting due to dry trees and grass, and this has caused a lot of breathing problems among the population, such as pneumonias and asthma.

We visited Vinicius and Stefani recently. They are a recently married couple that live in the neighbouring town of Carandai. We had the opportunity to open the Bible and read a portion of the Word of God and speak about the plan of salvation. Stefani’s parents and sisters were also there. Vinicius and Stefani profess to be saved, and we have been invited to go back again for another house meeting. Some of the brethren from the assembly in Arame give out tracts in Carandai on a regular basis and we pray that in the near future we may be able to rent a small hall there for meetings. We would appreciate prayer for the homes of some sisters from the assembly in Arame. We mention specially Adalgiza. Her husband Geraldo won’t come to the meetings, but will listen reasonably well if we visit the home. He has nearly lost sight in one eye due to drinking alcohol and being a diabetic. Due to this he has reduced considerably his drinking, and he uses this situation as an excuse to not work. Things at home aren’t very good. They have one son that lives at home, Jeferson. He has professed to be saved and is coming to meetings with Adalgiza. Joana, Adalgiza’s sister, also has a difficult life. Her husband Gilmar never allowed the children to attend meetings with their mother. Now that they are adults, two daughters, Pamala and Pabline, have started coming to meetings with their mother. Any time we visit their mother they are there also to hear the bible reading. Her son Lucas showed some interest for some time, but at the moment he is “too busy”. Last month two brethren were received into fellowship, Francisco and Clécio. This month Clécio’s father passed away and he wasn’t saved. We would appreciate prayer for them that they may grow spiritually and be a blessing to the assembly. C. 1998 (Brazil)

We are presently involved with the end of year prize-givings for the various children’s meetings. There is a huge amount of work involved for Michelle and the children in organising it all. Summer holidays from December to the beginning of March mean that many families return to the provinces and this gives us the opportunity to visit other areas when normally we would not have the time. We have also just taken delivery of 6,000 Joyful News Calendars, which are always well received. We recently discovered three valleys that have been invaded and occupied by newcomers here in Santa Clara, and we hope to visit these new areas with the Gospel. The government has recently laid new access roads to these areas, so the door is truly open!

I hope to make an extended visit to La Arena, Piura, during the months of January and February. The assembly also has a weekend of meetings at the beginning of March each year. The work there has expanded rapidly and greatly needs workers, as the attacks of the enemy are constant. There are several nearby villages that have not been evangelised yet, and the brethren are exercised to get out into the highways and byways with Sunday School at Las Violetas the Gospel. Through the kindness of the Lord’s people, the assembly have purchased a piece of land in an area called Vichayal, about 3 miles from the village of La Arena. They plan to build an outreach hall there for Sunday School and Gospel preaching. I am looking forward to seeing the new site and arranging plans for the new hall. Please pray for a new contact called Celia. She made a long journey from her home in Chosica to attend our Gospel meeting on the Lord’s Day. We met her in a park in Santa Eulalia where she works and she showed great interest in the Gospel. She lives

in an area called 9 de Octubre, where eight years ago Michelle and another sister visited with calendars. She told us that she still has the calendar and that the Lord had obviously arranged our meeting again. Our own plans to purchase land in Alto Priale have been frustrated by a lack of land that can be legally purchased, as the district is classed as an invasion of state land. There is, however, a development just 10 minutes away that would be central for all our local children’s works. Please pray for direction regarding this. Meanwhile, we are making some adjustments to our present building as the floor has multiple cracks after recent earthquakes! We have repainted the outside of the building and added new texts owing to vandalism.

Over the past few months, there have been several opportunities to teach or preach the Word of God in Spanish in some different areas.

Outdoor meeting about to commence near Pugwash Junction, Nova Scotia Each summer there are a few dozen Mexicans who arrive in the area near the assembly in Pugwash Junction to work in lobster processing plants. Their schedule can be rather erratic, and some years I am able to share the gospel with them on a few occasions. This summer it only worked out once, but the assembly provided a meal for them before they listened attentively to the gospel being preached. Many of these folks come back year after year.

Conference in Honduras I spent the first week of October in Honduras; this was my first trip there. A conference with close to 500 present was held from the Wednesday evening until Saturday noon, and I shared with Mitch Parent, who serves the Lord in Nicaragua. The interest in the Word of God was very encouraging to me. Believers came from several parts of the country, and I was also able to visit two other assemblies during my time there.

Later in October, during the conference in Stark Road, Livonia, Michigan, a Spanish gospel meeting was held concurrently with the English one on the Saturday evening. The believers there have a weekly gospel meeting in Spanish, in part due to their ESL work, along with the contact some believers have with others in that community. I shared with Andrew Turkington and between unsaved visitors and others who were invited, close to 100 were in the audience. In November I had yet another opportunity to preach to a group of Spanish-speakers at the Bryn Mawr/Hatboro conference in Pennsylvania. There are several in fellowship in local assemblies in that general area who reach out to others in their community. The following week I returned to Texas. John and Rebekah Nesbitt went to Veracruz, Mexico for the annual conference there, and I was happy to be able to help in the work in San Antonio during their absence. Your prayers for growth and stability in the work there are greatly valued. I also visited the assembly in Houston, Texas for one mid-week meeting; I had never been there before. It was most encouraging to see the hall well-filled with believers and unbelievers. The assembly started breaking bread back in 2015 and have asked me to return for some additional teaching. Alison and I will be in Mexico from November 29th until December 13th DV. Our plan is to visit three assemblies: Puerto Vallarta, Tepic and Santiago. It was to Puerto Vallarta that we arrived in the summer of 1996 to learn the language and become involved in the work in that still needy country. We then started working early in 1997 in Tepic, and in 2004 in Santiago. Your prayers for this visit are greatly appreciated. Pray, too, that additional doors will be opened even here in the Maritime provinces to share the glorious message of the Gospel. C. 1996 (Canada)

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phil 4:13. Considering Phil 4:12 – about learning both to be abased and to abound – we’ve come to understand this truth in verse 13 more deeply. During the past three weeks of sickness, disappointments, and unexpected challenges, we’ve felt our need for Christ’s strength. Yet even in times of victory, when the gospel bears fruit and believers grow, we may need Him even more, lest pride creep in. In all things, we need Christ who strengthens us. Big praise! We received our report from our homeschooling check-up, and everything looked good. The inspectors seemed happy and satisfied with both our teaching and the children’s learning. Thank you so much for your prayers!

