At the beginning of a new calendar year we often make resolutions of how we are going to be better this year than we were the last. Perhaps we are going to eat healthier, exercise, read more books, watch less TV . . . the lists each of us could write may have quite a few similarities. And of course trying to do better and be better is not a bad thing. But what resolutions often have in common is that they are all about me . . . or you . . . they are about us. They are all about our willpower and stamina and good intentions. And again—it’s not a bad thing to want to be the best we can be. But I have been thinking about making another kind of resolution this year . . . a resolution that focuses not on me, but on God. —continues on Page 3
