Junior Cathy DeHart and senior Jacqui Ricci enjoy the campus' first snowfall on Saturday, Jan. 25. Replacing sleds with trash bags, the women slid down the hills along Residential Boulevard. Other students joined in and the early morning hour festivities continued until 3 a.m. Approximately 1-2 inches of snowfall hit the area by Sunday morning. Physical Plant had pathways and roadways salted and clearec{ by Sunday morning.

Auto mechanic Ray Santucci says the major driving problem in this area is rain. If it has not rained in a while the oil from the asphalt covers the road and vehicles hydroplane. When it snows "no one goes anywhere," Santucci said. Robert Crawford, an employee for Radnor Police's traffic and safety department, said most roads around here are blacktop and the oil comes up from the blacktop makes them slippery. According to Crawford, people drive too fast for conditions and for the curves. Crawford said speed should be reduced for the conditions in the weather and drivers should allow space in between cars, in order to allow cars room to stop. Crawford said it's also a good idea to tum on headlights in bad weather. Eagle Road is a state maintained road, according to Crawford. They had asked the state for guard rails on the curve where senior Kelly Reed got into her accident, but instead the state gave them reflectors. The Eagle Road exit is a bad place for accidents according to Crawford, and most of the accidents happen in Cabrini's area. Reed had an accident last semester on Eagle Road. Reed had left Cabrini at 10:30 p.m. at the

assistant perspectives editor In 1991, the Pennsylvania Department of Education passed Cabrini's education department for five more years. According to Dr. Dawn Middleton, chair of the education department, Cabrini did well in the audit because of the strong

field experience program. Middleton said Cabrini has drawn many of its students because of the education department's rigorous field experience program. Everyone on campus jokes about "cut and paste" majors, but credit wise, the education major's course load is one of the hardest at Cabrini. In almost all divisions of Cabrini's education department the total cred-

its for major is 60 or above. According to Cabrini College's undergraduate catalog, the school's teacher preparation programs are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the PA State Board of Education and the National Association of School Direc

Eagle Road exit and was headed toward King of Prussia Road. Reed said there was a light drizzle and it was extremely foggy. She was unable to tum on her high beams because a car in the opposite lane was approaching. As she approached the bend in the road, a deer stepped out in front of her. Swerving to avoid it, she went off of the road. According to Reed, her car lights did not pick up anything beyond the outer white line on the road. Reed said that if there were lights on the side of the road she might have seen the deer before it walked out. Crawford also states that if a deer steps out in front of you it is better to hit the deeJ;.Jhan swerve if the roadway around is not clear. Another problem Crawford sees that people have driving is that they are "creatures of habit." Sometimes people think they come to a full stop at stop signs, but in actuality they hit their brakes and keep going. Drivers also stop paying attention to what is going on around them which is another problem. Lt. Robert Lanyon, of the Tredyffrin police force, said that most accidents on Upper Gulph Road happen at the intersection at King of Prussia Road. During bad weather conditions, most accidents happen at Fletcher and UpperGulph