We had a German family, who have lived up north near Trondheim for the past fourteen years, visit us for a couple of days. They meet and break bread faithfully with a small group in their home and were absolutely starved of fellowship. We had two rich evenings together and really enjoyed the time of encouragement and sharing. We are praying about going up there some time to spend a few days with them (it’s about a seven-hour drive from here). They are truly an answer to prayer for us, and we seek the Lord’s leading in how we might encourage one another. They live in a spiritually darker part of Norway, and their children have faced both verbal and physical opposition at school for their faith. They have been without close fellowship for fourteen years, yet have faithfully shared the gospel through tracts, YouTube, websites, street preaching, and book stands. They were so thankful to have fellowship and desire further input and resources to grow. We also visited a missionary couple about an hour and a half from our home. James was able to help the husband with some practical work, while Grete and the children spent time with the wife. They both expressed deep thankfulness for the Christian fellowship. Mr. S. visited us recently, and during our family devotional at the dinner table the gospel came out clearly. We long to see him saved. During the fall break here in Western Norway, many neighbourhood children dropped by our home. Some joined in with homeschooling and everyday life and were able to observe how we interact as a family. Please pray for these young ones – that the Word sown would take root – and for us, that we would have boldness in sharing the gospel and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s leading. James also spent an evening visiting Knut, a man who has been off drugs for over ten years but still struggles with alcohol and depression. There was an opportunity to share thoughts from Scripture, and Knut had several questions from Genesis. Please pray for continued contact with him and that he would seek help from the Lord. The young man whose partner left him has now bought a house and will be moving out soon. He was very thankful for having had a place to stay with us and has even helped with some repairs around the house, which has given James more time to study. The day after Diwali, James stopped in to visit the Hindu couple we have been witnessing to. They understand the Hindu concept of karma but feel helpless to change it. Only Christ can set them free. Please pray for Mr G and Mrs J that they would see that only Jesus can give them deliverance. Grete had a good conversation with a young lady during a tent outreach a few hours from our home. Please pray for her as Grete continues to encourage her to go on for the Lord. James also had an opportunity to share the Word with a man who focuses much on prophecy and healing. Soup Kitchens

Each week, our two soup kitchens reach around 40–50 people. Alongside the food, we share the gospel and offer literature. New faces appear almost every week. Recent months have brought both sorrow and encouragement: we were saddened by the sudden passing of Billy, a well-known regular, aged just 53. We also had a sobering encounter with Win, a 17-year-old girl trafficked from Vietnam, who found her way to us after escaping abuse. On a brighter note, Marc, who has attended meetings and Bible studies at the Hall for several years, was baptised in November. Literature Two editions of The Signpost community gospel magazine were delivered in September and December, reaching over 3,000 local homes each time. More than 100,000 copies of my Exploring Christianity booklet have now been printed and distributed in English, Romanian, Polish, and Portuguese. These are made available free of charge and continue to be used in various settings. Further details are available at goodnewsperthshire.com/exploring-christianity. Community Outreach Since summer 2025 we’ve held a Family Fun Day and two Kids’ Craft Mornings – each including a clear gospel message. Our contact list now includes over 200 families who have attended these events over recent years. Gillian has helped organise two Ladies’ Craft Evenings, with around 30 attending on each occasion to hear the gospel. Our monthly Community Lunch now attracts 25–30 local residents, and we’ve been encouraged by several new attendees in recent Ladies Autumn Craft Night months. Christmas Opportunities By the time this is read, we will have held our first ever Christmas Service in the village of Aberuthven, following a positive response to a gospel talk there in March 2025. We

hope this may open the door to further opportunities in the area. We are also exploring involvement in a local Community Hub Christmas event which we participated in last year. St Andrews – March ‘26 God willing, I plan to join with Iain Jamieson for a week of gospel outreach in St Andrews in early March 2026. This will be preceded by a Royal Mail leaflet drop across the town and will include evening gospel talks and additional activities. Many people are being reached with the gospel – please pray that 2026 will be the year they turn to Christ for salvation. C. 2015

Sapiranga, Rio Grande do Sul

Life continues to be busy here. After finishing five weeks of Gospel meetings with our brother Linsday Carswell in Bairro Fátima in Cachoeirinha in mid-September, we spent a few weeks visiting various assemblies across the State. I was able to have some ministry meetings with the Fátima assembly as well as the assemblies in Itati and Alvorada. We were also with the assemblies in Novo Hamburgo and Osório for their regular Bible readings and were able to help with the monthly Gospel meeting in Estância Velha, about 30 minutes from here.

We also spent an interesting weekend with the assembly in Três Passos, 300 miles from us, where Gregg and Elizabeth Buchanan make their home. We had a Gospel meeting in the nearby town of Braga on the Friday night and shared in the regular assembly meetings in Três Passos over the weekend. It had been a considerable time since I was last in Três Passos, so we were glad to be able to be with the assembly once again. In early October I started a series of gospel meetings in Porto Alegre with our brother Gabriel who was commended to full-time service by the Porto Alegre assembly at the start of this year. We are presently in the 5th week and have had good numbers attending, with up to 75 present some nights, including quite a few young children whose parents are in the assembly. We have a group of six young people in their 20s who attend quite well, including one young man who has not missed a night. Over many years our brother Harry Wilson had a long list of contacts that he visited regularly across the city, and Gabriel and I have been trying to follow these up and have had many interesting visits as a result. Please pray that we will see the Lord’s hand working with us at this time. In the will of the Lord, tomorrow (Saturday) we hope to travel 4½ hours to the annual conference in Santa Maria. Since the conference finishes at 6pm we plan to return home on the same day so we can be back in Sapiranga for the Lord’s Day. This will be the 5th conference that we have had since Candelaria conference on the 7th September, so it has been quite a busy few months. C. 1998

At the end of July, we had our ‘Reaching Muslims’ week. Many Gospel conversations were held, and the Word preached in the open air. Some, like Mustafa and Abdullah were polite, asking thoughtful questions. Others only wanted to debate. While there is little profit in this, it is worth continuing when others stop to listen in. That Muslim ‘evangelists’ like Faisal and Adnan come out, shows the Gospel is having impact in the area. Pray for Mr Khan the chemist. We were again able to engage with him over the week and felt he had softened a little in his attitude.

Birmingham

In September, I took a Reaching Muslim training day on Zoom for saints in London. I did three sessions and pray those who logged in were helped to feel more confident in their engagements with Muslims. In August, I had open air meetings in Northfield, an area in outer south Birmingham. During this week there seemed to be an openness to the Gospel, so I have continued fortnightly since. A few subsequently turned up at the Gospel meeting at Quarry Lane assembly. Pray for Wayne who professes faith. He is living in an HMO (government housing with shared occupation) and needs to be under God’s Word regularly. Pray for other areas where we have held open airs: Bearwood, Kings Heath, Moseley, City Centre, Redditch and Dudley. We have an exercise for Shard End. It is another area of the city with little to no Gospel witness. We have made some contacts and would like to hold Gospel meetings in the area. Pray for a suitable venue. I am encouraged by the Gospel exercise of the saints locally, and there is more work going on each

week than I can mention here. A couple of names though: Job and Hyellai asked for a Bible and have come once. Pray that work shifts allow them to come more often. Pray for Lawrence, a brother in a difficult situation whom we have helped. He has come on and off. Pray for spiritual growth. Pray for Denise, coming regularly to the Gospel. She just lost her husband, so we look to the Lord that through this she may truly know the comforting presence of the Saviour. There are quite a few of the assembly who have been going through various difficulties, so we do value your prayer for the Lord’s grace and mercy in these times of need. Pray not only for the practical, but for spiritual progress. As young believers grow, they often raise many questions, so wisdom is needed. We have been encouraged by apt and timely messages from the Lord in recent months. After the summer break, we were back into Seed Sower mode. With distributions in Exeter, Antrim, Coventry, Pamber Heath and Bath, around 60,000 John 3:16 texts were handed out. For the trustees of Seed Sowers, our main aim is to see the Word of God go out, and we prioritise the free Bible request offer. However, we do greatly rejoice with the saints when not only are many Bibles requested, but contacts are made with salvation following. Such was the case at Upper Hill Street, Coventry, with an Iranian doctor trusting Christ two days after first hearing the Gospel. Hallelujah! ANDREW & JANELLE MULLAN

