Kyle Clarke - #64 Revelstoke
On Friday August 18th we were travelling to Revelstoke for a family camping trip. Just outside of Sicamous we blew a main hydraulic line, causing us to lose power steering and brakes. We managed to limp the truck and trailer to the campsite and proceeded to the local Lordco in the morning. Kyle Clarke of Revelstoke was absolutely amazing! Though he didn't have the parts in stock, he quickly got on the phone and arranged with Holly, at the Salmon Arm location, to meet us half way so our weekend wasn't a complete write off. This is a great example of EXCELLENT customer service and the whole family was able to enjoy the rest of the weekend once we got the parts back to the campsite and installed.
Super Kudos to the team in the North Okanagan! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all your help!
Aaron and Rob - #27 Newton
Thank you Aaron and Rob and the staff at Lordco for helping me out on my never ending project
Kelsey Will - #30 Nelson
Yesterday we hit a high of 40 degrees here in Nelson. Without being prompted in any way, one of my drivers Rose McQuillan took it upon herself to go around with a big cooler full of popsicles to all of our shops and hand them out. She put smiles on so many faces, as well as making sure all her coworkers got one as well. Rose did this out of the kindness in her heart, knowing that we are currently going through a heat wave and many of our mechanics don’t have AC in their shops. She didn’t even tell anyone she was doing so, we heard of her actions through our happy mechanics.
“We live in such a small town, and I really like the guys that we deliver to. It’s not hard to get to know everybody especially when you’re delivering … I just figured that a little popsicle would be a nice treat on a record-breaking hot day,” says Rose McQuillan.
Not only did Rose distribute popsicles, but she also generously provided ice cubes to all the dogs at the shops. It’s evident that her furry friend, BB, from Valley Performance, truly enjoyed the refreshing gesture to beat the heat.

OHS is shining a light on The Port Coquitlam Warehouse AKA L1…
There’s a lot of staff, a lot of parts and a lot of movement at L1 trying to get the rest of Lordco and our customers their parts. With so many moving pieces, there is also a lot of potential hazards and injuries to prevent. To help keep each other safe and promote everyone going the extra mile for safety, the committee started the “Life Saver” contest. When committee members recognize someone, they get a roll of life savers, their name added to the Recognition Board and entered in the monthly drawing. This allows the committee to build relationships with the more than 250 people working at L1.
Keep up the good work L1 Committee: Mohammad G, Adam K, Connor M, Bedros S, Kate S, Steve F, Stevie W, Gautam V, Liam M., Karanveer S, Spencer R, Josh Ai, Nick O, Cambre B, Steven P, Sanjiv M, Crystal D.
Another quick shout out the following Lordco locations for doing the bonus safety activity for August.
Keep using those ladders Team Bridgeview, Encouraging Health snacks in Salmon Arm, prepping your new hires and logging safety notes in your safety binder Creston team and getting some stretches in up at Cache Creek.
Kudos…
Learning from our past. You’ve heard the phrase hindsight is 20/20…... well, that is often the case in the world of safe ty. After someone has been hurt, we think of all the steps we should have done differently; the PPE we should have worn, a missed opportunity for refresher training, a process that isn’t working but still used. Most of the time, it is a series of actions that contribute to an incident. Below is a story from an actual Lordco employee. Our hope is that their story will help you and your coworkers learn from their experience so that a similar incident can be prevented at your Lordco site.
I was making a delivery to a customer shop that I have been to numerous times. At this site, there is only one way in and out. On this day I was required to use the box truck rather than the usual Venue. There were also multiple vehicles parked in the customer lot that are not normally there. After making the delivery, I have to turn around in the lot so I can safely pull out and onto the street. After doing my safety check and closing the back of the doors to the truck, I got back in and realized the turn was tighter than normal because of the extra cars. I ended up backing up to far to the shop and backed into their gutters and cause some minor damage. I realize that I can’t take for granted that just because I have been somewhere familiar, that I will always have the same experience. I know now, that when something is new or out of the norm, that’s my cue to be sure I pay more attention to my surroundings and consider that when the experience is different, my reaction will have to be different too. From a now “smarter and safer” driver.
