MAKKASAN PLAYGROUND

THE WITCHED WHO WAS FRIGHTENED OF HALLOWEEN As every kid knows, Halloween is both spooky and sweet. It’s spooky because there are withches and wizards about, and it’s sweet because children go in search of treats. This story is all about a little girl who is witch, and its fair to say that it’s more sweet than spooky. Her name is Katie, and her school mates think she is rather odd, and don’t really believe that she can do magic. She’s affraid of Halloween, because she thinks they will tease her more thank usual, but in fact she has quite a few useful tricks and treats up her sleeve.

Cultural Community and Contemporary Art Museum

Site Analysis

The location of this project is in Thailand, with its capital city Bangkok where the site is located in Bang Yi Khun , Bang Phlat Area near Rama VIII bridge next to the Chao Phraya River.

Communities

One of the biggest community out of all 3 around the site. It also contains a lot of history compare to other communities.

There are information board and tourist guide in the community to accommodate the visitors. However, people rarely going in there. The houses are compact with complex road grid. The walls of each house are high. This community dont have temple exist.

It was named before the temple exist in this community. Similar to the first community Ban Poon community, the building are placed in compact and dense way however, the houses dont high walls , but they have open space in ground floor to be a street and personalshop.

The road grid is straight line with rarely turning making it easier to walk pass unlike to Ban Poon.

It was named before the temple exist within the community just like Praya Siri Iyasawan Community, which also have the same circulation and characteristics in it, but unlike to the first, they mostly used wood, zinc, and concrete as a main materials in the buildings around the site.

USER ANALYSIS

There are many people, especially teenagers came to play skateboard around the area.

The graph shows how much number of people visiting Bangkok Art and Cultural Center (which is one of the culutural center in downtown bangkok through out the year of 2011 to year 2019. In the year 2011, there were 822, 138 people visited BACC which is 1.28% of the population with the number of 64.07 million which resulted that Thai people is unaware of art and culture exhibition. In a forward years, 2019 have 66.55 millions of population with the percentage of 2.7%

Concept This concept is about introducing arts into Thai community, the idea come from the question of why Thai people pay less attention to arts and don’t appreciate that much on going to visit the museum. The answer can be they don’t understand what is art, it is not related to their daily life or there is a less number of museum in the country. In the model we use the normal square box to represent the community, cultural and normal life of Thai people and using the free curve form to represent art and which are slowly integrate into the box like it is trying to introduce the art into the communities to make people have more understanding arts and appreciate more but still keep the life of communities and culture around the areas.

Communities Starting with the box of community center program by the shape is from the combinding the 3 communities which are located in 3 sides of the site together.

Cultural Combine the box of cultural center program by the cutural of the site at the riverfront side since the Chao Phraya River has been the main part of people living lifestyle around the site for a long time.

INTRODUCING ART TO THAI COMMUNITY AND CULTURE Using the simple box shape to represent the behavior of Thai people that pay less attention to arts and don’t appreciate that much on going to visit the museum. To make the idea of introducing, the organic form can be represent as contemporary art that will be connect to the box.

INTEGRATE ART INTO EVERYDAY LIFE After introducing art to the community we need to make them have more understanding and can appreciate more arts by directly integrating them in the everyday life of Thai people. Using the negative space of the organic form to make the idea of blending into the community.

Re-Defining Creative Space

School of Architecture and Design Year 2050 In the world where technology is dominated, especially in Architectural design field it all goes down with great virtual visualization with so much software we can use like AutoCad, Revit, sketchup and many more that helps you clear you vision, but what we are missing on the process is the sensation by talking with friends, professors and advisors and you can feel the feelings in the conversation which make the collaboration and socialization more stronger and it also boost someone’s creativity, and through those aspect there will be exploration with real person and physical models or hand drawn plans that makes the experience and learnings sentimental.

School Vision and Curricular The school 2050 will centralized to idea of redefining creative space that highly concentrated in socializing spaces, collaborative, and interactive spaces for the creative mind to explore and find solution to the lack of social interaction in today’s time.

Site Analysis The site location is in Thailand, one of the 11 districts in the province of Bangkok: Bang Khun Thian. It is characterized by the geometric forms of lands, which fully abundant with greeneries and water element and this district is famous with seafoods. KMUTT Bang Khun Thian campus is where the site located: on the left side is the diagram of main context factors affecting the site, Main buildings which includes Academic buildings and Faculties, Residential and Recreational Buildings. Next is Service Buildings, Car and Service Circulation and accessibility to the site.

On the right-side diagram is the density on the site and visual sense. The strongest orange diameter is where most people spend time which is in the faculties, canteen, and residential and recreational buildings occupied by University students, staff, and high school students.

Site Planning How the building response with the site? From the circular form the building programs like Socialization, Learning, and Collaboration spaces will be directed in certain direction in the landscape. The socialization programs are directed to the direction of collaboration on the landscapes. The Learning spaces in the building is directed to the nature zone in landscape, learning spaces is a high-pressure space and for the user to calm and connect themselves to nature the spaces are going to nature zone. Lastly: The Collaboration spaces in the building is connected in main space in the landscapes which the pond area, where most socialization happens, like physical activities, creative market and etc.

Project No. 5 Narrative 1

The vision of affection, The point of view is the grandama "Ahma" sitting and lying in her massage chair. This is view where is massage chair is located. The vision of affection means everything what she seeing is a piece of memories with her family.

Those drawings done by her grandchildren for her, swivel chair that used to be her chair before the massage chair, TV where she watch news, Speakers from the memories of her husband and all those items that give her warmth looking while lying down. In Addition, those items are highlighted or colored pink because pink is her favorite color and pink the color of love.

Narrative 2 In this collage, the whole living room is shown by sectional perspective to see the objects that matter and are important to the grandma, ahma. The scale of the objects is determined by the importance of the objects to ahma and highlighted with her favorite color pink which also the color of love. Additional details that make the house full of affection are those room where her granddaughter's bond and sleep, while in the corridor they do exercise and yoga. “This makes the House full of Affection with all the stuff and bondings of all people in here.

Narrative 3 Ama, the grandma, had always been the person who connected the family together. After she got ill, the massage chair is where it is the most comfortable for her. Her favorite thing to do was to watch TV. She watched almost every kinds of TV shows. She spent almost the whole day in the massage chair watching TV and eating food. Most of her grandchildren are raised by her in this home. After we grew up, the cousins and uncles would come home often to visit her in the weekend and festivals or even weekdays as we all have a close relationship with ama.

During the weekdays, most of the time she would be home alone until I and my aunt came back from school and work.