This month has started off well. A brother and his wife are here visiting at the moment. They came from Brasilia, specially to visit Bill, so the brethern are taking advantage of his visit and have arranged meetings in some of the neighbouring towns for ministry. Tonight he is in Descalvado where I used to live. He has also been in Palmeiras, and here in Pirassununga for three nights. Then nearer the end of the month, here in Pìrassununga, we are expecting the visit of another brother and family, and he will be having four nights of ministry meetings. On such occasions, some from the neighbouring assemblies always come, and after the meeting we usually serve some refreshment. This is good as we have time to meet all the believers we don’t see every week and it is always a time of happy fellowship too. The literature work continues to grow, and it is good to see the books being useful and helpful to others. Please continue to pray for us all here and for the literature work in which most of our family are involved in. Also pray for the small assemblies in this area, that they may continue faithful to the Word, and in the preaching of the gospel, and that other assemblies may soon be formed. C.1960

Fellowship day in Rambouillet in June 2025 For a number of years now we praise God for an increasing interest in spiritual matters in Rambouillet. There are new people present at meetings every week. Some folks are going round the different churches in the area, but most have no religious background. Many are younger people, but not exclusively so. Some only attend a meeting once; others come intermittently, while others attend regularly. Some come through a contact with a friend or work colleague; others, after visiting our website. A short time ago, a couple arrived with their teenage daughter asking if it would be possible to baptise her. None of the family had previously attended a service in an Evangelical church. During Bible studies, it was clear that the daughter had truly been born again. Her baptism is planned for early in the New Year. Please pray for this family. Last Sunday a couple, perhaps about 60 years old, were present, the husband for the first time; the wife had attended on one other occasion. A second new person was a lady who attended meetings with the Jehovah’s Witnesses for a long period of time before leaving. A young lady was also present, clutching a Gideon New Testament, saying that she too was in an Evangelical church building for the first time. Please pray for these dear people, and many others, who are expressing an interest in the gospel. With more people coming to meetings, the decision was taken to set up an extension in an upstairs room of the premises, in order to relay the service on the ground floor. Please pray that the assembly will grow not only in numbers, but that young Christians will grow in the knowledge of the Lord, and that through time, they will be challenged as to service. We are very grateful for the return of a family who left us to train for service in a Bible school three years ago. They are already serving the Lord with enthusiasm. Please pray for them as they take on important responsibilities. May this be the beginning of a life of God honouring service! We are grateful too for a considerable number of brothers and

At the beginning of August, the assembly at Longford invited us for gospel meetings in the gospel hall at Knockanboy, Longford, and for children’s meetings in the afternoon’s at Castlepollard in West Meath. Over twenty local people attended the gospel meetings, with half of these having never been in the gospel hall before. The saints in the assembly, along with myself, were greatly encouraged. The children’s meetings were also well attended, with a couple of families present from the Castlepollard area. At the end of August, a weekend visit to the Netherlands with brother Alan Summers was very enjoyable, with ministry given to encourage the saints in the assemblies at Dedemsvaart and Schoonoord. At the beginning of September, due to an exercise by the saints at Letterkenny, there was an opportunity for a week of gospel meetings in a community centre at Moville, County Donegal. The meetings were encouraging, with up to twenty in attendance on some of the nights, nine of these from the locality. The caretaker attended every night, bringing his wife along on the final night. Prayer is valued that there might be occasion to have further meetings in this area. Brother Kenneth Newell from Kilkeel and I had four weeks of gospel meetings at Rosslea during September and into October. This rural border area has its challenges! There is still very much a legacy from the troubles, with wisdom needed in visitation. For the past number of years there have been no gospel meetings in these outreach halls connected to the Clones assembly. It proved quite an effort to get the door opened again. However, we were able to visit almost a thousand homes without incident across a wide area on both sides of the border. Some nights were smaller in number, but we always had unbelievers to preach the gospel to. Overall, almost thirty local people attended with some of these returning on several occasions. Recently I spent almost two weeks in England with the saints in the assembly at Bromborough. This was mainly for visiting the local primary schools to take the assembly, with responsibility at Bromborough to preach the gospel and minister the word in the weekly assembly meetings. Ministry meetings at various assemblies during November and December, as well as responsibility for calendar distribution, will keep us busy until the end of the year. The faithfulness of God through the kindness of His people, with their prayers and interest in our labours, are a constant cause for thanksgiving. C. 1991

Lubumbashi

This month’s report from the Lord’s work in which we are involved in DR Congo provides two points for praise to our Lord for situations we have previously mentioned to you for prayer. Firstly, the long-awaited literature container is now on its way to Lubumbashi. It is expected to take 3-4 months to arrive, and this will (hopefully) give us sufficient time to get the interior of the new depot we have been constructing equipped with the necessary lighting, flooring and shelving needed to safely store the contents of the container. We are told in the scriptures that God’s way is perfect and so we shouldn’t be surprised that the news of the departure of the container reached us on the day that Josh arrived back in Lubumbashi – meaning he can prioritise organising the necessary work. Also, the container’s expected arrival in Lubumbashi coincides with provisional plans we were already making to visit again in February/ March 2026. What an amazing God we have who works out these details for us. The second point for praise we can share with you is the happy news that our Lubumbashi based administrator, Freddy, is now a happily married man. His wedding was at the beginning of November and we were sad to not be able to be there – especially as we had given the bride (Madeleine) Keri’s wedding dress to wear. Upon their return to the city however, Freddy’s colleagues and friends in Lubumbashi organised a second celebration for them and it was held the day after Josh arrived in the country, so he was able to be there and celebrated with them.

It is such an encouragement to us to see Freddy continuing to grow in his walk with the Lord and to see him happily married to a young Christian woman who shares his desire to serve and please the Lord with her life. We were particularly delighted to see them smiling in their wedding pictures as all too often, even Christian couples in DRC do not smile on their wedding day, as it is against their culture to do so. Praise the Lord with us for this young couple who are not only happy to be married but willing to show it. C. 2016

Santa Maria

A week ago today, I arrived back to our home here in Santa Maria. The previous Lord's Day, brother Samuel Nelson and I finished nine weeks of Gospel Meetings in the Gospel Hall in Kilkeel. We thank God for all who attended, but sadly we did not hear of anyone professing faith in Christ. We take encouragement that we were sowing good seed, which can and will be used by our God in due time. Last Saturday, the little assembly here in Santa Maria, hosted another annual conference. It was a great joy for me to see the saints working together, having all prepared and organised without our presence. Brother Roberto Ploia opened the Bible Reading on Psalm 24 which was most precious. The open ministry was shared by two national workers, two missionaries Santa Maria Conference and a local elder. Many spoke of being helped by the ministry given, and we look to the Lord for His blessing, especially amongst the eight small assemblies dotted across the interior of our state, all of which were represented at the conference. The Santa Maria assembly continues to have two Gospel Meetings each week in the hall, and every other weekend, a children’s meeting and a Gospel Meeting in the home of a brother who lives in a country district. Prayer would be valued for some who show an interest. One lady called Dona Vera, who lives in a very poor area of Santa Maria, attends well and listens intently to the Gospel. Just over a month ago, she underwent gall-bladder surgery, but while in surgery suffered a major heart attack. She told me on Tuesday past, that she knows that it was God speaking loudly to her about eternity. Please pray that the light of God’s word will shine into her dark heart, and that soon she may trust Christ as her Saviour. The children’s work here in Santa Maria remains very encouraging. Recently around sixty children received prizes at the annual prize-giving. Only five of these are from the homes of the believers, and the rest have to be brought to the meetings by those who have cars. Some of the older

