A Note from the director Hello and thank you so much for joining us for Little Shop of Horrors! It has been a pleasure to work with the French Creek Theatre family for the past two months. The extraordinary cast, design team, crew, and I have had a blast with this show, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Though adapted in 1982 from a 1960 B-movie, Little Shop’s offbeat, toe-tapping cautionary tale still has plenty to offer audiences in 2018. The campy delights of Seymour’s unlikely partnership with a carnivorous plant - and the motley ensemble of lovable (and love-to-hate) characters - still ask bigger questions that are relevant today. What happens when the voice of gain at all costs presents itself as the only hope for a better life? How do we come to believe that some people are more disposable than others? Is it possible to fight the seduction of these less-than-benevolent forces? Is there another way? Thanks to the genius of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, exploring these questions has never been more wickedly fun or wonderfully satisfying. It’s the perfect medley of trick and treat for the Halloween season. CAST Days h aw n da Ash (Crystal) is excited to be back at French Creek, and to have an opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Her credits include Bare (Sister Chantelle), Side Show Rival (Fortune Teller), Urinetown (Little Sally), Hairspray (Shayna), Avenue Q (Gary Coleman), Children of Eden (Snake), Sister Act (Sister Mary Patrick), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Muzzy), Ghost (Clara Brown) and The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (St. Monica). Dayshawnda thanks her Grandma for her unending love & support in the pursuit of her dreams! Remember “It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” Sit back, relax, and “Don’t feed the plants.” Andrea Belser (Chiffon) is a Performing and Teaching Artist from Cleveland with a BA in Theater Studies emphasizing Dance and Applied Voice from Wright State University. Currently, she teaches dance, theater and acting to all Pg. 14 ages with theaters and
companies around Northeast Ohio. She has also worked behind the scenes as a choreographer, stage manager and dresser. You may have last seen her in The Casual Tree Ward at Convergence-Continuum, Panther Dancer at Playwrights Local, Sundiata at Talespinner Children’s Theatre, or I Call My Brothers at Cleveland Public Theatre. Andrea’s awards include 2008 Best Actress in Cleveland and a nomination for the same in 2012. M e g a n C a m p a n a (Ronette) is excited to be a part of Little Shop of Horrors. Megan has been a part of several French Creek Theatre productions including Oliver! (The Widow Corney), Children of Eden (Storyteller), Bonnie & Clyde (Stella), Jekyll & Hyde (Lady Beaconsfield/ Barmaid) and Godspell (Ensemble/ solo: Bless the Lord). Megan has also been actively involved with the Lorain Community Music Theatre as a hair/makeup artist since 2008. Megan cantors at her church, St. Peter in Lorain, and is a member of Project Praise contemporary choir under the direction of Mr. Anthony Trifiletti. She is also a member of Choral Spectrum, a local chamber choir under the direction of Dr. Ted Williams.
Actor/Actress Bios E m m a D i Bat t i s t e (Ensemble) is a junior at Albert Einstein Academy, and is thrilled to be back with French Creek. Little Shop of Horrors has been one of her favorite shows growing up, and it’s been an honor for her to be in it. This will be her sixth show in total, and her third with French Creek. She’s so grateful for the wonderful cast she’s had the pleasure of meeting and working with. Thank you for coming to the show! D o m e n i c Farinelli (Orin) is glad to be performing with French Creek Theatre again! He teaches English and Theatre at Lakewood High School where he also directs the drama club, which will be performing The Laramie Project November 1-3, and Mamma Mia May 2-4. Domenic is also working on his Master’s in Workforce Education and Development at BGSU, and will be starting a PostGrad Diploma in Creative Writing at the University of York next spring. He was most recently seen at FCT in Romeo & Juliet as Mercutio, and Children of Eden as Father. Other favorite performances include
West Side Story (Tony), Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour), Peter Pan (Captain Hook), and High School Musical (Troy). He would like to thank Katie and Julie for giving him this amazing opportunity in spite of his hectic schedule. He’d also like to thank Christine, Snow, and his family for always supporting him! Dawn Galang is (Ensemble) excited to be back onstage singing and dancing in one of her favorite musicals. She played Lady Montague in the summer outdoor production of Romeo & Juliet, and was a member of the ensemble in Annie this past winter. Zach Palumbo (Seymour) is thrilled to be returning to French Creek after appearing earlier this year in Children of Eden (Snake/ Storyteller). Since then, he has appeared in Dogfight (Bernstein) at Western Reserve Playhouse, Hedwig and the Angry Inch (Jacek) at Blank Canvas Theatre, and Spring Awakening (Moritz Stiefel) at Near West Theatre. Zach is humbled to be sharing this show with a wonderful cast and creative team, and he is grateful to his family and friends for their unending support and encouragement. He requests that you not feed the plants on your way out. John J. Polk (Mr. Mushnik) is making his French Creek debut with this production. A n t h o n y W i ll i a m s (Audrey II) is pleased to announce that this production of Little Shop of Horrors marks 15 years performing, and what an amazing journey it has been. Anthony got his start in 2003 in the ensemble of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He went on to do many shows including Urinetown, Cats, West Side Story, Godspell, Children of Eden, Hairspray and Six Degrees of Separation. With great shows came some great roles as well, such as John in Miss Saigon, Ike Skidmore in Oklahoma, Horton in Seussical, Booker T. Washington in Ragtime, Tom Collins in Rent and Ken in Ain’t Misbehavin’ to name a few. He most recently was seen as Delray in Cain Park’s production of Memphis. He has performed at other theatres as well including Near West, Cleveland Public Theatre, Karamu House, Aurora Community Theatre, Chagrin Valley Little Theatre and others across northeast Ohio. He has worked in live entertainment in the last few years at Cedar Point, and was a part of the T.O.P.S (Theatre Outreach Performance Series) at Karamu which toured around different venues in northeast Ohio. Production Team: Julie Billinghurst (Stage Manager) is excited to be opening her fourth season at French Creek Theatre. She has also worked at Stage Manager for TrueNorth and Lorain Community Music Theatre. Some of her favorites include; Big Fish, Bonnie & Clyde, Parade and Romeo & Juliet. Thanks to the cast and crew for working together to bring this show to life. Enjoy the show! Derek Green (Set Designer / Technical Director) is a freelance technical director, scenic and lighting designer, and has served as French Creek’s technical director for the past year. Design credits include The Elephant Man, Children of Eden, I’m Not Rappaport, Bonnie & Clyde, Willy Wonka, Our Town, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Other design credits include The Tempest, Richard II (Cleveland Shakespeare Festival); South Pacific, The Curious Savage, Joseph . . . Dreamcoat, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Here Come the Brides (NDCL). Derek currently works on the Education staff at Cleveland Play House. Favorite projects have included directing and choreographing Cry-Baby (Stage Left), assistant directing and choreographing First Date (Stage Left), assistant stage managing The Wild Party (Miami University), and costuming Rumors (Stage Left). She would like to thank Jane, her better half, and the entire Little Shop team and cast! Stan Kozak (Sound Designer) Stan Kozak, currently in his twentyseventh season at Great Lakes Theater, has more than 50 design credits including Bat Boy: The Musical, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Comedy of Errors, Amadeus, You Can’t Take It With You, Private Lives, Into the Woods and the Tom Hanks’ benefit performances. His work in 1979 and 1981 with Geraldine Fitzgerald on Streetsongs at GLTF led to the original cast album. Mr. Kozak was the resident sound designer for four seasons at the Porthouse Theatre Company, including productions of Driving Miss Daisy, Niteclub Confidential and a Nightingale Sang. His collaborations with Victoria Bussert at Baldwin-Wallace College include productions of Chess, Hair, Company, Cabaret, West Side Story, Tommy in Concert, Parade, the Ohio premiere of Stephen Sondheim’s Passion, and one of the first nonprofessional productions of Phantom of the Opera. He is excited to be taking the step offstage to choreograph for the first time here at FCT, and is incredibly happy to be working with this fantastic cast and creative team to bring this strange and interesting story to life. Sarah Rounds (Sound Board Operator) is excited to be back working on her second season at French Creek! She graduated from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Recording Arts, and currently works at Playhouse
Actor/Actress Bios Square as a Ticketing Concierge. She is an Avon High School alumni where she was involved in the drama club, and was inducted into the Thespian Society. She enjoyed being onstage as much as working offstage in running crew and as head of the makeup/hair crew. In her free time, Sarah likes to sing, teach herself new instruments, hang out with friends and family, and work on her sound design skills. Anthony Trifiletti (Music Director) is an active solo pianist, collaborative artist, and music director throughout much of Ohio. As a pianist and music director, Anthony has held positions at TrueNorth Cultural Arts Center, The Lorain Palace Theatre, Lorain Palace Youth Theatre, Sandstone Summer Theatre, Amherst Workshop Players, Lorain Community Music Theatre, The Human Race Theatre Company, Dayton Opera, Dayton Philharmonic Youth Strings, and numerous other venues. Anthony is currently serving on the Board of Directors for TrueNorth Cultural Arts Center. He is a recent graduate of the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. While at UD, Anthony was the recipient of the Award for Outstanding Collaborative Pianist and performed at the American Choral Director’s Association National Convention in 2013. Besides working in theatrical and other performance related settings, Anthony is an active church
musician having served at numerous parishes throughout the state. He is currently the music director at St. Peter in Lorain. Congratulations cast, crew, and orchestra on a wonderful performance!