children attend the Gospel Meetings as well, and we long to see them awakened and saved by God’s grace. God willing on the 6th of December, the small assembly in Rio Pardo is planning to have a baptism in the local river. Five believers (two men and three ladies) are to obey the Lord. At present there are only five believers who are able to gather in the meetings of the assembly, so this will be a one hundred percent increase for the little testimony. Sadly, none are young, but this baptism certainly is a tremendous encouragement to the believers there. Over the Christmas period, the Porto Alegre assembly is organising the annual end of year Bible Readings. On Christmas Eve, two of the national workers will share a ministry meeting, followed by two readings on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, when four missionaries will open the four chapters of the Philippian Epistle. We pray that it all will be profitable and a blessing to the work here in the south of Brazil. C. 1988

During October and November, I was busy in Gospel Meetings at Kingsmoss and Aughrim. The Assembly at Kingsmoss has grown considerably in the last few years with a few young families joining the company and it has now over 70 in fellowship. One of the most special things in these meetings was the large number who attended the prayer meeting each evening, especially as many of them were young people. The three weeks were well attended with a number of unsaved hearing the message of salvation and we were so appreciative of the Lord ‘s help and liberty. We believe God’s promise that ‘His Word will not return unto Him void’. I did enjoy my time spent with the saints at Kingsmoss and earnestly pray that they will continue to move together in effective testimony for the Lord. I then preached the Gospel for another three weeks in Aughrim, where I was joined by Thomas Wallace: a businessman from Ballymena who has devoted a lot of his time, and seen blessing over the years, in the spread of the Gospel and ministering to the Lord’s people. Aughrim is a townland near Magherafelt and Castledawson, where I was born and also born again in the old tin Hall when Hedley Murphy the evangelist was the preacher. I was baptised and brought into fellowship there in 1967 and by the grace of God was commended to the work of the Lord for full time service in the Gospel in 1978. I enjoyed going around the area where I was brought up. I found many changes and was aware of many who had passed on. Many are getting older in the Assembly and have health issues, but the believers gave support in prayer and visitation, and the Lord was pleased to bring in a few souls and gave help to Thomas and I to tell out the best news of all. The believers spoke of being helped and encouraged by hearing the Gospel night after night. We greatly value the continued prayers of the Lord’s people, and we know our God is able and we leave the results with Him. C. 1978

Psalm 89:47 – Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain? Ecclesiastes 7:2 – It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for this is the end of all mankind, and the living will lay it to heart. Culturally, funerals are a big event in our area and Zambia as a whole. Events are put on hold or cancelled if there is a funeral in the area. To some extent, this requires flexibility when doing outreach work as it could very well be cancelled if someone passes away. Some may see this as a negative, but once you understand the culture, you see it as an odd positive. During the last four months, we have attended eight funerals in Zambia and three in Canada. Those who passed away ranged in age from early 20s to 99. For the eight funerals in Zambia we attended, some were an opportunity to preach the gospel to hundreds of people. Others were a missed opportunity as certain denominations followed more traditional routes and failed to take advantage of such large groups of people gathered at such a sombre time. We were attending a funeral in Zambia just as “fellow mourners,” and as we sat at the funeral house, we were approached by the person tasked with conducting the funeral. He advised us that the church the deceased family attended was “unwilling to advise God he was good enough for heaven due to his lifestyle” and as such were unwilling to participate in the funeral. We asked for them to sing two hymns and pray to give us a moment to prepare and then tried to faithfully present the gospel to the 500+ in attendance. A few days later an elderly lady in her mid 80s passed away, and I was asked to present the gospel again to the 250+ in attendance. After speaking on Proverbs 30:15, Proverbs

27:20 (Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.) and Psalm 17:15 (As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.) three or four local pastors approached me and asked for my notes. They were not familiar with messages from the Old Testament as they mostly taught from the New Testament. To end on a note of comfort, of the eleven funerals, many of those who passed away “fell asleep in Jesus!” We realise more and more the importance of presenting the gospel at every opportunity. We are thankful for the words of Hebrews 6:19, “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil”. C. 2009 (Canada)

Late in September, the assembly in Bairro Brasil celebrated 34 years of witness. The services were held at camp. The elders invited two brothers from a neighbouring town, father and son. This was the first time they had shared in ministering at the same conference. During the weekend there was much cause for rejoicing in seeing two recent converts baptised and there was much joy in the camp as two teenaged girls and one couple trusted the Lord for salvation. The IDE Annual Missionary Conference was held in São Paulo. The hall was packed with people of all ages. It was encouraging to listen to reports as to what the Lord is doing in Brazil, South America and in Europe. Attending this Conference has the added pleasure of meeting old friends. The Scottish contingent was present, Agnes and Leila (nee Maxwell) and Margaret Crawford. Walter was asked to give the closing message, and we spent the Sunday morning at the Lord’s Supper and ministering to the Christians of the Bosque assembly. Stephen and his wife travelled from Vitória do be at the conference. Mark and Marisaura joined us in our travel to São Paulo so it was a joy to have an almost complete family gathering. Mark’s family was unable to attend due to prior engagements. These pleasurable moments cause us to breathe deep. We travelled back and hit the road running. The Monthly Bible School was conducted on the last Saturday evening of the month. Numbers were down owing to a family wedding in town. This is a marathon and tests me to the limit. The study lasts for two hours with just a short break for coffee. We praise God for growing interest and for evident blessing in the development of spiritual life. On Monday evenings, we have the joy of welcoming young men to our home for Bible study. We started with four attending, but the number has risen to eight. It is delightful to see their keen interest in the Word. C. 1966

In the last half of 2025 I had the privilege of being involved in Gospel work in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. England In August we were at Leicester Boys’ camp. We were thankful to hear of one lad professing faith in Christ. Pray the seed sown will bear much fruit in the lives of the saved and the lost. I’m writing this at the end of November, and David Williamson and I are due to be with the assembly at Essex Road, Basingstoke, for a week of Gospel meetings at the beginning of December. We were there earlier this year, and there was one man who showed real concern. He continues to attend and is still interested in salvation. We are going back with him especially on our hearts. The meetings will be over when you read this, but perhaps you could commit the meetings to the Lord and pray His blessing on the Word. Scotland I was with the assembly at Bridge of Weir in September. The young men in the assembly managed to get quite a few of their friends in. There was a lady from the area who came as a result of the door-to-door work, and thankfully has continued to come. Please pray for her and her boys. Northern Ireland In September I was with the assembly at Central Gospel Hall, Bangor, for a week of children’s meetings. I really enjoyed the meetings. We had good attendance and very good attention given. David, Drew and I continue with the door-to-door work in West Belfast. We are thankful for so many excellent opportunities to present Christ to the lost. In my last report I mentioned Victoria, who is caught up with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. I have been in contact with her since, and there is still an openness there to listen to the truth of God’s Word. Please keep her in your prayers that the Lord will break through the lies and bring her to Himself.

Belfast

Sligo Republic of Ireland It was a change of scenery for me to go from the busy streets of Belfast to Sligo for Gospel meetings with the assembly at Collooney. Jonathan Goodwin had me out in the wilds of County Sligo, and we had some wonderful Gospel conversations with people at their homes. The meetings were encouraging, with some in for the first time, and some came several times. Pray the Lord will use His Word and the assembly will hear of salvation. Other work As well as the Gospel work, there has been a lot of Bible teaching, and there is also the ongoing pastoral work with those who have been saved. Some are in very difficult circumstances and need a lot of support. Lord willing Looking ahead to 2026: January is taken up with ministry meetings, then in February Jonathan Black and I are due to start Gospel meetings with the assembly at Omagh Gospel Hall. It’s hard to believe that we are almost at the end of another year. This has struck me forcibly as we prepare for another December of local outreach. Calendars have been ordered; Carol services are being arranged; outreach bible studies are being compiled. Where did the year really go?

I remember the words of the Psalmist, and it is appropriate at this time: “You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance” (Psalm 65:11). No doubt, originally this referred to the harvest that had been brought in after a year of patient tilling and sowing, when God answered with an abundant crop. But it is lovely to reflect on what God has been doing in our lives this year. The children (Isaac (10), Hannah (9) and Hope (6)) have adjusted well to their first full year at the Christian school in Alness. It is a real blessing to see them grow and learn. We would covet prayer for their spiritual growth – they have godly teachers, who pray with them and pray for them – an answer to Lindsey’s prayers. Lindsey herself volunteers on a Wednesday as a classroom assistant. Lindsey continues with her involvement in the toddler work in the hall at Culloden along with two other dedicated sisters. This work has grown also – with several of the mums asking questions. The sisters have a brief bible study with interested mums at the start of the toddlers’ work – which has led to great questions about God and Christianity. Please pray this will lead to salvation. Please pray especially for H., S. and M., three of the mums who may not be far from the Kingdom. I’m just back from a week in Aberdeen with the Holburn Assembly. We had a fourevening Gospel Series, where we focused on Four Key Questions that people might ask. These were encouraging, with one lady (E.) expressing that she had never heard this message before (despite being a churchgoer!). Please pray for W.’s husband, who had never shown much interest before, but was listening in on Zoom. We were encouraged to see G. at the meetings. G. was a man who professed faith back in February when I had a series in Fraserburgh hall. He is showing a real thirst for the word of God. Please pray for him. Also remember the teaching commitments – we have had encouraging times in the Home Bible Study, going through John’s Gospel. This is good as it is full of healthy doctrine for us all, and can be adjusted to cater for the audience. If you could remember

It’s now one year and two months since we opened the little Gospel Hall here in the city of Cholula. We’re still not accustomed to the unabashed religious idolatry that proudly parades past our front door. There are more chapels in this small city than in any other part of Mexico. As a result, there is a religious festival for every day of the year! “Where Satan dwelleth” (Revelation 2v13). Last weekend a young couple joined us for their first conference. Galo and Angélica have been attending the meetings with interest since August and recently told us that they got saved last month. Galo, one night after a long chat about salvation, and Angélica during the preaching of the Gospel in the hall. The change in their lives is quite remarkable. They have even made plans to get married next month as they seek to put their lives in order. “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son” (Colossians 1v13). Recently we were notified that 25,000 calendars are due to arrive next week. We love to distribute them in the city and in the surrounding towns and villages. We get very few refusals, and we also know that the entrance of God’s word gives light (Psalm 119v130). Ismael is a 23-year-old single father who lives over an hour away. He has been working on the construction of homes nearby to where we live. Just yesterday he joined us during his lunch hour and most of the time was spent sharing the Gospel and answering his many questions. We’re continually amazed at how often God brings people right to where we are so that we can tell them of the unsearchable riches of Christ. This morning, he inquired as to when he could come to learn more from the Bible. “This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes” (Psalm 118v23). God willing, we will hold a Seedsower event here in Cholula and surrounding towns from December 29th until January 2nd. The aim is to distribute Gospel texts in homes along with an invitation to attend a Gospel series here in the hall commencing on January 4th. We greatly value the prayers of the Lord’s dear people for the aforementioned people, places and plans. C. 2011

How quickly the year has passed. What follows are a few insights into how the Lord is working in the land of Romania. All the praise and glory go to Him for the salvation of people and local assemblies being strengthened numerically and spiritually.

Bible teaching – During the last year, with the Lord’s help, I have had ministry meetings in 52 assemblies, and we pray that the saints who gathered have been edified and strengthened spiritually. It has been encouraging to see large numbers of keen young people in the meetings. As well as these meetings, monthly intensive systematic Bible studies have recommenced in various assemblies. It is encouraging to be able to teach and guide a younger generation of believers. Their sharp minds and keen interest keep us on our toes. Some younger men are developing as Bible teachers and continue to be guided by elders in local assemblies. We pray that assemblies may continue to be built up and strengthened for His glory. Bible Exhibition – At a gospel outreach in April, parts of the Bible Exhibition were used in the local assembly in Ploiești. Friends, family and colleagues of believers were present, good conversations took place and gospel literature was well received. Prayer would be valued for all those who heard the gospel clearly presented. The Bible exhibition will be used this Saturday in the city of Iași when an assembly celebrates its 25th anniversary. Gospel Preaching – Highlights include being invited to speak at the assembly in Coada Izvorului, County of Prahova, when six believers were baptised. We also had a wonderful opportunity to preach the gospel in a public hall in Găujani on the Romanian border with Bulgaria, where over 200 children from the local school and their teachers were present. It was good to speak at the opening of the new gospel hall in Păltiniș (on the border with Moldova and Ukraine), which was packed with 125 people including the local Mayor and his deputy.

Gospel Tent Work – The 18th year of summer gospel tent ministry proved to be very busy with new places reached and new workers coming forward to help. Despite wet weather, in some cases flooding, enthusiasm wasn’t dampened! A younger generation of believers worked tirelessly, with freshness and energy, from mid-June to early September, to make God’s Word known to children and to bring glory to Him. Tents were pitched in new areas and some gospel outreaches took place in school buildings and sports halls. School teachers, local mayors, parents, grandparents all expressed their

appreciation for the hard work and effort put in by young people and young families to bring the Word of God into their local communities. In many places the tent is looked forward to each year. It is the highlight of the summer for some as families don’t travel far. Relationships continue to be built on in local communities. Adults and children were moved by the message of the gospel and by the choruses and Bible verses that they learnt. Parents and grandparents listened to the gospel at special meetings arranged on the last day of the tent outreach in their locality. Throughout the summer season, tents were pitched in 79 locations in 15 Counties in Romania and thousands of children, teenagers and adults have attended tent meetings. Gospel tents have also been pitched in three places (Ciripcau, Niorcani and Orhei) in neighbouring Republic of Moldova. A local assembly in Suceava rented a sports hall (surrounded by many blocks of flats) for three Prelipca days of children’s meetings. This was a new initiative, and 150 children attended! In Prelipca, 400 children crammed into two tents for a Bible programme! In some places families visited the local assembly after the tent outreach. It has been uplifting to see a younger generation of workers in the County of Suceava, Northern Romania, working together with an older generation on a plan for future gospel work and developing existing works. It is encouraging to see Christian couples and families getting involved in gospel outreach. On several occasions older believers were brought to tears when they saw large numbers of children listening to the Word of God. We pray that souls will be saved to the glory of God. Gospel Literature – Recently with the Lord’s help we have printed 75,000 copies of an excellent gospel booklet, Exploring Christianity, by brother Gareth Edwards, Perth Assembly. 20,500 A5 gospel text pictures with a simple gospel message on the reverse have already been delivered to believers in the city of Iași for distribution in December. Another 91,000 are currently being printed. Gospel literature distribution continues throughout the year. Widespread calendar and gospel literature distribution takes place over the Christmas and Easter periods. We are awaiting the delivery of 145,000 gospel calendars. Interest in distributing these calendars has significantly grown so the number being printed has increased this year. We are currently looking for story books and other literature that could be printed for the summer tent outreach work among children. Requests for Bibles are received and stocks are replenished when needed. We are grateful for your ongoing prayer support. All the praise and glory go to our Lord Jesus Christ for the work done. We are thankful to the Lord that our winter programme is now well underway. It has been a joy to restart the SU Club in a local primary school, resume our local Newmachar Bible Explorers Club, and continue the regular school visits along with our two secondary SU groups. The Lord has opened many opportunities to share His Word, and we value your ongoing prayers. Newmachar Bible Explorers Our weekly Bible Explorers Club has welcomed around nine enthusiastic children each week! They have enjoyed learning memory verses and listening to Bible stories, with each lesson pointing clearly to the gospel. We are encouraged by their interest and willingness to engage with Scripture. Please pray that numbers from the local community will increase D.V. SU Woodside Primary The nine regular attendees enjoyed the story of Jonah, linking his story to the Lord Jesus and the gospel message. The pupils listened carefully and some attend local churches and would know the facts of the Gospel. Please pray that they will believe with their whole heart! Infant Visits and Assemblies During school visits this term, we explored the story of Naaman being healed of his leprosy, with one child recalling Jesus healing 10 lepers at once – showing how well the pupils remember previous lessons from last year! The story of Jonah also sparked strong reactions among some of the pupils, especially when Jonah chose to run away from God. It was a privilege to demonstrate that even Jonah could receive a second chance by the God who loves to forgive. One girl asked deep and searching questions: Is there a God? Where is heaven? Do all religions worship the same God? It was a privilege to respond from the Bible. A teacher later commented, “I don’t know how you manage to answer their questions!” We give God the glory for His help with these conversations. SU Dyce Academy This weekly group of six pupils have been considering big questions, such as: •

Why isn’t sincerity enough in matters of belief?

Opening the Bible together has been a highlight. Some pupils are unfamiliar with Scripture – one girl held a Bible for the first time and was delighted by its thin pages. We studied Jesus’ response to the Pharisees’ hypocrisy in Mark’s Gospel, and conversations were thoughtful and sincere. After I prayed at the end, one girl (aged 13) said she had never prayed before and was amazed how simple it was! SU Inverurie We have discussed foundational questions with the five pupils who attend this weekly group including: •

Can you be good without God?

One girl asked about suffering, and a fifth-year boy has raised some challenging questions of his own (about the rapture!). Pupils listened well as we looked at God’s power to change a heart of stone into a heart of flesh – able to respond to Him. Youth Event We were encouraged to have twelve teenagers attending our recent weekly youth event. Together we considered the existence of God, the person of Jesus, and the meaning of real love as revealed in Christ. A short, sincere prayer time followed one of the sessions. Saturday 24th ZAMBIA

Rains have begun, marking the end of gospel trips into remote areas of Western Province, Zambia and Cazombo District, Angola until June 2026. Flood plains become wet; rivers no longer fordable.

Lukulu

Since these remote areas are at least a full day’s journey from Lukulu (home base), our practice is to live in a tent just outside the village; cook over firewood, draw water from a handdug well, walk to each village in the area. Upon entering a village, we are given a chair in the shade of a tree. After greeting, people gather and a gospel message is preached. People are encouraged to ask questions. Each evening those interested, gather for another message under battery lights. Yearly we try to revisit areas where we have perceived interest. Time did not permit a visit the Makoma people this year. Silala was a new area this year in Western Province. Imagine growing up under witchcraft practices and for the very first time seeing a Bible and hearing the name of the Lord Jesus! The gospel seems strange indeed. Gospel truths/words must be broken down and explained in the Biblical context. Generally, after three days of hearing messages and asking questions, truths begin to be understood. Continuing contact with Angolan refugees who had resided in Western Province during the war, we attempt to make yearly visits into the Cazombo District, Angola. In 2005 we built a pontoon across the Zambezi River connecting Cazombo to the rest of Angola. Following that, we reconstructed 13 bridges (which had been destroyed during war) opening up the road from Chavuma, Zambia, to Cazombo, Angola. During this period of construction work, officials and others would mention an area across the Zambezi River at Lumbala: Luvale people, isolated, never having heard the gospel. This year our son built a pontoon at Lumbala, allowing us to travel into this area where even government vehicles have not reached. Travelling some 30 miles, we found the first set of villages. We returned and spent 3 days there. 50 miles from the pontoon we left the main road, crossed a 12 miles flood plain, forded two rivers and reached more Luvale villages: Chinjongo, Kuswamahongo, Mabulo. Basically, they live to themselves, cultivating maize or cassava, and fish from the rivers. No schools, no clinics and perhaps 5 people out of 100 would be literate. The first night almost everyone in the village gathered; some out of genuine interest, others in curiosity. During this trip several hundred people heard the gospel – likely for the first time. Luvale gospel calendars and booklets of John’s Gospel were distributed. Leaving each of these areas, the chief (or representative) requested that we remember them and return next year. Please keep these new areas in your prayers.

In Lukulu, distribution of our Luvale gospel calendars begins. My visit to Lukulu offices and government officials has become a yearly routine. They expect a fifteen-minute gospel message followed by time to chat, and freedom to ask questions. What a great opportunity to spread the truth! Pray for this outreach effort. C. 1987 (Canada)

In August I had the privilege of helping Timothy Stevenson with a gospel series in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. The work is relatively new there, having begun about a year ago when Timothy and Jenna moved to the area with a burden to preach the gospel. The attendance varied, but each night there were precious souls that heard the gospel. Lord willing, they are planning a Seed Sower distribution in December followed by a series of gospel meetings. They would greatly value the prayers of the Lord’s people for the salvation of souls. In October we had a week of gospel meetings in El Barril with David Nesbitt. The attendance was very encouraging, and the believers made a good effort to invite family and friends to the meetings. In November Ricky Sawatzky joined us for five nights of gospel meetings in El Barril. Again, the attendance was very encouraging. Specifically, we were encouraged by the attendance of some of the husbands of the believers. There are several sisters in the assembly whose respective husbands aren’t saved, so to see three or four of them attend the meetings was an answer to prayer. Lord willing, in December we plan to have a week of testimony meetings. The plan is that each night one of the brothers will tell their testimony and I will preach the gospel. Since the brethren will be telling how God saved them, I am considering speaking on individuals from the New Testament, such as the rich young ruler and Felix, that had opportunities to be saved, but as far as we know they died without God’s salvation. Since 2020 Publicaciones Pescadores has digitally published over 160 new Spanish gospel tracts that have been circulated via social media to almost all the Spanishspeaking countries. Recently, we have started to slowly translate the tracts to English, with the goal of making the tracts available for free digital distribution. UGANDA

Nansana Bible Church We are almost coming to the end of the year and we look back and marvel at the neverending grace and faithfulness of our God. For the past ten months, we have had many opportunities to disciple our children and adults at Nansana. Our ten months residential discipleship program, which we call ‘Gospel Roots’, came to an end last month. Fourteen individuals including three couples were in this cohort. It has been such a delight to see the transforming power of the gospel at work not only in the lives of students but in us all. Uganda is infested with prosperity false gospel and there are many cults. The church needs to be established through intentional discipleship and Gospel Roots is giving us an incredible opportunity to do this. Also, through this program, leaders are being raised. We are hoping that the Lord will open a door for us to have 2026 Gospel Roots Cohort. Our Assembly had the blessing of hosting a group from the UK this August which was led by brother Paul Jenkinson. The visiting believers were such an encouragement to the saints here. We enjoyed the teaching and sharing God’s word with the community as we distributed Seed Sowers. Nkole Bible Church We planted this Assembly a few years ago five hours from our capital Kampala. One of the couples we had in Gospel Roots returned to Mbarara to support the church there. Pray for Joseph and Maggie, Timothy and Mercy, other elders and the saints there.

Family Our Family welcomed our new daughter Ashrey on September 2nd! The photo shows our whole clan together now: Blair, Allan, Brenda, Neilla, Maggie (with Ashrey), Sherry and Jesse. We are grateful for Brenda who we met three years ago. She was going through a difficult time, but our sovereign God used those circumstances to draw her to Himself. She later gave birth to Jesse who we have been caring for as well. We helped Brenda to go back to school and now she is at college studying to be a teacher. She was part of our Gospel Roots program. Please pray for our family as we care for those that God has brought to us. There are so many young people in Uganda and we are in a sense an orphaned generation. Pray for the grace of God to be able to shepherd and serve in our assembly faithfully.

Tuesday 27th UKRAINE Lutsk – War!

In February it will have been four years since the first bombs landed in Lutsk. Daily we live with sirens going off. The first siren is to warn that military jets, missiles or drones have been launched from Russian territory. When the second siren sounds it is a warning that they are heading in our direction and that we must seek shelter in the nearest underground bunker or basement. Most times this happens at night and it is most unpleasant. Our lives are different, but we live confidently, knowing that the lives of our children, our employees and our own lives are in God’s safe Hands. Russia is paying a heavy price for invading Ukraine and the death and destruction statistics are dreadful. On an average day the Russians are losing over 1,000 soldiers. The Russians totally disregard human life and throw their own soldiers into battles knowing they have no chance of survival. When you add to these figures the losses on the Ukrainian side, plus Ukrainian civilians, the figures are mindboggling. We are far from peace and, for us on the ground, we see it only getting worse. Despite difficult circumstances our focus remains on the Gospel both in literature form and in preaching.

Billboard Our own billboard is invaluable. We use it continually and it is helpful in advertising our meetings as well as Scripture texts. Some time ago the mayor brought in a policy to remove all the large billboards on every street. When it came to our billboard they decided against removing it because we display Bible verses. The Lord has promised that His word will not return unto Him void. Wednesday Young People’s Meeting Every other Wednesday we hold a young people’s meeting and limit the age from 11 to 20. Last Wednesday we had over 60 unsaved young people in and our son Thomas preached the Gospel clearly. Many of the young people are a great help to us, working in the kitchen at the hall or doing part-time jobs in the children’s home. Please pray for their salvation. Gospel Meetings Please pray for the Gospel preached every Lord’s Day and every Thursday. Last Thursday Thomas preached to approximately 330 unsaved and we look to the Lord for blessing. Occasionally, we give out food bags without informing those who attend, which clearly shows us that they attend, not just for what they get. Please pray for their salvation. Truck arrived in Lutsk A truck with 52 pallets of food, clothing and cleaning supplies packed in N Ireland and England has arrived safely. It was a tremendous amount of work for Thomas and Nadia in Chester, and it was so good that the load arrived here two days before Thomas, Nadia and their two children arrived. Our store is now full and the children in the home will benefit greatly from all that has been sent. We want to thank you for all your support. Lutsk Children’s Home We have just finished the autumn holidays which means that the children were off school. No school means more work!! Throughout the week we had to organise various outings to keep the children occupied and that can be quite a challenge! We love all our children and are thrilled that they all attend Sunday school, the young people’s meetings every other Wednesday and UCC meetings (Ukraine Child Care) every day. It thrills us to hear the children quote Scripture and sing choruses throughout the day. All of these children have been so traumatised, having lost parents and families in the war, and the least we can do is provide for them with all the love and care we can show. We are daily cast upon the Lord to meet our daily needs and deeply appreciate all the sacrifices you make so that we can care for the children. The challenges are great but then we have a great God. During August and into September we were more locally based, and it gave time to attend various N.I. Bible Readings and Conferences. I enjoyed helping at the seafront open airs in Ballycastle, and the outreach at the ‘Lammas Fair’, along with other brethren. Numbers there were very large, due to the good weather. The location for preaching was challenging, but the gospel was shared with many. Hundreds of tracts and John 3:16 bags were given out. It is amazing to see this ‘silent witness’ turn up all over the U.K. and Ireland throughout each year. In mid-September there was, sadly, an unscheduled visit to Zambia. My dear partner for many years in itinerant gospel work in Namibia, Zambia and other places, Dan Nguluka, suffered the loss of his dear wife Stella. Her final illness was mercifully short, but it was a strange mix of sadness and joy to be asked to preach the Word to almost 1,000 at the funeral, along with my local Kells brother Franklin McIlroy (also a previous coworker of Dan’s), and to meet so many Zambian brothers who I had not seen for some time. It was a short visit, but wonderfully uplifting, and a joy to remember the Lord together with the saints in Avondale assembly in their new Hall. The believers in Ballywatermoy, close to home, had requested a week of ministry on ‘prophetic topics’ and in October, we considered ‘The Timelines in Daniel’ with the help of a chart and various handouts. Ricky McCoubrey of Ards Bookshop also kindly provided stock for a ‘Prophecy Bookstall’ and there was good interest overall. Despite many other meetings being conducted – and well supported gospel efforts – around 13 assemblies were represented. It will be a special pleasure (God willing) to spend the latter part of November helping in door-to-door calendar outreach in the rural areas of the west of Ireland once again. This work – from the Collooney Assembly, Co. Sligo – has been growing by about 1,000 calendars a year since its commencement. By the end of November, a total of 14,000 homes will be visited with a 2026 calendar pack DV. It will also be good to get ‘on the street’ again with the gospel. The “Essential Questions for End Times” booklet has had a wide appeal among students etc. and many 1,000s have been given out in Ireland since initial publication in 2022. Please pray for these various forms of seed sowing, for brother Jonathan Goodwin and others who engage in itinerant street work, as well as for the various small lampstands of testimony dotted around the south of Ireland.

The “Essential Questions” booklet is in the process of being translated into Spanish, and Modern Simplified Chinese. This will add to the significant printrun in Portuguese already done by Crawford Brown and Brian Howden. We are grateful for how the Lord has blessed in changing minds through this little book, and to the reprinting undertaken by Ritchie Christian Media. Helen’s Mum is managing well, with good assembly and family support, for which we are most thankful. As we anticipate long distance travel once again in the New Year, we appreciate the prayers of the Lord’s people for preservation of both our widowed parents, now quite advanced in years. C. 2004

Writing from N Ireland

As I write this latest update, I’m reminded how “Absence makes the heart grow fonder”. It is hard to believe that what began as a ‘temporary’ return to the UK in 2011 has since led to fifty return visits to Malawi. Each trip deepens my affection for the land and people, reminding me how precious these opportunities are, and how absence only sharpens my appreciation for the work and fellowship we share there. Grateful for Dedicated Companions This milestone journey was made both more enjoyable and profitable by the company of Tom and Debbie Turnbull (Stark Road Gospel Hall, Michigan), Jeff Gratias (Grants Pass), and Cammo McCrindle (Clearview Gospel Hall, Seattle). Their encouragement, practical help, and godly wisdom were a blessing at every turn. Practical Service in Action As well as visiting Anna (they’re from the same assembly), Tom and Debbie tackled some much-needed projects, most notably the installation of new roll-up doors for SALT’s workshop and stores. Their willingness to serve with their hands has made a real difference. Meanwhile, Jeff and Cammo took on the challenge of swapping the engine and transmission on our trusty Isuzu pick-up. Thanks to their skill and perseverance, the vehicle is now running strong, and we expect it to provide reliable service for many years to come. This kind of behind-the-scenes work is invaluable, and I am deeply grateful for their expertise and diligence.

Encouraging Growth in the Spiritual Work One of the most heartening developments this year has been the successful launch of Nthawi ya Baibulo (Bibletime). Over 60,000 lesson booklets have already been distributed, introducing many children and young people to the truths of God’s Word. Additionally, the re-launch of the Emmaus correspondence course has brought fresh energy and interest, furthering our outreach to those eager to study the Scriptures in depth. In the local assembly, we continue to see encouraging growth, with around 300 children on the roll for the weekly Saturday meeting. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn is a delight. The assembly has been growing too, though as always, there are moments of disappointment and challenge. Yet, the Lord’s faithfulness is evident in the steady increase and sincere interest in spiritual things. Building for the Future: Hostel Construction Update Another major project underway is the construction of an 80-bed hostel to support our Bible Teaching conferences. Progress has been steady – the concrete floor slab has recently been poured, and work on the walls has just commenced as I write. It is exciting to see a vision taking shape in bricks and mortar, knowing this facility will serve the spiritual growth and fellowship of many for years to come. Prayer for Wisdom and Provision As we press forward with the hostel and other ministry initiatives, I would especially value your prayers for wisdom, guidance, and provision. Each step brings new opportunities and decisions, and we are keenly aware of our need for the Lord’s leading in every detail. Please pray that we would steward these resources wisely and that the work would bring lasting fruit for His glory. Personal and Family News On a more personal note, I am planning to spend a couple of months at home to recharge before returning to Malawi in February. The coming trip will focus on the hostel’s roofing stage, as well as making key decisions regarding solar electric and water solutions for the property. Your ongoing prayers for wisdom in these areas would be much appreciated. Familywise, please continue to remember Gail and her mum in your prayers. Gail’s mum has recently been unwell and needs more of Gail’s time each day. Gail has some health issues of her own, so we are grateful for God’s sustaining grace amid these challenges, and for the assurance that we are where we are through God’s leading. Pray that we would continue to know His guidance, specifically in relation to our service for him in Malawi. I am deeply grateful for your steadfast support, prayers, and encouragement. Last week, Elida’s mum had a stroke and lost the use of her right arm and leg. Since then she has come back to her house but needs 24/7 care. She can move her right arm and open and close her hand and lift her right leg, but she has not the strength to stand up, nor walk, and needs someone to do everything for her. As you can imagine, this has meant that Elida is the care helper, and is with her mum all the time. We are thankful that five years ago we moved into two apartments next to each other, so that if anything happened, we would be near to take care of her mum. But we appreciate prayer. Her mum has no initiative nor desire to try to eat on her own, or to stand up and even try to take a few steps with help. Our son, Joel is currently with us as he is applying for his degree to be accepted by the UK so he can work in Scotland. He is qualified for physiotherapy, so he has been a great help. We have no idea if strength will return to her right side or if this is the condition in which she will remain. We were encouraged recently with the baptisms of three teenage girls. It is obvious that the Lord had spoken to them whilst at summer camp and we had a great day together as a church. Please pray that they will be active for the Lord in their testimony with their friends at school and especially in our youth group that is predominantly young teenage boys from Muslim families. In respect of the teenage youth group, we are pleased at the unity of the group and the friendships that have been created. They really enjoy our holiday bible club where they gave help to the leaders, and they also really enjoy our summer camps, yet they have very little interest in the gospel. The fact that our town is basically 50% Catholic and 50% Muslim has created some very strong opinions on religion. The Muslims would say “Jesus is for the Catholics”, whereas Catholics say, “we believe in Jesus, go and tell the Muslims about Him”. There is still a strong obstacle in professing faith in Christ as it is seen as rejecting your family and their traditions. We are moving into December which is always a busy month for us with many activities and a time when many people will hear the gospel. We have activities with the women, with the parents from the nursery as well as many with the children. We also deliver food parcels to some poor families over the period. We are praying that we will see many in for the Christmas service. Again, as always, we appreciate your prayers for the work of the Lord and for us. C. 1997

Saturday 31st CYPRUS

The term began very well with many of our students returning and some new faces. We have resumed lessons and taken up the work on a daily basis. It is uplifting to be able to present the Gospel year after year to so many children and young people. During one morning assembly, the message subject was the fiery furnace of Nebuchadnezzar. This is a look at the realities of life and death. Our young Korean secondary teacher handled it very well and as he presented the facts, the students became very quiet and thoughtful. The Spirit’s convicting presence was perceived that morning and we continue to pray for the salvation they need more than education. Indeed, on such occasions we realise that our school really is a vehicle for the Gospel in the guise of education! Pray too for the various outreach groups and clubs connected to the school that take place weekly. Many of the teachers give extra time and dedication to these and students regularly attend. One example is a small Bible study for first year secondary students held weekly. Some girls attend eagerly and want to learn about the Bible. One girl shared that she loves reading her Bible and often finds a spot outside under a tree to read. She has just discovered the books of Ruth and Daniel and enjoys learning the truths. Of course, reading under a tree is so possible in Cyprus and can pretty much be undertaken at all times of the year! The Lord’s hand can be seen in many situations in the school on a daily basis. In ordinary everyday lessons, it can be manifested in acts of consideration among the students. We have recently had an influx of students from China. One Chinese girl could speak no English when she came and another student in the class devised a unique way of making her welcome by taking time to write little notes in her language with translations. Pray for rain. It is difficult to imagine in northerly climates that a country can be so dry. Dams are low and water levels are not as they should be at this time of year. It did rain recently but not so abundantly as is expected at this time of year. Just last week we experienced a strong earthquake during school hours. The Lord kept everyone safe, but this is a clear reminder to all of the brevity of life. Many aftershocks followed over the last week, but no damage has occurred to the school buildings. This year in particular, students have shown a great interest in the Bible. Many are asking questions and want to discuss spiritual things. It has never been noted on such a scale before. The Spirit is moving, and young hearts are being reached. We continue to be encouraged by your diligent prayers. JOHN & JENNIFER ROSS
